  1. Yeah I just ordered Chapelle's book a bit ago. Looking forward to reading it. Anyway, on to the topic. Why couldn't we just replace the crazy loadout of all 32s with a more "normal" armament? Maybe 42s, 24s, 12s? Or something like this anyway? I don't know a ton about the effects that different loads have on ships, so you guys will have to work with me a bit. lol
  2. I guess it could be called a hunting tactic. The only problem I have with free ports is they act as a station that anyone can instantly send a ship to, then instantly teleport there from across the entire map. A freeport in the middle of a Nations waters where an entire fleet of SOLS can magically appear from in an instant without having g to actually sail there? THAT, is my problem with free ports. I do like their use, especially with pirates, maybe some smugglers. And they are good for trade. It's just the combination of the free ports WITH teleports that bothers me. Kind of a huge loss of immersion, but that's just opinion. I just think they should be tweaked a little bit.
  3. And with the wonderful no-cooldown teleports in the game, it's compounded. But oh no, we can't take that away! Then we'd have to SPEND TIME in the game!!!
  4. Some decent points for sure. I really miss the stormy battles
  5. I understand the privateer point you make, but being able to switch back and forth between pirate and privateer seems off. Do we want one pirate to have reap the benefits of being a pirate AND a privateer? There has to be some kind of downside to playing pirate(and playing a national) I would think, otherwise the entire playerbase is just going to fly the black flag. Choosing the path of least resistance is human nature. Pirates associated themself with other pirates creating fleets, invading cities Turning privateers, returning pirate etc. Accepting pardons etc Allowing pirate clans to become privateers for a nation, return pirate etc, will split the pirates to not act anymore as a nation, will allow finally pirate on pirate fights, coalitions, transforming the pirate experience into a dynamic enviroment full of betray, political instable alliances towards and against certain nations etc I feel that some of the points everyone is making right now are just in vain, since the pirate rework is coming somewhat soon.
  6. Would love this! Maybe some heavy weather to go with... Forcing many ships to close their gun deck ports.
  7. Exactly. These are the biggest pvp killers right now in a game that is so amazing.
  8. Lol, you guys ever read about pirates? They flew the black flag for a reason: because they didn't want to bow to a higher power, a crown of any type. It's a nation OR pirate, not both. I'm fine with clans trying to start their own nation, but don't call them pirates please, that's not what pirates were. Anyways, getting off topic here a bit. I think if nations are silly enough to hire pirates and get stabbed in the back and crossed, let them!!
  9. Such a small frigate to load 18 pounders, no? Regardless, a nice looking vessel! Would love to have her in game!
  10. Where did you read this? I can't seem to find much info on her sailing characteristics.
  11. Christ that thing is huge! So many guns... Where would you put all the cargo?? ????????????
  12. I love this idea. It puts some meaning in "raiding trade routes". Nations would actually be able to seriously hurt the economies of their enemies, and it would let people put their fast frigates to good use! It would force nations to patrol their waters, and protect trade!
  13. Yeah, with the time compression in OW, we really need the timer. We should try to cut back on the teleports. It's sort of turning off global tactics, in a way. Maybe get rid of the coordinate system? Not sure about that one. I remember we got around okay before it was in the game. Then again, we always made sure to sail together, if the situation called for it. Then again, that come right back to the teleport issue. With unlimited teleports, there is no such thing as "safe waters". If it was cut back, we could actually have an idea of where we could go without being rekt by some teleport fleet. Then, if you go near enemy ports, it might be a good idea to get a few buddies! Maybe cut teleporting to and from free towns entirely for Nationals? Then we have just as much mobility, but aren't always looking over our shoulder after exiting a free port deep in our own territory.
  14. Ha, give me a break. People are exiting the game and not coming back, not getting a cup of coffee. If people were taking quick breaks, people wouldn't be complaining about it. And yeah, I specifically stated in my post that I want teleportations to be cut down. Maybe before raving and ranting about two sentences, you actually read and process the post.
  15. Constellation would fit wonderfully between the Constitution and Essex. A decent broadside with the long 18s and 32 pound nades up top, combined with good armor would've made her a good rival to the Trincomalee. I think she had a very similar scantling design to the United States class of frigates, so she'd be very beefy indeed. I wonder what speeds she could cruise at? Anyone know?
  16. Man, the frigate Mowhawk packed quite a punch, long 24 pounders on the gun deck with 32 pound carronades on the spar deck? Maybe it'd be too over powered for the game . Or we just make it extremely expensive to build? Anyone have plans of her?
  17. Are Great Lakes ships viable to put to sea? How much different are the hull forms?
  18. Yes! We need to put REAL meaning behind trade, recourses, and econ!!
