  1. normally i would like to see this comming frome the developers themselfes, but with this i do now really know that this is necessary. i voted Other because i want to vote multiple options. - premium ships - cosmetics like different color sails, hulls. custom SHIP NAMES and Figureheads (historical accurate, as much as possible!) - more things to do in OW other than exploring, battle and trading but yes everything to keep Naval action Running and as interesting as possible!
  2. I would like to suggest a selectable practice mission, or different selectable practice missions like Admiralty missions. The reason for this is; - whe can practice what a new bought/crafted/modified ship can do (speed, rate of turn etc. etc.) - see wat diffrent calibres medium/long/carronades gun's can do and how they perform on different gun decks. - practice Naval tactics with a group of player's (Line of battle) - we can practice without taking damage from enemy fire - new players I would suggest that with different practice missions, how many practice targets would appear in the practice mission and in wich formation. the practice targets could be; - raft(s) with sails (idea from Master and Commander, gun practice scene with a raft) - old battered ship(s) - static crew with hay puppets? wich would diminished with grape shot The practice target could drift with the wind to simulate movement or anchored to lay stil. with more targets formed in ''formation'' they would by tied together to stay in ''formation'', and tied ships can be seperated form formation during heavy shooting (ropes would go loose) Damage to the captain's own ships could only be done to friendly fire or ramming other objects. And this makes it a pretty handy practice mission imo.
  3. In mine opinion this is very easy to avoid, just treat the interweb people like you treat people in your daily life (with respect) and you don't have to be worried getting banned. And be a sportive loser and polite winner. P.s I don't know what you said in chat wich you get a chat ban for, but i am sure the admin did not do it for nothing, and a 7 day chat ban for abusing the chat seems very appropiate to me especially when you get offerd to make your excuse to other player and removing your ban! Something that hasn't be suggested bij the admin in first place, but as own initiative of yourself!

  5. Agree, i did not experienced this, i am the from the latest batch of players that came into the Naval Action! And the developers ask me if i could give some usefull feedback to the game, and here i am making a suggestion/constructive feedback to change the rudder, i am not demanding it, and i am not clamoring about it and i'm not not bashing it! at the Age of Sail and modern day i am sure that the man at helm/wheel (first mate i'm guessing) would recieve orders to head a certain ° on the compas for a heading and had to have a fixed position/degree of angle on the rudder for a short period of time (depends on the rate of turn) there is nothing modern about that? In fact the mechanic that Naval Action uses now is similar to a time dependent rudder, only on my ship it stays at a fixed position in ° after i moved/pressed my time dependent rudder control for a couple of seconds to port or starboard, Naval Action it wil go automatically to back to 0° mid ship's (and this is a very modern rudder control mechanic). Basicly all i'm suggesting is a way to get a fixed rudder position and a key to center your rudder, something like JJWolf suggested? but if it doesn't work with current game mechanics then it's the way it is
  6. Yes agree, but you can rebind them to other keys. and i'm only using them as an example. you can use they arrow keys? very good point, sir! multiple keys are a very good option indeed!
  7. I Agree, Almost the same as Destraex suggested, but with degrees, with my own ship it works almost the same. And i have sailed with mechanical system's (conventional wooden wheel with chain connections to rudder) and currently mostly electro/hydrolic system's! Example: Rudder to midship is 0° max ° in port to starboard depends on different ships & rudders (different ships have different rudders and max ° ) Let's say for these kind of vessels of that era, i think the max would be around 40° to 50° to port and starboard? Rudder Control: Use 3 keyboard keys to control rudder, for this example i use A(port side), S(midship), D(starboard side) Hold A, D, to let it slide to preffered rudder angle in ° and let go, and it wil stay there (currently it wil automaticly slide back mid ship, very annoying imo). Double tap A, D, to get max rudder output in ° (as is implimented in game right now). press the S key to set rudder mid ship. And as for angle in ° with the rudder, put it in increments of 10° or maybe 5°. So with one press of a keyboard key (whe have alot of them left on the keyboard) it wil set the rudder at a preffered angle in °. a bit more advanced, but it works. My own rudder control, display frome my current ship.
  8. Thanks, i just rememberd my modding days in Napoleon Total War and digged up these .mp3 files, and put them in a seperate folders. and i have been messing around with Voice attack to create a non static command voice feedback, and you can put for example a couple of .mp3's from ''Orders recieved (overall)'' folder's in a pool, so you don't have the same ''Aye Aye, Captain'' every command voice feedback. I just sailed with it myself, and giving command's to your ship's crew and recieving the propper ''Aye Aye, captain'', ''Hard over her starboard'', ''Prepare grapeshot'' or ''Davy Jones awaits the scurvy dogs'' is very immersive! But the choice is intirely your own, feel free to do whatever you want with it. i have no claim to it what so ever, as stated i digged up these .mp3 files from Napoleon Total War sound.pack file. On the other languages: Creative assembly wasn't so creative with the Dutch language , they are there, but not as good as the English ones. So i'm going to have a look wich ones are the best for myself, if there is some one who wants the .mp3 for a Dutch profile PM me i wil give a link to the download file when it's ready, but i'm not going to post this into this thread. The same goes for the other languages, my french does not goes furter then the ''Où est l'office de tourisme'' and ''voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir'' , and spanish ''dónde está el bar de tapas más cercana'' and ''una cerveza por favor'' i can not dicide of these are good sound files?
  9. I found some pretty good sounds for command feedback for voice attack in a sound.pack file from Napoleon Total war, i have selected a couple of them and renamed them (for easier use for ShavedAlpaca profile). some of them have 2 different voices (more navy like and pirate like) so you have more contrast. And i want to thank ShavedAlpaca again for creating and sharing a good voice attack profile!!
  10. Dear captains, developers and ye landlubbers I want wish everybody a very happy and prosperous 2016!! I wil be spending alot of time on these forums of this beautiful game, i wil ending this year and beginning 2016 with wishing good luck and a very healthy 2016!! I'm now going to eat some oliebollen and light up some of firework . I see you all in the next year!!
  11. Al i can do is make suggestions here. i am not that handy in making a beautiful concepts of a desired UI like many do here , great work! please make it look old (it's to modern for my taste) please make clear, simple and obvious please make the top deck view with armor and gun's view, viewed from stern at bottom screen to bow to top of the screen, just like the yard positions interface in compas (not starboard/larboard) please not to much clutter on screen.
  12. i maybe found a bug ingame, maybe it's already beeing noticed or reported or fixed while i writing this? (couldn't find it in search?). · Ordering fleet to use chainshot to destroy her mast's and sails, they use chain shot to shoot but they are stil aiming for her hull 9 out 10 time's? maybe that 1 out 10 is luck, it looks like it? · They don't destroy her mast's/sails efficiently · make them at least try aiming for the mast and sails, if they have a big mis percentage so be it, but it looks like they are thinking that they still shooting ball at her hull? all of this with a big please ofcourse. and a thanks in advance. [sOLVED] EDIT; I think this problem is fixed now (noticed at 10-01-2016) as my fleet are aiming higher for sails and actually hitting the masts and sails now when i see the chain shot flying into their sails instead of the hull(s) of the enemy ship(s). a big thanks for fixing it!!
  13. shallows are marked by breaking waves, white heads on the waves and they become very short. i don't know how they could implement this into Naval Action but it would look great if it can be done. see picture below. Flat sea at upper picture, braking waves mid picture (beginning of shallow waters), land/beach.
  14. ^^This is, imo, the golden idea in the name of custom names, written in a nice font wich is hystorical appropiate! And yes, you would see double names so every once and awhile but it ads diversity.
  15. Good idea. in OW, and in battle with traders ship(gunports who aren't used, because of cargo hold), gun ports closed please! it would be awesome to animate this at the start up of the battle where gunports open and guns where put into place, but as OlavDeng2 mentioned if this takes to much resourches than it's fine as it is.
  16. I find this hard to believe!? it's like not giving the British nation the ''Hms Victory'', or the French nation without the ''Le Soleil Royal''? The ''Zeven provinciën'' was the famous 80 gun ship of the line for the Dutch, a ship build for dutch admirals. However The ''Amsterdam'' was a highest class spiegelretourschip, a perfect Merchant ship for the VOC, build for trade and protecting it. But i think both ships never sailed the carribean waters.
  17. First off all the game look very good as i played these couple off days! but as always, as this topic suggested there are some little things that others and meself are finding missing. when i'm sailing the open world it looks stunning! but i suggest to bring more life into it? for an example; AT SEA: - a flock of Birds (as i have read correctly this was mentioned multiple times in this topic) - a pack of doplhines who cruise along with your ship once and awhile - thunderstorms with sound and lightning flashes (rain look stunning already imo) - a groep of fisherman so once and while - please close the gun ports whe are making water!! (especially trading ships) - men on the masts and yards. - a wheelsman behind the rudder, it looks deserted there. - nation flags, admiral flags (the same as in battle) - an old sea map instead of this one (it looks to modern) PORTS: - slightly bigger port city's/towns for capital ports - ports with static moored vessels, it looks very empty especially at capital ports. - a shipyard with with work in progress (to compliment the crafting system, wich is amazing!) In Battle: - a wheelsman behind the rudder, it looks deserted there. - men on the masts and yards. - please close the gun ports of trading ships, or ports who aren't filled with guns. - gun recoil, let them fly into the gunports after beeing shot (i see the animation of the guncrew pushing them back, so i'm guessing this would implimented?) - the decks look very clean, a bit more stuff on the deck wouldn't hurt the detailed look? - when at pistol shot range, let some puffs of smoke from muskets go off. - Boarding hooks and ropes. - breaking masts this is just suggestion as i not know how game develoment works, so correct me if i am wrong about wat can and cannot be done! i am a big fan of Napoleon Total war, and there i see a lot of things that can be really usefull to naval acton. even complete parts of hull can shot off and repaired with extra planking for an example i'm just a simple skipper irl, and with that beenig said mine opinion about ships handling and buoyancy is pretty accurtate! a bit mor bow wave and heeling wouln't hurt, especially with the wind full on sides and full sailes, on 3 decks with guns the lower gundeck ports should be closed, otherwise the men at pumps have a lot of work to do. None the less a very very great game, i'm loving it in it's current state as beta!! thanks dev's to make this possible!!
