  1. We are not people we are testers so we incur a certain responsibility to be plugged into the process of development. If you chose not to then it is at your own detriment. One the game is fully released yes the developers have that responsibility as well as many more. COST is big factor this game is in early access and is a small developer house currently. Nothing about how the servers work should be taken as a indicator as to how the final product will work. Their smart guys im sure they know this current server setup isn't good but its working for now. yea and I dont know about you but im not exactly excited about session changes taking place even with cool graphical effects in between when sailing about the open world. Im sure their are options out there the devs will look into that serve NA's needs Dude take a breath .... I agree the current server issue sucks but as I have said relax give time its early in the ball game and everyone is worried cuz we arent playing a finished final product. Its peoples attitudes about early access games like this is why more and more company's arent willing to release product early.
  2. don't take me wrong I'm not anti pirate we need bad guys and good guys to make it fun i'm just wanting it a little more ... idk not so obvious. but as a balance to the added stealth of it you have to counter with some other reduction and i was thinking access to limited safe ports possibly. Honestly i'm sure what the best option is but im sure the devs have some great ideas planed as well as the player base speaking up. I just don't want fraking Jack Sparrow all over the map ya know.
  3. I like your ideas and thoughts as to the idea that pirate or other not so law abiding captains wernt so easily picked out for what they were. I agree that except for a few small exceptions of very rare occurrence pirate towns werent all over the place like 7-11's. More commonly were small towns that just honestly either looked the other way for a few coins, desperate for commerce or didn't have the necessary force to deter so in reality didn't have much of a choice but allow docking and interaction to take place. Also as I understand it not often did pirates go about sailing with a giant flag waving saying lookie here i'm a pirate chillin da most. But I also understand some concessions have to be made for the sake of game play and balance. Not sure what the real answer is but the PotBS model is definitely IMHO not it.

  5. “Our cruel and unrelenting Enemy leaves us no choice but a brave resistance, or the most abject submission; this is all we can expect - We have therefore to resolve to conquer or die: Our own Country's Honor, all call upon us for a vigorous and manly exertion, and if we now shamefully fail, we shall become infamous to the whole world. Let us therefore rely upon the goodness of the Cause, and the aid of the supreme Being, in whose hands Victory is, to animate and encourage us to great and noble Actions - The Eyes of all our Countrymen are now upon us, and we shall have their blessings, and praises, if happily we are the instruments of saving them from the Tyranny meditated against them. Let us therefore animate and encourage each other, and shew the whole world, that a Freeman contending for Liberty on his own ground is superior to any slavish mercenary on earth.” ― George Washington
  6. Good day to you sir and fellow free man. I am Paxton Brimstone of South Carolina and proudly serving in The Decatur Armada an American fleet with a rich history and future. “Nevertheless, to the persecution and tyranny of his cruel ministry we will not tamely submit -- appealing to Heaven for the justice of our cause, we determine to die or be free.” ― Joseph Warren
  7. ^^^^^^^ Finally the most honest man on the inter webs makes a post !!!!! I salute you sir. o7
  8. We have a winner !!! yes St Elmo's Fire a natural scientific proven phenomena that happened and was documented in several places and climates in naval history. There was much much superstition attached to this sight by sailors some considered it a ill omen some believed it was lights of angels and proof that the almighty was looking after them.
  9. It would be cool if this natural phenomenon would occur sometimes.
  10. I don't feel I need it but I it certainly wouldn't be unwelcome either.
  11. not a war movie but it has sailing in it. White Squall is about prep school boys on a long sailing trip doing school on board as well as sailing and learning lessons about life.
  12. Funny? I thought a great ship purpose built that performed well. her story
  13. I understand England was a naval powerhouse but please show a little love to us upstart yanks and add a few higher rates. French are kinda skinny too in there list. I appreciate the priority for date req's and if a ship saw action however I dont want it to be a game of lets log into and play British Naval Action.
  14. Atomic Tiger is secretly a Chippendale stripper, is richer than Donald Trump and plays video games for the department of homeland security. SPY !!!!
  15. same here have had it happen twice but luckily not in past few days
  16. Its been said it is not going to be a free to play game. The model that has been touted as an example is the guild wars 2 model. You buy the game and that gives you full access. Premium items for extra investment would not be superior and would be cosmetic upgrades. Wooohoo gold cherubs on my ship lol for example. If ships get sold they would never be better than in game built and only offered for cosmetic reasons. I've even seen that it would require the base ship to be owned and then would basically reskin the model to a alternate and perhaps more pleasing for the owner visually. Happy sailing and fair winds to you and all your days Paxton member of Decatur Armada
  17. I just enjoy what access to the game I have now for what it is. I consider any part of the game i'm allowed to experience until beta as me giving back to the developers and hopefully providing useful data and feed back. Alphas purpose isn't necessarily for our enjoyment so much as it is to help assure at full release we have a product to fully enjoy. Also consider playing some other games as well during this time, perhaps pursue learning more about the history and technology of the time so to better understand the game. Read or watch some great literary works about the period both fiction and non fiction. Get involved in a good fleet of like minded sailors and experience the community aspect of a soon to be awesome game. Im thinking of going sailing for real hopefully this year for the first time hopefully. sorry not the answer or support on your OP you were looking for but perhaps your not looking at the problem from other angles. Happy sailing and fair winds to you and all your days Paxton member of Decatur Armada
  18. Best advice I can give is lead by example. Demonstrate good behavior and sportsmanship and don't applaud or reinforce bad. Or in simpler terms "Don't Feed the Trolls". This isn't a 100% thing and yes we all at times will get frustrated and perhaps slip but the effort by all of us early on helps to set the standard. I'm not a prude or anything close I love a good dirty joke but were all real people on the other side of the data line so try to remember that and ask yourself, would I like it if someone spoke that way towards a family member of mine? We can all have fun and enjoy this game and its a healthy sign that this discussion is already happening, awareness is the first step in overcoming issues usually. Happy sailing and fair winds to you and all your days Paxton member of Decatur Armada
