Bring back "Name-tag" in open world

Recommended Posts

Hear Hear!

Captains!

I will suggest that we bring back information about sailors in open world!

Why?

  • I miss open world communication. saying hi to the enemy, ask him to let me go, ask if its alot of fish where he comes from
  • You know if you tag a bloody alt, a pvp king or a new guy sailing for the first time.'
  • some of us, are actually naval action friends, and dont want to fight eachother. instead of wasting time in battle we can just sail away from each other.

I know some pvp kings feelt like they where hunted more if they know who they where. i get that. but thats a risk you need to take when you are a pvp king.

Please keep the conversation on a medium level of seriousness.

sorry im a social guy!

you should try it someitmes!

I do, just not all the time. There are ways to make "contact" in the open world through global chat. Use that.

yeah i mean revenge fleet etc

whats your ingame name?

il corsaro nero, for another 3 weeks or so or until i get bored with it.

I change because i like some fresh air, not because i am pvp legend. I reached my peak of pvp skill and will always remain decent. Not better or worse.

hi

i do know it has some concerns ,.... but i am not against it .

perhaps as a option in the settings for those who do not want communication ?

what i can remember was when it was removed from the game i experienced it as a restriction ...

so in my concern the old situation can come back ,i see no problem (especially perhaps  when the new moderation comes in place)

greetings

IMO i dont think it makes sense that you can spot exactly who the captain is from several miles away, but maybe it should show within the tagging circle? as in you can spot the flag and ship pretty good in detail, so in real life you would be able to tell who and what exactly it is.

Yeah thats a good thing, we have all seen those movies when they take up their binoculars thingy and can see who the enemy is

Does anyone know why they changed it in the first place?

Trashtalking plus calling each other out on global for not taking fights. We're better off without names in OW.

Best way is to make it a feature that you can toggle on / off as already suggested. = everybody get what they want.

IIRC the deadly pvp'ers rightly complained that they were run from on a regular basis without even the chance of a battle. I would also not want to see it abused

No from me

Then they need a faster ship!

i still feel captains runs if they don’t have clear advantage !

i think that could be nice but there is the other side of the medal or coin:

  • could be abused to hunt and gank players for a revenge, becouse arent loved and so on
  •  with some intelligence work, you could know if some players have a special role in clan so they could have  the more profitable fleet to attack,  you could know their outpost location and then the route for the ambush and when you see the name ...Bingo! Jackpot! Yazee!

I liked it. The best conversations I've had was with the players I played against.

Not including those I have had with my precious snabeltann ofc, they will always rank the highest!!

The PROS outweighs the CONS here. As a noob, I would always want to know who the enemy is first. If it's someone who is a PvP pro, or someone always in PvP leaderboards like Moscalb, dron441, Captain Reverse, so on and so forth then I'd prefer to walk away and wish the gentleman a nice day instead. I possess no challenge to them and don't wanna waste their time, so as mine. On the other hand, if I don't recognize an enemy captain, I can muster a little bit of courage to go and fight against him because I don't know him/no knowledge with how he plays. So yeah, I would want the Open World name tags to come back, and can be included as an option in the settings for the players to choose.

you should rather look on it from an other perspective, you should rather fight the guys on the leaderboards more and learn from them and get better instead. And its not always that the best are on the leaderboards for instance if you participate in a big fleet battle and get alot of assists and some kills that will push you up on the list

Nobody learns from being the lamb to someone elses slaughter. Besides - mods, port bonus' and woods matter far more than skills in this game.
