@admin Did the fix for the Trade exploit break the hold perk. I just tried to sail with 100% hold full and it wouldn't let me sail until i was down to 69%.

known issue will be fixed tomorrow.

so your 50/50 vs dlc ships on 1v1.

How then are they OP. I wish i was 50/50 at 1v1 against DLC ships!

Excuse me, maybe that was unclear: In a 1v1 I lost a fight and won a fight. The other encounters weren´t 1v1´s, so I guess they don´t count...but the win/loss stays about the same.

Essex doesn't have stern or bow chasers, Herc does. In my opinion it can be easily countered. That's just my opinion, I'm happy to try out :)

If the ship is OP it will win in a constrained duel against a more skilled opponent in the majority of cases. For example average victory HMS victory will win against skilled opponent in a cutter if a cutter is not allowed to run.

If herc is not allowed to run the win is not guaranteed and skilled essex or belle poule will probably destroy the hercules in majority of battles. And will destroy le requin in all cases.

@Nuka You can check the recording of the stream of yesterday. 1 Snow, 2 Princes, 1 Xebec, 1 Hercules. ROVER, R0VER, R8VER. Pirates, prussians, americans. :)

Like another spanish fellow said the other day "rovery brits in prussian nation flying pirate flags". Best description ever.

My handle is the same everywhere, nothing to hide. Snappy salute.

I´m sry that I wont waste my time watching somebodys stream / or the recording.

To think that you always play like that cause of 1 hour- 2 hour streamtime  ( dont know how long you streamed) , is more then stupid.

Running around in 3 nations flags to kill everything (cause you can attack all) must be a honour and destroys RvR,PvE, PVP ).

Good winds

That's a very strict definition of OP. With this definition, a gun is not OP against a knife, as a skilled knife thrower can defeat an unskilled gunner. In PB-like situation however 25 knife throwers would probably loose against 25 unskilled gunners.

I would advice to define an OP ship as a ship that someone has to use in order to win PB's - a ship which defines meta. I guess we can simply see in coming days whether DLC ships will remain meta.

Ship overall strength is defined by statistics. Constrained duel could show immediately if the ship is really overpowered.

If someone thinks the ship is OP it does not make it overpowered.

Then we could define L´Océans as OP aswell, since they are 99% of the heavy PB fleets...

Maybe we can define OP like this: A ship, that cannot only compete with every other ship in its class, but also with ships that should be stronger per definition (higher class).

people won't need to buy crafted ships anymore

I actually get that concern.

I've almost never bought any ships as the profit "margin" almost never is a margin but a multiplier. For a guy who've found pvp much, much more fun than eco and pve, I've been unable to keep up a cash flow to be in the ship market. So I've bit the lesser bullet (giggle) and crafted myself. The lesser bullet is still a bullet (forgive me) so I'll buy any DLC ship they offer me.

The value of not having to port click or grind cash is tremendous.

That said, I'm secretly bugged they picked such capable ships as the vanguard of the DLC experiment. Not that I'm absolutely sure they're as broken as some say. I would've bought something like a cerb up to Belle/Frigate which would've attracted less blind or informed hate... I guess.

The demand that everyone HAS TO engage in eco/pve in order to play is something I reject firmly.

Fun fact: I have both dlc ships but haven't used them for PvP yet. It's mostly taste as I have a blind love for proper frigates.

I agree. I'm happy to test this it in a duel :) Anyone willing to do this - please let me know here or in-game :)

I already tested this in many fights, however mostly with less skilled or equal opponents.

RvR meaning of "OP" is mostly based on BR, not ship stats.

That's also true.

Herc already received a good balance in my opinion.

I don't agree with this opinion. Again, those are just our opinions. We could test it if Requins were not so much unbalanced that they make PB fleet compositions without them obsolete.

So you're complaining that the herc sinks your trader too fast? or is more maneuverable than your lo/wo ship (guessing your build but that's what most carebears use). You cant call a ship OP until you bother to sail it yourself, people used to call BF hackers when they got sunk, but they aren't, so go sail the ship then come back here.

You may guess what you like, but no. I only lost 1 trader (Indiaman), and not bc of the herc, but bc a square fort kept shooting at me, while I was boarding the Herc, but I was between fort and Herc. And since then I only go trading with a battle ship as main, mostly Connie, but Frigates and Bellona aswell. And most of them weren´t lo/wo...

first thing the bellona can do is dont fire broadside. control speed so every gun of the lower deck hits and fire them one by one. use Heel to aim the guns low. Use leeway. Bellona has much more leeway as herc.

But sailing downwind shooting whole broadsides solves nothing because of the "short size" 3/4 of guns miss.

Hmmm. I do not see the hercules problem on this screen. That is frigate/light frigate versus line ship balance problem
Average unescorted Bellona will have troubles against ANY 2 5th rates in the current state of the game. And i think its a known issue but we are not sure it needs addressing. As it will drastically reduce variety.
