1 off pirate reroll

Recommended Posts

So since there is a big series of changes coming in the next patch i suggest that since you are not wiping and since pirate are currently at a low port number you allow Clan leaders to request Nation changes from pirates to elsewhere.

The beauty of doing it now willl be that you can do a simple DB update for clans and anyone wanting to be pirate can just reattack someone.  Once you break the pirates mechanics you might find it harder.

Also if you offer it as a 1 time only thing during this early patch you save yourself some greif later when people complain about pirates being nerfed to hell.

Clan leader has to PM someone and the clan gets added to a 1 offf script when you patch the diplomacy stuff.

Rather, if a Pirate clan is allied with the majority of a certain Nation clans, then it gets the option to switch into that Nation.

(Alternatively you could count it against the number of players of the allied clans vs the rest of the Nation clans.)

i would have to agree with the others, there has been some terrible things done by those who chose to go pirate and betraying trusting vulernable people just to betray and steal promoting poor behavior that they shouldnt get the chance to amensty.

If a Clan or player switched to pirates to deliberately brake the game and has stated so in multie threads I don't think there should be an easy out of that choice supported by the devs

You guys better get on the reality train too. :)

Why should pirates get special disposition to nation change? It was easy to go pirate, accept that you have to nation change like everyone else does.

Those who swapped didnt lose blueprints. They knew what they were getting themselves in for.

Now the devs want to change things around I can see a few people interested in swapping nations.

Going from one nation to another nation always required the loss of blueprints, Pirates where the exception and easy route. Why should they get another special rule for their case. They should get to have to delete their character like everyone else switching to another nation.

Nope.

There's no pirate-specific changes being implemented that drastically affects them, and asking for a free swap just because you're currently in a bad spot is honestly a bit pathetic. But it makes sense for pirates to be asking for it, considering how many of those who turned pirate in the first place did it for the same reason - because they were in a tough spot and because it was easy.

Seems like some strange expectations if someone rolled pirate and expected to play for a bona fide nation, even if its playerbase is trying to act as one.

If pirates can no longer own ports but are restricted to free towns, perfectly fine with it :)

If pirates are restricted to 5th rates and lower, same as above as that is what I only use now :)

If pirates can no longer craft ships, I will not be happy but will still stay pirate :)

However if there is some huge nerf, not sure what it would be, I may consider switching nations but I'm not sure who would want me lol.

Although I do believe there should be some in game mechanism that allows nation switch with a long cool-down.

sigh,  obviously people can't read....

the next patch basically turns pirates into the enemy of eveyone inlike how it has been for the last 7 months.

We dont get to vote on diplomacy

this means we wont be able to join other peoples port battles or basically do anything other than OW PVP because of the screening issues around port battles.

The game is starting to drastically change and I don't feel like that should happen without a port wipe or some form of assistance to those that want to jump to a nation

It has very little to do with where the pirates are now and everything to do with theres no way out of it once diplomacy comes in and this is a development change.  I am merely trying to get ahead of it because most of you guys don't seem to understand whats coming next patch.

If your still butthurt about clans going pirate then you probably need to have a good look at the state of the game then and right now and next month. You are in fact  getting pirate nerfing changes earlier than expected.  The fact pirates reduced a nation to minimal ports and dominate the map beyond every before simply by 2 clans being pirate highlighted things and changed the way diplomacy was being specced.

Unlike some of you guys some of us are actually testing stuff and trying to build a better game. Skully and myself are always about the game. Not all of us were just angry about stuff.

so pirates will actually become pirates in a true sense and now you dont want that? :D

Thats what im trying to get here, but Devs seems to ignore this IMHO very important for pirate captains question.

From what I understand each Pirate ship is a Republic on its own, at war with the world.

It is the most historical accurate depiction of what a pirate ship is.

We fight for independent survival playing together, not collective survival as a nation imo. There's always be pirates no matter what changes come, more or less historical.

Kind of makes sense as a kickoff for the pirate change rollercoaster and surely it will filter a lot of "nation rebels".

Looking at the map and looking at the diplomacy test notes it seems we are game on!

Now what we need is to work on Smugglers. They are not correctly implemented IMO. Smugglers should buy and sell "illegal" cargo. Meaning they should make the shady deals with pirates to buy their wares, meaning markets closed to pirates apart from free ports.

At the risk of derailing, it's not that the cargo was illegal itself (like hard drugs are today), it's that the cargo was untaxed.  A better implementation of smuggling would be a perk buy-in, taxes at ports that support the nation itself, and smugglers avoiding that taxation, increasing their profits, or allowing them to sell at a lower price.

Correct.  Pirates should include economic mechanics that allows them to actually succeed at being pirates.  Their profit margin should be nearly double a national.  The problem I see is this:  In real life, piracy for wealth was a strong motivator.  I mean, who the hell wants to work for a living.  In a computer game, even the desire for wealth becomes boring over time.  I fear "successful" pirates will eventually run out of things to spend their money on.

Thus, additional content will be needed.  Mercenary work/paid escorting  can be a good start....

I would hope that Letters of Marque or something along those lines would be coming fairly soon after the Diplomacy update.

Would be fairly easy to see a leaderboard off of that ;)

Some named pirates were lost in history just because they disappeared from records/action.

I often wonder how many pirates we barely heard of and those we never ever heard of just because they made enough to retire in peace ;)
