  1. Huys guys, so I propose that in this topic we show our ideas on general missions, or "quests"(single player or co-op missions that will be available in the open world, mostly again AI)... Shipwreck Rescue - A merchant ship just sunk near an island, go check if you find any survivors. No money as reward, only crew experience, morale and player fame. Mutiny! - The owner of a trading company offers you a reward to get one of his ships back, it was taken by its crew after a mutiny. Money, crew experience and player fame as reward(no morale because your crew know that most of the crew captured will be hanged) If you destroy the ship instead of recovering it, you'll get not a lot of money as reward. Pirates - NPC pirates should sail all aroud main areas, as player ones... But some missions could be generated, like hunting down an AI pirate thats causing problem around a city. Prize money, bounty, crew experience, morale and player fame as reward. Exploration - explore some regions, selling cartographical information to various nations and companies of your choice, i.e a new Trading Company in the market hires you to map out a group of islands. Money, crew experience and fame as reward. Those are my ideas, post yours below!
  2. Nice! I only think that no speed indication its way too realistic... I like the way it is!
  3. Portugal was one of the first nations to sail these beatiful but dangerous oceans we dream to sail... Here I bring one of my favorite poems on the topic, by Fernando Pessoa, most of its beaty its lost on the translation, but whats is kept its still worth it! Portuguese Sea ''O salty sea, so much of whose salt Is Portugal’s tears! All the mothers Who had to weep for us to cross you! All the sons who prayed in vain! All the brides-to-be who never Married for you to be ours, O sea! Was it worth doing? Everything’s worth doing If the soul of the doer isn’t small. Whoever would go beyond the Cape Must go beyond sorrow. God placed danger and the abyss in the sea, But he also made it heaven’s mirror.'' -Fernando Pessoa
  4. I agree.... This East Indiaman Somerset is a great substitute tho!
  5. I think we are over disscussing this, games like Medieval 2 Total War/ Age Of Empires/ Crusader Kings have religion in them, and its not that big of a deal...
  6. AMD Bulldozer FX-8120 8-core Nvidia GeForce GTX-550 Ti 8Gb Corsair RAM Windows 7 Ultimate... I'm thinking abou upgrading my gear, any tips on where to begin?
  7. Great work, I'm also interested in helping modelling ships... For now I've been testing out a simple hull, as I've never modelled ships!
  8. Yes, something like the smoke we already have not being able to be turned off, and a better one for the smoke lovers
  9. The thing with open world, is that people like it, it would be a nice milestone for the Steam pre-release
  10. Its computers right?? Give us an option, put the smoke there, if our computers can't handle, we turn it off.... but save your times now... work on this details later!
  11. I know, I'm aware of it... this just sounds like nitpicking, and I may sound like an asshole... but it feels like(having myself played with unity before) that a simple tweak in a config of some water script would solve this, so I feel comfortable in talking about it... We shouldn't be able to se the keel of a ship from above water!! Not even a Cutter... this just make them look like miniatures... hahaahhah. And in storms, sometimes I can see the hull completely... like theres no water, just a thin mist... Don't worry... 95% of the time I'm immersively playing the game, really happy... but there's always a moment when I see this... and them suddenly I'm not Jack Aubrey anymore... Im a dude sitting in a chair 350 miles from the ocean! hahahaah Making the water less transparent should work... or just darker colored
  12. Mostly because no one knows how she looked like, we know how many guns only....
  13. Was it the HMS Rose replica? Re-named Surprise? Or the HMS Surprise, originally the Unité? I'm pretty shure its the Unité, and I'd love to se the HMS Rose in the game! They are very similar, but most of the diference is on the upper deck!
  14. Hey, where can I find more info on this? Very interesting! I've read a book written by Jean De Lery, a French that came to Brazil around 1580 he talks about all the crew from the Nau he was jumping on the sea in a warm summer day... and how he was afraid of the sea and stayed in the ship!
  15. For me the Trincomalee is already a little bit to young...
  16. Well, I personally think that this game's community is bound to grow, a lot! But if not, them I agree with you... It all depends on map-size, normally I see around 200 players online in the game, evem few players like nowadays its a lot for 1 server, based on general server sizer around other games!
  17. I think that the solution for the time frame problem(even ignoring the 19th century, from mid 1600s to 1800ish is a lot) is to not alow a player with a 1800s Constitution to get in a fight with a galleon from 1670! We could have servers based on time-frame... say, Server "A" - 1600-1750, and Server "B" - 1750-1820... or something like that! That also solves the problem of a big map, wou can have your Constitution based in the Carribean in the 1800s server, and your Galleon based on Europe on the 1650s server! Like this you dont need to cross the oceanto be able to experience both places!
