  1. Good lord look at that beak head... No thanks. While I appreciate the fact that the dev team throws it to us to pick which ships will be included into the game, something is becoming painfully obvious. There will be a preponderance of British and American ships. Spain, France, Denmark, Sweden, Russia all had pretty nice designs, let alone the Dutch. All of which at this rate, if the pattern holds, will have very few ships.
  2. This aught to get your feet moving. TO QUARTERS! Though it does conjure up some looney tunes tripping scenes lol
  3. Is it just me or did the beak heads become horribly ugly the further you got into the 19th century?
  4. Potbs name: Jack Naseby Potbs server : Antigua/Roberts Potbs society: Royal Red/Saint George Squadron of the White (SGS) Potbs nation: British NA IG name: Balck Stopped playing PotBS in 2011. Portalus and P&P debacle didn't help. Went back to full time WW2OL and found other games to play.
  5. Very much a 17th century looking ship. When was she built?
  6. Nine pounder broadside, up 18 lb carronades optional. Better turner than Surprise but not as good as Snow, two to three knots slower than Surprise. Also, stern chasers. None are shown mounted but the ports are available.
  7. Agreed. My favorite time period for naval design was mid to late 17th century. I think it is because each ship had a personality of its own. There weren't preset classes per say. This didn't prevent them from producing massive numbers however. The number of ships involved in the large/decisive battle of the period dwarfed Trafalgar.
  8. That's actually not uncommon. As Mirones stated, it was usually done to allow room for the gun crews working the guns on either side of the stairs. What is uncommon though is seeing round houses on a ship this size
  9. MUST HAVE! Should be right before the Surprise. Oh, and I LOVE the lines and the paint scheme.
  10. Dang it Wind... We should let you put together the list of ships to vote on Thanks for these.
  11. And a personal favorite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3IDwyQcy_4 Baggy posted this one but I actually prefer this version by some old salts.
  12. She'd make an interesting starter ship alongside the Lynx. That and you'd get to sail a ship you've been looking at since your early years
  13. To be frank, I LOVE late 17th century ship designs. They were just stupendously beautiful. Things become more standardized in the 18th century so some of the charm was lost. That said, there are few sights that fill me with wonder than sailing ships. The HMS Prince (1670) would be a sight to behold for sure. It was the main reason I piloted that as my first rate(s) in PotBS. Still, I'd love to see her as Royal William. Mind you, the ship was in commission from 1672 until 1813. Thought you'd love this http://www.milebijelic.com/?page_id=4
  14. Bump in hopes of seeing her in game one day.
  15. He was an undercover apprentice at a Dutch ship yard for some time. He used what he learned there to develop the plans for the Ingermanland. You can see the Dutch influence most clearly at the bow when compared to Dutch ships of the period. I fell in love with the ship the moment I sunk one in my Posti way back in pre launch of PotBS.
  16. I'd prefer her as the Royal William to be honest. Given the game's time line she'd look antiquated in her original form.
  17. It sure isn't on the list as a second rate 107 of that class were produced. More than any other 74 gun third rate by far. They were THE 74s. So, if no one can tell, I really want it in the game
  18. Closer to the Centurion than the San Fernando for sure, but certainly not the same ship.
  19. By the way, if we get a new third rate, the Temeraire better be it. That class was not only the most numerous of the type but defined the 74.
