  1. A T-Snow in the hands of a PVPer can obliterate most PVEers. And the T-Snow has almost the same firepower, bow and stern chasers, and a good sailing profile... oh and it turns better. Currently on EU, pirate chat, I might see something said every 5 to 10 minutes during EU primetime. Unless someone is talking trash or crying about something.
  2. I think what would help is if they had an aggression timer. Any ship involved in combat can not enter port for at least 30seconds.
  3. But yet the Russians made it... hmm.. did they even see the Caribbean in the 19th century?
  4. My hunting Renomee does currently, 15.2knts at its best point of sail and 10.4knts at 60deg into the wind. With Area Control I can keep most ships from escaping while I just run them down. In OW I just get as good a tag as possible the first time and they wont get away. The problem you are having is trying to catch this ship in the windward isles. Which is a tight packed area easy to escape in. Try laying a trap for the person... sometimes it works.
  5. Still wondering what happened to the Xebec.
  6. You are thinking all wrong on how to counter this. If you are dealing with a ship that can out sail your ship at most points, get at a point where he cant. I have yet to have an LGV out run my Renomee, or my Prince. Both of which do in excess of 14.5knts and I dont even have good mods on them.
  7. This is a sign you need to get out away from towns, away from friendly ports. On EU server I hunt far from most pirate ports (I am a pirate there). And on Global I am Spanish, and I will patrol the US coastline or the northern Yucatan coast. Never had an issue with smuggler flags.
  8. Honestly it isnt the Smuggler flag as an issue. If you get jumped by a LGV or PLGV near a friendly port, and get capped or sunk, that is on you. More so if you are in a warship of ANY rating. Sorry but any captain that loses a 5th rate frigate to a PLGV is not worthy of his command to start with.
  9. Nope you're right. I looked around last night while on PVP-Global, didnt see one Bucentaure, only Pavels, Ballonas, and 3rd rates.
  10. As a guy who has used the Smuggler flag option as a LGV in the past... WAY before this patch, I find it funny that people are just now complaining about it. I used a Trader Snow to hunt in the Bahamas before the wipe and people didnt complain then. It only had 6 guns on it. But was more than enough to take down unarmed trader brigs. I used an LGV as soon as I could get one, and used the smuggler flag... I would catch trader brigs running from Bermuda to the US, or elsewhere then take the goods to South Carolina and sell them. But people didnt complain then. Now that there is a Pirate LGV people cry about it. This has been an issue for a while and no one said a thing. So if it wasnt an issue before, why is it suddenly a problem now. Learn to hunt better.
  11. LOL you all are having enough "night" flips without Christendom.
  12. Actually it is an Ape with a cigar. Monkeys have tails.
  13. As far as I can tell on most ships it isnt that big of a deal. But when you start getting into the really heavy woods like Live Oak, you will see an increase in hull repair numbers. For the most part they stay pretty stable on the smaller unrated ships (6-7th rates).
  14. I am sure I have seen a Buce in a AI fleet.
  15. I get what you are trying to say, but the problem is the game does not work like that. The crew is not client side, it is a server tracked object. Even the models in game, if I see your guy scratching his head, you will see the same thing from the same guy at the same time. While it seems simple it is far from it. The current game engine while powerful has its limitations. It does physics calculations better than most but slows down when tracking other "scene" items.
  16. Again... it is not the "physical" models that is the issue, it is the data that has to be sync'ed all of a sudden. Nap-TW is an offline game with an online battle mode 1v1 so not much needed information wise.
  17. They tried having expensive crews... that was about as popular as the "fine woods" patch. Crew used to be I believe 500 per man. Which mean if you got sunk in a Santi you pretty much were out a half mil easy in just crew.
  18. I mainly use frigates or 6th rates. And even on those if you build it to heavy of a build you wont be able to do a lot of things. Like my Reno, I can stay glued to most larger rated ships stern pretty easily with its current build. And if things go poorly I can easily disengage by turning away and accelerating to max speed before they can even bring their guns to bear. As for acceleration mods, I think Copper plating effects your drag coefficient which effects your acceleration and deceleration.
  19. Which effects your turning through the wind. And turning in general. It doesnt effect the turning speed (degrees per second) but it affects how your ship handles through the turn. It will feel sluggish compared to a ship that is better accelerating. This makes a difference when moving for a raking shot or when trying to run down someone.
  20. Then any time boarding happens there will be an information transfer spike that will lag most people when it happens. Like when a ship joins your battle instance.
  21. It isnt as simple as that. Not with the current game engine. And I have experience with the current game engine because it is basically the same one as Kerbal Space Program, and I have done modding for that game. Because the waves have to be sync'ed so that if one person shoots a wave, it registers on both ends there is a wave there so no shots shall pass through it.
  22. Not a huge fan of any build that slows down the ship. As most ships already are pretty well built. I prefer the Teak-Mahogany (some speed, but not paper) or Teak-Sabu (cheaper tank build that doesnt sacrifice speed.) My hunting Renomee is Fir-Teak I think.
