  1. Port-Au-Prince - it was close until the battle started. Who the heck thought of scheduling a PB on valentines day in the late afternoon? I guess the USA / GB players have no wives or dates... or they don't now... The defensive fortifications don't do much damage... it didn't stop those US/GB players swarming that circle.
  2. Fleet or non-fleet would have similar results. But yes, deliberately take missions, then quickly exit to ensure they generate aggression for the opposition. Whether Pirate or a Nation it doesn't really matter. It would seem the larger the ship used, the larger the difference in BR after the instigator exits. Given most missions have slightly more BR for the enemy to start with, picking a regular mission and exiting would create the largest imbalance and result in the vast majority of these missions completing with aggression for the opposition. It is also possible to get this to work the other way around - but it would take a little more work than immediately exiting. Once you get ahead in fleet missions, exit and leave the AI to clean up. What would normally take 30-40 minutes to complete, would be finished in 20+ minutes.
  3. on a completely different note, because we were unopposed, I just sat in a circle and waited - and was very surprised by how much the wind shifted in this battle. When the screenshot was taken, we were around 600 points into the battle. By the time the battle was over (about 15 minutes max), the wind had shifted 90 degrees.
  4. A balance would be nice though.... I struggle to understand some of the players for GB & USA. They only fight when they have significant numbers advantage and bail out of port battles when there is a chance they might get sunk. Why the heck did all the USA/Dutch leave the Pirate PB yesterday? Looking at the screenshot it looked like a perfect brawl was about to erupt. Why are they playing PvP? PvE is more suited to their actions. We are seeing far more PB's where USA/GB don't enter the battle - even though they are right there. But they are afraid they might get sunk. I've fought plenty of losing PB's (far too many), but I enter the battles and stay to the end. I set myself an objective (cap a mortar brig, sink a player, etc.) so I achieve a personal goal even when we lose.
  5. Another empty port battle. Cap Francais. A few GB players showed up at the port, but did not enter the PB. Sorry Erik - you joined after this was taken...
  6. The timing on battles like this highlight the '46 hour' PB scheduling problem. Players play on weekends, want to do something meaningful, but create PB's at a time when few are going to be playing. It's not unreasonable for them to play during the day on a weekend - but it makes no sense when it creates PB's at times like this. I know the whole PB scheduling is going to change - and it needs to...
  7. An awkward time for many - late-morning eastern USA time on a weekday. Most of the Danes would be in bed by the time the battle started. I was at work. While I prefer evening battles, I can make the early morning battles if they are before I must start work.
  8. From earlier today - at Ciudad de Cuba. 25 Dane/Swede/French versus 1 GB player in a small ship... plus at least 1 more French player outside that couldn't get in. 8:30am eastern time. While 1 GB player joined, several chose not to join the port battle. There was only 60+ players online at this time.
  9. Thank you The site is running much faster...
  10. I have not been able to get into the wiki in the last few minutes - keep getting a page not found.
  11. yes. not only is it boring, but very difficult to stop the big nations from instantly generating PB's. When just 1 person (me) can get Texas from 0 to 100% in 4 hours, the system is broken. ...and before you ask, I don't use the War Supplies approach - I just think that is a broken part of the game - and one exploited by players using Alts.
  12. If we can get Spain into the Dane/French/swede alliance it would be good. It would give Spain some hope of getting regions back - and might serve to get a few players to go back to Spain.
  13. Yes, I thought there was a general agreement to not push nations back this far... but oh well... we will keep battling.
  14. While the pirates help the French & Danes, we cannot setup buildings in those ports - so we have to buy. Silver, and to a lesser degree, copper are the issue. We can buy enough Live Oak now the Pirates have that region - so that helps - and for mahogany, we can get it via smuggler ships. But again, silver is the main issue. With the Danes taking Ponce this morning, that helps.
  15. Many of the clan are still 120 and under - so we need to get them up 1-2 ranks.
  16. We need to start battling over some shallow ports.... 1st rate and 4th rate battles require mortar brig or higher - so the junior players can't all come with mortar brigs. At the Windwards last night, we had a player who wanted to get in, but the BR wouldn't let him... There are just SO FEW shallow port regions on the map now - especially on the eastern side of the map - zero.
  17. Ponce this morning 25 dane/swede/French versus 13 US/GB/Dutch http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=860880438 11 of the US/GB/Dutch stuck out to fight. Two quickly ran.... Hello EagleRu aka Eagle RUN - do you ever fight? This is the second battle you've run away recently.... I can see why you are not in a clan... Maybe RabbitRun is a better name... http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=860849914
  18. SINK just recruited our 19th member. 12 have been playing in the last few days. Many are new to the game - and we welcome all players - new or experienced. Contact me or any of the SINK clan officers if you are interested in joining. .
  19. TS - somewhat... we need to get a new one setup. We are sharing today and we need our own.
  20. The G does not always come up easily or quickly. There have been times when I am angled bow into the enemy I don't get the G to appear until I turn the ship a little. It can be frustrating - but I can always get it to appear (which is more than I can say about the darned X for putting crew on a captured ship - that often refuses to appear)..
  21. Yes, it irritates me when nations/players choose not to defend a port as they think they will lose. I very much appreciate the opposition turning up and putting up a stiff fight. I've fought in far too many losing battles - but I always show - the USA took the French regions in the gulf - 6:1, 17:1, 7:1 in those - and I fought and had fun. First Texas battle - went in with a heavy rattle, came out on a heavy rattle and a mortar brig. Louisiana - went in on a buc, came out on a renommee...
  22. Port-au-Prince from earlier today. 25 Dane/Swede/French against 17 USA/GB/Dutch A good fight
  23. Really over the course of the last week. It is very difficult to get peak numbers as we all have players in different time zones.
