  1. Will there be an add on or two where you can increase the supply or stock of your ships, for example adding fishing nets or other specialist sourcing equipment.
  2. Venetian Frame Design I have been trying to do a little mini project by myself recently about the construction methods and different designs used in Venetian framing, the project is mostly centred around a couple of charts in Vascelli e Fregate della Serenissima by Guido Ercole but I am hindered by my inability to speak italian and pressues on time, I will still try to finish off my mini project but I sadly cannot see it happening in the near future. Meanwhile I thought I would share a little bit of the information and the charts I have so far. I do hope to translate more of the text over time 1666-1775 The design was modified over time with successive ship classes, the design was strengthened during the construction process of the Aurora in 1696 and there were further modifications during the designs of Lorenzo Zustinian, Leon Trionfante, San carlo Borromeo which changed how the overall thickness and how the framing was allowed to flex and strain with the rise and fall of the waves but for the most part this distinctive design was kept to for the century period. The roots of this design comes much more from the influence of galley building, it created a fast ship that would flex and heel fairly frequently, it also had the benefit of having uniform parts that could quickly be made to replace damaged or worn parts. The main drawback to this is due to the live nature of the ships they had to spend more time in maintenance and had to be more scrutinised by the tests undertaken by the various officials responsible for how seaworthy the Venetian Fleet might be at any time. 1775-1797 The design became more like standard framing practise, the lower funds available to the Venetian state meant that high maintenance ships were too costly, while the designs still favoured fast nimble ships, which is where you see the Venetian take on what is commonly known as super frigates develop, the latest Fregete Grossa designs, the Fama and the "1780" would encompass this less unusual framing method but a variety of timbers were used in the framing process to give it an almost composite bow effect where the ship could still flex and bend to create high speed but had a less maintenance heavy lifespan. I will keep trying to find the time to give this the proper research and translation it needs, when I can do it I will likely repost it to the history forum with more details. but I thought it would be a nice point of reference here for now
  3. While on the topic of duelling, could we please have a server based leader board, a small change to see how you rank on the server and be able to reference and see how you and the rest of your clan rank in comparison to each other.
  4. That apple shaped hull is very interesting, what is the benefit of shaping the underside of the boat like that?
  5. Can we have a rough idea what the current ideas of the price will be please? Will there also be a couple of basic different tiers of crew eg. Ordinary vs able seamen?
  6. 1) I like frigate battles more since the last update, they feel tense but sturdy at the same time, its a good balance. 2) Indecisive battles are fun if they have tension and you are tested in skill but not when they drag on for too long and lose their effect. 3) I can't say without some suggestions to what the tweaking would be, I feel like marines should be able to take part in basic tasks like bailing water and putting out fires but not with gunnery, carpentry (fixing leaks) and sailing.
  7. I was aware but thank you all the same, the slider is good to a point but is quite limited when you are looking at things working in the millions, it has only really become a problem since the clan warehouses have been released.
  8. Could we please have a usability small change to the slider function for buying/selling resources and putting in and taking out money from the clan warehouse. I would like to see either the ability to type in a number or hold down CTRL or SHIFT to add or subtract in 100s or 1000s. Both working together would make a nice difference to the usability of the slider system, especially seeing how since we have clan warehouses you sometimes make large deposits or withdrawals of hundreds of thousands of gold.
  9. I keep forgetting it's no longer 2015 time is starting to go by too quickly If saying she's french too gets her a better chance in appearing then I am all for it but we all know at heart napoleon was saved by a venetian ship Also just as a little add on I hope your finals are going well for you wind
  10. Can I just inquire why the ships submitted on the Italian thread don't appear on this list? do we need to gather more information ect? I am really surprised to not see a few, especially La Muiron appear on this list. which has now had its own thread dedicated to itself
  11. This sounds really good to me but would asking for morale in normal combat and an addition of a sharpshooters upgrade module be too much to ask as an additional something for these suggestions?
  12. oooh a new 76 is always welcome in my eyes, be nice to see some smaller 3rd rates though, 64/6 guns or so, I am looking forwards to trying it out and seeing how it performs compared to the Bellona and 3rd.
  13. This is a really good list, somehow I haven't found it before, perhaps I need to look more deeply into the happiness chest that is the NA forums. it does kind of draw attention to the sadness there are no Italian ships at all, its a real shame, partly because there seems much less documentation and imperialism in the time period but still it would be nice to see a couple make their appearance, personally, as you might tell from my signature I would do anything to see the Fama and La Muiron in the game, they are just very interesting designs and ships, although I am not holding my breath .
  14. Addressing he cannon loss is the thing that I like most, I did a duel yesterday where I managed to kill my opponents cannons to the point he could barely touch me despite being on 2/3 armour, I am really glad this has been changed
  15. I was trying to be fair and honest about how I feel around the topic so it was a bit of both really, I like the idea but worry it might cause some other issues. I never felt particularly troubled by not using mods on the smaller ships when I play with them, but I do want the smaller ships to be more viable myself too, its hard to argue with, my main concern is how this affects notes, high grade notes can be a pig to get hold of already and exacerbating the problem just worries me, but then perhaps they should be more sought after. My feelings are that high level crafters and players won't like the change, there are enough people complaining there aren't enough end game ships, restricting their supply could drive people off but I might be wrong, personally I prefer to play in frigates and 3rd rates.
  16. While I like the suggestion in theory, I don't really like it on a practical basis, sorry. I think med notes serve it well, because of the percentile in these upgrades the lower tier ships don't receive a huge gain from the permanent upgrades except for speed and turn, I rarely outfit my smaller ships with upgrades anyway, not because of cost but more because I feel like its a bit of a waste unless I really like the ship and intend to keep it forever. When I was a low rank I saved my extra notes up to buy me the regular upgrades, then only once I hit sailing a trincomalee did I bother with upgrades. While there aren't many real drawbacks I can think of, apart from it will increase the price and scarcity of already rare high notes that is quite a big thing. My advice for anyone on the low ranks is to try and aim to sort out their regular upgrades first, save up 4/5 mid notes then ask a friendly level 50 crafter to produce an upgrade that can last you a lifetime
  17. Sorry to drag up a post from the past but the venetians tended to use smaller, lighter ships, they didn't really take the SoL concept that other nations used, their naval doctrine coming from centuries of galley supremacy tended to blend much better with the more frigate style tactics of the golden age of sail. If you look at their hull shapes they do tend to resemble super large frigates rather than ships of the line, their rating system also represents a lower Tier system much like the Dutch, where the largest ships, the primo rango rating is between about 60-84 but it's rare for, especially in this period for venice to construct ships above 70 guns, let alone 84. Venice did make some super huge ships in the past, the grande galleone for example was a 140 gun car rack, built in the mid 1500s but their dockyards and naval success had always relied on a backbone smaller ships, this period is no different. I would rate them more like a super heavy frigate than a ship of the line
  18. The one I know about that was produced post build is La Muiron, Napoleon ordered the ship for himself as an ornament because she saved him from certain death or capture in Egypt.
  19. I would like a Fama please!

  20. Not totally, Models were used for all sorts of reasons, generally they were used to give an accurate visual aid to what the shipwright wanted to achieve, they were often later sold onto collectors or gifted to important dignitaries once their use had expired. They did use models for much the same reason that you said but they were a multi use item, used similarly to when modern industries like architects use a scale skyscraper model to show what they intend to build
  21. I play on PVE, so I would suggest that it's likely that I have seen more AI than most, It does occasionally do silly things, especially when there is a big mix of ship sizes but its really much better than it was a month or two ago. The reason I picked the AI taking control of a ship was because it strikes a much better chance than just becoming inactive. I would much prefer the very rare chance of the AI crashing into something than my ship just being a sitting duck for a few minutes, if your ship is sitting still for 5-10 minutes as you fix your connection you will likely receive more damage than from being rammed, or ramming anyway. The way I see my suggestion being implemented is so that if you lose connection the AI takes control, you have the setting to either fight or flight which is decided in an option screen and then the AI takes that action. You should gain no experience or money for the damage the AI does, mainly to stop AFK levelling or combat gold farming. The system is purely to give you a safety net for both ends, The current servers sadly aren't the best at maintaining a stable connection and people are always subjected to things like ISP outages or power cuts, it just needs to be a simple something to at least give some chance of not immediately losing a huge asset from only 301 seconds downtime. Perhaps to please people like erickiller we should give a 3rd option to just have the ship wait for you, not doing anything but just not letting the AI do anything with your ship. On a side note, something I feel bad about but feel the need to show honesty is that I have tried to report a hand full of bugs in battle but every time when the report sends I disconnect, it leaves me with a very low incentive to actually report in battle bugs properly because of the risk involved with connection, I would feel much happier reporting a bug if I knew the risk of losing my ships should i struggle to regain the connection wasnt so high.
  22. The AI really isn't that bad, it does some odd things but its not that stupid.
  23. Glad to see its going to be lower, although I hope the current values are repeated on a smaller scale, its a really nice system but just needs a bit of tweaking and fine tuning, thank you for addressing it soon. But its how it was, the basic absolute advantage of the santissima was silly, it was bad for gameplay, its so much better as a comparison now, the difference in the current build is fairly tiny, its only 10% when you compare to the broadside weight the santissima still has about 15-20% more, too much min/maxing is poor in any game.
  24. I am sorry if this has already been suggested and this is a duplicate but could we please have a feature where the AI takes control of a ship when you disconnect from a battle, with the potential for an extra feature of setting an option to try and get the ship to either fight or flight from the battle? Personally I have worked very hard to get where I am on NA right now and what I fear most isnt the enemy ships its a brief loss of connection for that tiny window of 5 minutes and one second, leaving you the potential to lose so so much when you are in a first rate. even when you are in a lower tier ship losing a dura can have a huge affect on the value or feel to a ship and losing it for a disconnect is just cruel, especially with the slight stability issue the servers seem to be having right now, personally I sometimes gage points of time where I feel condemned to the chat rather than actually playing due to disconnecting 5 or 6 times in the space of half an hour. The benefit of having an AI take control means that you still maintain that cut off point where a player cannot just pull the plug to save their ship in a losing battle but gives people who are genuinely subjected to issues but still give you that important safety net for the pool of resources you worked so hard to achieve. Please consider this proposal, thank you for reading.
  25. What about something a bit different like a Polacca? It seems to fit the description well The plans show an armed merchant vessel, the model is very similar, if not the same hull design, but outfitted for combat support, both are Venetian.
