  1. Yes, starforce sucked. It would mess up your machine.
  2. If an enemy merchant ship or privateer is in view the captain is not going to have a court martial for capturing it if he doesn't have a more pressing matter to attend to, even if the ship is a lot weaker.
  3. Small American "squadrons" will once again declare the entirety of British coastline blockaded.
  4. IIRC, in the logs Naval Action asks steam for authentication. That is why when Steam is messed up we can't log in to NA. This is a type of DRM because you won't be able to play without steam. This is good. It stops the game from being cracked because steam will have to authenticate your key.
  5. By the same definition any national naval captain and crew could be considered pirates as well just by taking an enemy non commissioned ship. It's the same difference between gangs/murders/thieves and Military Contractors (except privateers aren't typically paid by the nation issuing the letter of marque). Military private enterprise.
  6. Having a DRM is important. It assures that Game-labs gets their money and keeps our game running with new updates/content. And steam just makes it 100% easier for the end user (us).
  7. If 1790 is the latest preferred date, they have an odd way of implementing that, considering the majority of ships in game were launched AFTER 1790, and one in 1813 and the other in 1817....
  8. When I was in High School and College, I disliked steam because of DRM. No way to crack games that way. That's the only reason why someone would have a problem with steam and DRM. Now that I have my own money (and computer that I dont want to get infested with malware) I use steam because it is the easiest thing out there and they keep my games for me so I dont have to have cds. They also update games for me. Just buy the game and use it through steam. It really is a convenience. Just might be a little tough on the wallet because of all the advertisements of games P.S. Steam isn't always on. You can also go offline.
  9. You have to have a dx11 compatible card. It will not work with dx10 or below at all. You need to check the manufacture specs to be sure it is dx11 SM 5.0
  10. 3 more votes to tie with USS Independence, 24 more votes to tie with Indefatigable.
  11. I know Leviathan is an instant target and for people who have instant name recognition it is frustrating to be the target and there isn't much you can do.
  12. We aren't going to get the USS Independence. It isn't even close to being the top vote in the rates. And even if it was, the devs would be out of their minds to make it. Why is it even on the list?
  13. I'm not talking about the Leda class frigates.....
  14. I think you need to read a little into Britain's response to the US Superfrigates.
  15. What era is that? We have ships designed in the late 1700s and early 1800s. The USS Constitution caused the British to design a super frigate and completely redesign their 3rd rates. The Constitution was launched in 1797. That means the game should be set in the Napoleonic/War 1812 period in my opinion. You know, when the irrelevant US navy took on the British navy. Why keep designing games based in the 1600s and 1700s in the Caribbean? That theme and eras are over done immensely. And again, the largest society is currently a US society, so the US should probably be in the game. Otherwise, we might as well take out the Lynx, Constitution, and Trincomalee for that matter. The first Leda class frigate was launched in 1805... Lynx (1812) HMS Trincomalee (1817) Leda Class Frigate (first 1805) USS Constitution/US Superfrigates (1797) Surprise/Unite (1794) HMS Bellona (1760-1814) HMS Victory (1765) HMS Ontario (1780) Santissima Trinidad (1769)
  16. Two British ships are considerably higher than the USS Independence. If 20 people removed their votes from each and vote for the Christian if they haven't already it would win. Also need people to vote for the Rattlesnake and Prince
  17. This part I agree with. The USS Independence wasn't even used in war and as a 1st rate was only ever used in 1 deployment to the Mediterranean by which time the mission was over before it got there. Why we would need it I have no idea.
  18. I wouldn't mind the French corvettes but they are way out of place and have no chance at winning. I'll go for the American Rattlesnake.
  19. Why would flying a flag give a bonus beyond morale? How does flying a flag increase grape damage?
