  1. Rattlesnake and Prince de Neufchatel are perfect for privateers or fast lightly armed military escort/scout ships. In the open world they would be indispensable. Especially with the travel times the devs are suggesting. There would be no better ships to sail on the open seas prior to sailing frigates. Screw taking the snow and sailing at 10knts across the open world, I'll take a nicely designed and very fast schooner (Prince) or miniature frigate (or whatever you would call the Rattlesnake - sloop of war?).
  2. People like rates because they want to turn it into potbs. Luckily in this game a frigate can easily take out a bellona or a bellona can easily take out a 1st rate if the player sailing the rate doesn't know how to play. Is it just me, or should 1st rates be similar to titans and super carriers in eve and other high level ships? Hopefully once open world comes and people grind into rates, we will see many of them sink because of stupid mistakes, and people won't want them as much and won't sail them without a proper escort. The large rate battles are pretty cool, I just hope they are mostly confined to major operations and the majority of engagements are small time with a 3rd rate at most. Rattlesnake and the Prince would be perfect for open world. Fast, nicely armed, etc.
  3. It's not an error. It is just that K and L when pressed bring up debugging logs if you aren't typing a message.
  4. Happens to me almost every day. I have already reached the limit today and have several more posts I want to like
  5. I was going to suggest Hornet and a few others. I'll post them here on Monday.
  6. They are restarting the server...again guys, this belongs in the Sea Trials forum....
  7. Not just to lock, but to move to the Sea Trials forum where threads about Sea Trials belong. Anyway, servers are up.
  8. Who said anything about "every single american ship ever built must be modelled here"? Prince de Neufchatel is the only 18 gun schooner mentioned in the list. Rattlesnake is a 20 gun corvette that has 3 masts and wasn't used on the Great Lakes so is quite different than the snow. Can I say that not every ship in this game must be a line ship or 4th or 5th rate? We should be heavier on the small and medium ships than anything else.
  9. The largest society right now is a US society and there are several US societies. The US navy might have been small but the US had hundreds of privateers. US action on the seas was primarily a private enterprise.
  10. Well considering the largest nations in the game will probably be Britain and US, that is the reason why a lot of people are voting for those.
  11. Man there are so many good ships and I selected many. Top of my list though: Prince de Neufchatel (1812, American 18-gun schooner) This would do wonders to balance out the smaller ships. We are in despirate need of a ship that is different than the snow and brig in the lower tiers. For speed reasons, this ship would be very useful on the open seas and is a perfect ship for a privateer.
  12. That's awesome Northern. I really like that style of artwork.
  13. It would be nice to have a strike colors option. Also, unless the enemy boards you to capture your ship (should be free action that doesn't take casualties), you should be able to undo it if the enemy leaves you alone. (think British account of Decatur) This is most definitely needed (and I would guess highly likely to be implemented) for open world. Could prove to provide interesting gameplay.

    Hello everyone!

Welcome to the game. Hope to see you in game. Once open world comes out be sure to fly the American flag or a flag neutral to America and all should be well
  15. I have been watching that game for awhile. The part where the players work together to man the ship is cool. But yes, different type of game than NA.
  16. They send out keys on the weekend so you should get one this weekend.

Nice, I should have thought of that, but I haven't seen any issues related to av in a couple years now. Modern AV tends to run smoothly when just running on-access scanners instead of a full scan, but I've never used bitdefender. Thanks for posting your solution, most people don't do that. Did you filter out the AV in your process manager log? It should be in there.

Posts about in game stuff like bugs or freezing belong in sea trials, not general discussion. There is a similar one there. Edit: The post I originally posted in was merged with this one by the admin.
  19. For the system requirements you might want to include a bit about confusion with directx. Just because your dxdiag says you have directx11 doesn't mean your card supports it. You need to double check with the manufacturer as you stated above. This is mostly an issue with integrated video chips in laptops instead of discreet video cards. Some people have become quite upset because they have looked in dxdiag and it says they have dx11 when actually their card is not compatible with dx11 so they need to check the specs on their card instead of looking at dxdiag. So, if you have an integrated chip, here is a list of intel chips (Intel HD Graphics): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_graphics_processing_units#Seventh_generation Basically, in this list anything in the 7th generation should work with Naval Action. Those before the 7th will NOT and there is nothing that can be done about it except get a new computer or if you have a desktop computer get a video card. I do not know much about amd chips as I have never owned one or if I have it was several years ago: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_graphics_processing_units#Comparison_table:_Mobile_GPUs
  20. That is the best idea about signal flags that I have read yet. As long as we don't have to have a code book and the game will translate for us then I think it could work.
  21. Ok, yes, you guys might have fun per se (sinking) but it won't be as much fun as we yanks have while blockading all of the ports along the British Coast
