  1. well we could have a few real life tool. An officer could give you a y coordinate at noon every day... And a chronometer gice you an x coordinate at noon... Those could have a larger range of error if quality of both are poor... Also a marker could appesr on the map if you near coast line... a good quality navigator could placea marker as soon as he see land.... A poor one only once it sees the town... But the feature i want is some course plotting course and mayber a header bug on the compass that you would have to manually set...
  2. well i think pretty much all the feature expected for ea release are here.... Crafting, Conquest, etc.... I think all is left for EA is a bit of UI polish and we`re good to go.... Don`t forget EA will stil be development..
  3. Gentleman... I am a former TAA now under Enfants du Roy.... Yes we are a french guild, but being billingual i can help and assist in you endeavour. I am also based in Canada so working on eastern time zone. I am usually either around Plymouth or Near Haiti... Feel free to contact me... here or in game
  4. It was mentionned that we might get some kind of npc freighter.... Here what i suggest.... Make teleporting only aplicable to the charscter.... Add transfert contract to have npc carry the goods, i would make them real npc ships that you can set their course from port to port. Add option to add escort and insurance on the goods.... No more teleporting huge amount, the goods have to travel the OW... If the convoy sail close to your nation port they should be protcted by the port patrol. If this is implemented with port battle and ownership change. You could make safe trade route. Raiding npc would really hurt the other side so would patrolling trade route. And it would remove the long haul of good for the crafter which can be a bored ( as dev always say nice the first time but boring the 100th time)
  5. SInce all coordinate are in a plane and not a geoid, I`ve imported all known port into Autocad and made a simple map without land mass, it`s really accurate to give bearing, problem is trying to incorporate the lands accurately. I've also made a simple calculation tool with excel that can work with given coordiante in the game to give you a heading. I also caclcuated roughly the speed in knots to map unit of distance ratio and came up with a rough speed calculation. I think the only nice tools they could add on the in game map would be a protractor, a compass and a way to plot our own course. you would never really get your position but you could manually put it and then plot a course. Maybe the map could automaticaclly put your location once you see a port. and maybe a navigator officer could locate you with varying degree of accuarcy. a chronometer of varyting quality could also give you one of the coordinate at noon.
  6. i think that`s a must have, I have been toying with this for quite a while... I even made a few tools for myself

    Cannons

I was at Fort Anne, in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. and i`ve found a french canon. I included picture of it, i assume it was maybe a 9 lbs, I found it hard to guess the caliber. I also assume that cannon to either be a replica or something imported for the reconstruction of the site. Fort Anne was french until 1710 when Port Royal, and the rest Acadia was given to the English who renamed it Annapolis Royal. The canon as the date 1756 engraved, I know it`s french because the words `la Rugissante` (the roaring one) are inscribed and the phrase `Utlima Ratio Regum` (the final royal argument) which is a phrase Louis XIV had engraved on his canons and i noticed also on canons at Les Invalides in Paris. Any idea what caliber they are.
  10. That place is 200km from where i live...And i am acadian, so we`re tenacious people you can kick us out and will come back ;-) And today is also my birthday, everything is in everything.
  11. Im intersted as well, like i mentioned earlier, and the added bonus of being billingual
  12. Je suis presentement avec le Auld alliance, mais comme le clan est sur le respirateur je regarde mes options. Je suis canadien francais et je me demandais si vous avez des membres de ce cote de l'etang?
  13. Soo what sre the ingame names of the one still with the auld.... ? Is there another french fleet we could join?
  14. I think maybe the term "port battle" is misleading. Maybe we could just change it to "fleet engagement" and it could be better. They we re exciting in Potbs because it was the only large scale battle, but they were a pain to grind and sometime included a lot of downtime for not a whole lot of actions.
  15. i m trying to think outside the box here. Lets say you have temporary ownership of a port after a your side won so many engagement. You effectively control that area and the other side is not tryin to regain that port and it's not contested. After a set of time the two waring nation have peace talk and trade ownership. I have no clue how such a system would work im just brainstorming. I don t like the idea of one port battle deciding who own a port. I d rather see a system that naval actions are required in order to gain a port. Blockade, supply of troop and supplies, protection of those convoys. Essentially ports were won by land forces.
  16. I like the idea of a serie of engagement that add to a total warscore a la crusader king or eu, i also like the idea of sailing to battle but maybe we can make the radius quite large.
  17. I just totally changed subject and been playing Kerbal Space Program.... I still see explosion but they re usually not on purpose.
  18. i played countless hours on mount and blade but never much into MP. If a regiment form i`d be willing to join. I tried L'aigle too, but i was really hoping they`ve but the freelancer mod in. I've search boney all accross Europe to swear allegiance and finally gave up lol, Might give it a try again.

    A first for me

Well i own 100% og game la s products.... It´s nly 3 product but still a first for me lol...
  20. I don't have much issue with the brig in itself, but it seem to me that he took me a lot more battle to upgrade the first time, im up to constitution and i was able to unlock a new ship after pretty much 15-20 battle, which seem right... Brig took me 32 battle.... maybe the damage required is a bit steep compare to what she can deliver...
  21. i read somewhere that gunboat will be included at some point, altough my definition of a gunboat is a rather small boat with one or two bow guns
  22. well NPC are in im pretty sure, i just would like to see more than some fleet that spawn at point A travel to point B and disappear, with a big sign that says Merchant or Navy or Pirates it should be possible to make them more like a part of the living world....
  23. well it,s not a military simulator but it`s definetly more hard core.... One shot won`t always kill you but will really make your life hell.... i really recommend it... It's by far the most interesting FPS out there for me... and i have`nt really played multiplayer where i heard it really shines....
