  1. I remember you all that this is an Alpha game: perhaps at launch the extra Nations will be evaporated, assimilated, atomized. PUFF! Who knows?
  2. Is it the naval version of Baba Yaga’s hut? I didn’t know Royal Navy captured it from Russian Navy...
  3. Don’t worry: sooner or later they will argue each other and there will be another split, and again, and again. Those stuffs are soooo dynamic...
  4. Of course he is: we cannot even use air interdiction in this game...
  5. Empire rises, Empire fallen. Just the Ent stay...
  6. I smell ragequit at 33 degree NE. “Shall we check if there are survivors, Sir?” ”Aye Lutennent! Perhaps we could have a good fishing. Do prepare a rope too, just in case” ”Aye aye Sir! All Hands on deck! Prepare a lifeboat and some musquets! Go!”.
  7. No worryes: as it be crafted, she will sink, just all the others
  8. Sadly AI will never have the behavior of a human player. Or, better, it could learn from its mistakes, but at the end it will be too strong for almost everyone, so newcomers will be completely out. More: AI cannot play "experience tricks" as an expert human can do. Anyway it cannot have the creativity of a human player. I played in the past a game (War in the Pacific, from Slitherine, Matrix Games), with an absolutely awful AI, but wonderful against humans. NA is more or less the same: AI good for learn, but the real fun come from human opponent.
  9. (Out of Character) I took a combat mission for the 6th rate ships and I went there with my brand new Snow. Three pirate ships waited for me, there. Nothing i couldn't really handle, if I play wise, taking them one at the time. I put my ship with the wind at 140 degrees and I waited the enemy placing in single file, more or less. Then I charged my stern cannons with chains, shooting to the enemy sails. At this point, my wife went and asked for this and that... I put at max velocity my ship and I did what she wanted. When I returned, the Pirates were gone and all I could do was hit ESC. My plan was shooting with my rear cannons until all three ships were at max 40% sails, staying at a range of 4-500 meters, than turn in circle and shoot at hulls, but one at a time because the AI gunnery is very very sharp and be shot with 30+ cannons at a time could ruin your plans for the day... Nothing happen due my wife and her requests.
  10. Hey folks! I need Grog. Rum. Whisky. Wine. All possibly strong. Very. I barely escaped from 3 Pirates. Three. Damn. Pirate. Ships! And damn the Admiralitiy at Carlisle that gave me the mission and didn‘t tell me about three ships. I only wanted to help Great Britain, keeping out pirates from our border. And what the Royal Navy do? Gave me a mission that i cannot accomplish. And now i have to go in Admirality to admit my failure. Those filthy clay brained. Those scurvy bilge rats! Look, look at my hand: it was iron, now it tremble like a porridge during a volcano eruption. Never. Never ever belive the Navy. Barman, another something, but i want it stronger!
  11. Nothing new, under the sun... did you ever read Das Glasperlenspiel by Herman Hesse?
  12. Gentlemen, everyday I read the last Caribbean news but I noticed a very disappointing lack of creative insults. The Sirs warriors should be aware that we, Users Jury, will not tolerate it. But we are good fellows and we, in name of Our Holy Kindness, decided to help all those poor in spirit that need to be guided through the Right Way of the Perfect Insult. http://intellisult.com/ http://insult.dream40.org/ Please, don't thank our Jury, we just doing our duty.
  13. For you should be easy, for me will be a real challenge... And of course I suck in this game: I am a newcomer. Try please to be in my shoes: I know little of game and I have to fight against 3 enemy ships. Yes: I have to do and do and do and do this mission until I understand what I have to do to win. I am a newcomer, just like the tons of newcomers that will come in future, when the game will be finished. If you think like so at we newbe, plz, don't try to help us. We will learn alone
  14. Yes, ok, but the new player should be not double tied to the first clan-job he meets. Maybe someone, just as example, join a trader clan because he/she thinks this should be a cool idea. Later, he/she realize that trading is definitely not his/her way and he/she wants to "kiss goodbye" his/her clan. This should be allowed at any time he/she wants, with the exception that once he/she left, this clan is lost forever. This to don't create situations in which someone go and return at will.
  15. Not a very god idea: pirates will be IMO one of the reasons new ppl will join us...
  16. I already saw green ships built by users in shops
  17. I see it as a DLC, a little program built just for analysis. If you are interested (maybe as a clan) you will buy it, otherwise you can ignore it.
  18. Well, maybe scuttle (not scuffle) could be a solution for ganking. No PvP victory points gained... Often the ganking fleet tag you again, and again if you try to escape due the too short time you were invisible. Self sinking frustrate the fleet and as a result, could be less ganking.
  19. Thank you for the answers to my cannons question. Now another question: was in the sailing age well known the concept of "Task Force"? I mean a "standard" fleet which within there were certain ships with own role (protecting big ones, tanks, flanking ships...). Of course I know, a fleet was assembled for a certain purpose, depending of purposes in mission, but I wonder if there was some standardized places within the fleet.
