  1. Always the same speed, always the same rotation (counter-clockwise) and off the top of my head it's about 42 minutes for a full circle. They have been talking about having different winds in OW since early alpha yet it wasn't ever implemented AFAIK.
  2. Saturday (or might have been friday?) night I headed straight west out of Tolù with one of my ships. As I always do, I was scanning the horizon for enemy players. 2 minutes out or so, I spotted an NPC fleet (my nation) and then a few seconds later, I spotted a Russian enemy player. I was sailing a USS United States, looked through my spyglass and it looked like a 3 decker, so prob 2nd or 1st rate (I don't know my ships too well). At this point the player had turned my way and was coming for me, so I started turning away. He was maybe 1/2 in range (visible horizon vs my pos) when my game froze/crashed. I alt-f4 and relogged very quick (can't have been much more than 30 seconds). When I came back, the player had vanished and the NPC fleet I had spotted was still there. I was still headed west, a tiny bit to the north (I was making a right turn).. but the player was gone. I still turned around straight east to go back to port. Didn't have my sextant equipped, and soon realized I seem to have warped, because I was now NE of Tolù, very close to those little islands north of it. So I seem to have been warped away NE during my disconnect... A good 2-3 min sail away from my disconnect position. I asked to speak to the Russian player in Global to see what happened on his end but got no reply Obviously the first reaction of a few of my clan mates is that it was some kind of exploit/hax by the Russian player but I don't see how/why that would be, in the end I look like the guy who hacked himself out of a fight.... Unfortunately I did not think to immediately report it or save any screenshots. Anyone ever experienced something like this? Anyone got an explanation?
  3. Will do when I get home. That said only anti virus/firewall I got is the built in Windows 8 thing and it seems to me if that were the issue it would be constant, not just every couple days. I can get to the server choice, then character choice, then enter game.. just hangs there... Next minute I try it it works... Or doesn't for several tries and then does. Will review antivirus logs and add a free pass on NA in the firewall and see if it helps. Will also send report next time I get the issue. Thanks.
  4. Hello! Been back to the game for 5 weeks now. Every now and then when I login, the game will hang on the "Entering Port" wait screen OR right after the dock is displayed. The game and sound hangs and nothing ever happens from there. I can usually just restart and it'll be fine, but other times it can take 5-10 attempts or more. Last night I had the worse case of this ever and it took me about 30 tries to finally get it working. Rebooted, updated gfx drivers, checked game files integrity through Steam, nothing helped. Any idea what's going on??? I see the game sending crash reports when I start after such a crash, I assume you guys have some data to work with. Note that my computer is an old wreck, it's been acting up a bit but I never have that kind of issue with other games/soft.
  5. Sounds like an issue that can be handled with moderating rather than an issue with what I'm proposing specifically.
  6. This could be misleading... A group ganking a single bigger ship would look awkward Imagine 5 princes taking on a Wasa and actually pulling it off
  7. What kind of arse bothers a victim to laugh at their demise? What if there was a Nation combat news that gives that info for nation kills? This way the enemies would not get the info, but nation members would be able to communicate with the victim?
  8. Sorry if it's been suggested before, but it would be really nice if: 1. We could see the name of both players when a kill occurs (right now we see the killer's name but only the nation of the victim) 2. In the same vein, it would be nice to see the nation of both players as well 3. Gravy on top: If the names could be clickable so we can see info, send messages, etc to either player it would be nice. We very often see nation captains get sunk and they rarely report any info on nation chat. Would be nice to be able to PM them for info on their misadventure. Would also be nice to be able to taunt enemy players in our waters, negotiate 1 vs 1, etc. I think these little changes would promote more PVP and not only that, more quality PVP.
  9. IMHO if anything failing to deliver should incur a significant penalty, you went out with the goods and not only failed to deliver them, you also lost them. Like others said even an Indiaman costs less than the average cargo mission and can carry 5 in its belly, what's a 75k ship to a 750k haul?
  10. The Snow is a very agile ship with guns all around it (most smaller ships have only bow or stern guns, not both) so in the hands of a capable player it's an unforgiving little bugger. Even AI snows can be a PITA depending on what ship you're sailing. Practice builds experience and experience is king, just keep at it! You could also find a friend in another nation to practice PVP without sinking each other. You can learn a lot fast doing that, especially against a skilled player that can give you guidance on where you can improve and what errors you are doing.
  11. Never seen this kind of behavior from anyone on the dutch side but like I always say there are idiots and arseholes in every group/clan/nation.
  12. Hey fellow players, MCC is looking for new blood! New players, casuals, hardcore players, transfuges, PVE, PVP, crafters, traders, anything goes, we are down to very few active players and I'd like to breathe some life back into our clan. We have a small core of very active players, US times mostly. We'd like to have you. Noob friendly, we'll help you however we can, teach you, etc. Hit me up in game!!! Or add me on Steam (Deicide666ra).
  13. Things might have changed cause I had a warship at West End last week when the Russians capped it. I was able to teleport there and sail out in my warship no problem. No Russians in sight either and made a clean escape. It was a few hours after the cap, so prob before any maintenance.
  14. Give us the ability to see the ships at sea while we're docked and you have a deal.
  15. You can create a contract without an outpost, been there, done that. That said I agree, delete contract seems like a totally useless option
  16. Had this issue for a few weeks, updated my gfx drivers last night and I've been good since. Bit early to break open the bottle of champagne, but worth a try.
  17. There is a ship mod for this, got two fighting/looting NPC fleets of 1-2-3-4th rates. Never used it but it gives like 40% more chance of catching fire and extra damage when you blow. I think there is a perk or skill book that also helps a tiny bit.
  18. Got my first one last night, close to 3 weeks of playing 10 hours a day on average most of it at sea. Got my first deadman's chest an hour later too. T'was a good day!
  19. I don't understand why they even decided to have more than one server with the agonizing pop. I'm not even a PVP enthusiast and I play on the PVP server... Absolutely no issues.
  20. In port on top right there is a menu item for rewards and stuff, you should see the Pandora redeem card there if you have it. Not sure who got it or not.
  21. Ahoy, nice fight, was a lot of fun, thanks for accepting the challenge! I'm Die Antwoord in game! It was legit my first PVP encounter since I came back to the game after 3 years. I expected to have more issues keeping you off my stern, you def had the manoeuvring higher ground. You took out my stern carros and 5/10 carros on each side, hehe. A+ le cousin.
  22. I got 150 hours or so sailed in the last few weeks since I came back, I have yet to see a bottle... Yet some other guy was bragging earlier this week in chat about getting his 3rd bottle in a week. Shit luck I guess..
  23. Perhaps a little bit of history is of the essence to put things in perspective. Remember in alpha when the pirates were totally crushed by the USA in the Caribbean? I was part of them at the time and within a few weeks, we had lost most ports, Mortimer was being camped 24/24 and it was pretty much impossible to play pirate. Well we organized, picked one of the few very far initial pirate ports (namely, Aves, which wasn't a Free Port back then) and from there we launched attacks on the French and pretty much took all of their ports. We then moved against the Brits which had several ports north of the French... Then the Swedes, Danes, Dutch, etc. Nothing could stop us! That said there were lots of clans, most of which had different opinions on what to do next and eventually the great pirate alliance folded on itself, over half the active/bigger players left for either the Dutch or Great Britain and within the span of a few days, the pirates were almost dead, unable to even defend shallow ports. The takeaway here is that the bigger a nation becomes and the more aggressive it gets, the more likely people are likely to defect or simply not work along towards common objectives and eventually it all comes tumbling down. Russia is the biggest but they won't be forever. At some point another nation is going to pick up steam and the sheep will flock to the new herd then everyone can bitch about the new world order. If there is one suggestion I'd like to make that was already proposed 3+ years ago is to allow National packs, let the smaller nations form alliances allowing the alliance members to participate in battles. This would allow the struggling nations to ally with bigger or other smaller powers to ensure their survival/protection.
