+1 BUT.. You should get a %(say 15-25% of the killed) of lost crew back as they are never really all killed.. many are just hurt and out for short period... Also for captured ships the same... Then assign 10% of that ships crew from your ships as prize crew to sail it home.. That crew couldn't fight the ship but could sail it... You also need to seriously look at the Morale/Boarding system.... Far to many times a crew is still fighting when it is at 1 Morale and outnumbered 2-3:1. -

Just think it is funny we get accused of Zerging... I dont think we have used a fleet larger then 12-15 guys since the East Coast Push/.. Most the Gulf of Mexico (not all but 90%) was done by 5-7 man fleets that were bored because only 1 or 2 WBK<pretty sure it was them) guys would show up to fight -

Allow Clan Ship yards to be built. Then any clan crafter can build ships at them if in that port. Or allow a player to toggle his shipyard to Clan use

ONy if they make it cost a LOT more Labor hours to build ships... the biggest ship in the game can be built in what? 4 days if you have a group making the parts while the main crafter saves up hours, Henry Ford would be amazed:) -

War and Port battles rework - moderated

Very long thread so tossing an idea in here that may be buried in the previous 7 pages.. if so sorry Port Battles... Should be a combination of BR and ship type limits... ie... Capitals High BR to be determined BUT no more then 3 1st Rates and 2 2nd rates total per side... These ships should be RARE... At Trafalgar when the 3 most power fleets in a world met there were only 7 1st rates and 4 2nd rates out of the total of 74 ships involved. Normal Deep ports only 1 and 2 of each the rest 4th and 3rds Add in a Medium port(say the Shallows that all ships can actually dock at now) Where it is 2-3 4th rates and the rest are Frigate sized ships... Shallows as they were before you locked the ships smaller then a Brig out All Battles Open Water and Port also need some setup love... in Port battles the 3 sections would be marked in battle at least to friendlies by a different flag so you can more easily track who is Squadron and who is not... Open world should have the same thing.. Allow Groups to sub divide in OW into Squadrons so that when battle starts they can move together... Remember in a naval battle you had lookouts and officers keeping track of these things.. the captain wasn't doing it all by himself. Just a few ideas... Thanks -
Salvage Yard.... at each level you would get a bit more parts for breaking up a ship. Lvl 1 5-10% more Lvl2 10-15% Lvl3 15-20% Just an idea toss it around and shoot holes in it

Yes and? I am saying Boarders (ie sailors assigned to board another ship) Would Not be using their boarding weapons to shoot at a ship until ordered to prepare to board... Until that time they would be doing normal sailor combat duties.. Sails and guns.... SO you are saying exactly what I said. Except the primary force during a boarding action was the crew... the Marines were just to small a number to be teh only people boarding -

What? Boarders didn't pick up their cutlass and pistols until they were about to board.. ie Boarding prep.. otherwise they were part of the Sailing and gun crews... There is no one to protect the gun crews from until a boarding action starts. Standing around with Muskets they would just be in the way of the gun crews and powder monkeys -

I think the other way... No Fleets if you are grouped... or in Port Battles... But if your running solo with your extra 2-3 ships and get attacked or attack someone fine... Just not in a group setting. Fleet ships should never be larger then 2 rates smaller then Flag ship and should able to be purchased and assigned like normal ships.. so buy one.. add your upgrades and gun loadout like a normal ship.. then assign it to the fleet. Once in the AI Fleet status that is where it stays until all Durs are used up(so people cant store extra ships there) -
Actually tonights patch should fix that,,., You will get dragged into fights that start After you spawn now if your 30 sec imer is up(if the patch works:) Why 3 min? there is a 2 min timer on a battle and if you spawn after it starts you can't enter it period.. Except the new Capital zone defense battles hey never close. and a Port Battle since your in the port already you can join it as it should be(also tonights patch)

Allow people to hire up to 3 AI Squadron ships to sail with them.... These ships should be limited to Frigates or smaller... They should also be ships you actually BUY and add upgrades to if you wish.. Once assigned to AI status that is where they are.. no taking them out for personal use... But you should be able to add the new officers ect to them if you wise.. They should NEVER be allowed to join Port Battles or Group Missions.. These would be for playing in Open world..... Just an idea... You already have the AI mechanic just would need some adjustment.
