  1. I still recall the first battle you led me into the French battle line.Nash: "Set a course for 70 and do you see that little gap just behind Des Moins in their line? We all aim for that. Everyone!" All: "Everyone? That little gap would barely fit a cutter?" Nash: "Yes, eyes closed and full sails, we will be unstoppable." We crashed into their line, breaking it, had concentrated fire of most of their fleet and a few of the ships of their startled captains panicked. A great knife fight ensued before we magically with a few orders were in a line again with the right wind on the enemy fleet. That was some impressive stuff you pulled of. And yes, I had my eyes closed just before impact as I was sailing point in that battle. ???? I still call it "the Nash-maneuver" and couldn't reproduce that kind of madness even if I tried a thousand years, although we still used it afterwards in a few battles with great success with Pietjenoob. ???? You are one of my favorite fleetcommanders, Nash.
  2. With buying a new rig every year, I can only say that Steam is the most appreciated service (right after our city garbage collection) in my life. ;-)
  3. There is a sharp division in the British nation too JollyRoger. Always has been. Just like in the Dutch Nation, just like in other nations. People that always fight, people that do stuff without consent of the majority and people that just don't give a fuck. I find it troublesome that, just because there is a vocal Dutch thread from a rather eccentric Dutch player, people of other ingame nations seem to think that it is only a Dutch Nation problem. Think again, look around. Don't be naive. These threads are only giving an impression no nation wants, despite that we still fight, despite that we are defending tooth and nail. So far we are still in the game. I regret the picture this situation paints also of the hardgaming Dutch defender and will do everything to bring focus towards the diversity, tenacity and ingenuity of the common Dutch captain that fuels the awesome fights we have in these wars. No one man, and no one thread can take that down. This goes for all the hard gaming captains of all nations to be more precise. Let's not try to mend what cannot be restored, but support those that build what can be accomplished. Thnx, LP
  4. LOL. Just as Powderhorn got rid of the goats, Leku tops it with a Lion. ????????????
  5. Lets follow our world leader Tenakha an like our own post too!
  6. XIX has always taken the middle ground in the Dutch Nation discussions (and will continue to do so). I argue that a united nation is a utopia. The Dutch (especially you Pellasgos) are a bit more vocal about not having it, I guess. The real question is when it becomes disrespectful, and there my Pellasos you have overstepped a line of decency too be honest. You don't need that, really. It also serves no purpose, other than generating a bit of headshaking and frowning amongst those Dutch captains that are wise enough to value the words uttered. Many in the Dutch Nation actually do not care of your internal personal vendettas as long as the ships of our Nation's captains keep sailing and the guns blazing. Stay classy. LP.
  7. The out of the box answer to this would be: "Then don't use a basket".
  8. Don't get wound up over what is said, only over who says it. Pellasgos is our Dutch Nation wildcard, our own Hannibal Barca, dropping his elephants in the room. Unfocused energy that is ready to be unleashed and crush *everything* that is crossing his path, even if it creates internal troubles. But most importantly, remember he is .... *our own*. Never forget that Dutch Nation. Strength does not only come out of unity, but also in diversity and individual contribution and sacrifice. Creating trouble might be a strong point of this hero, but a hero he is. If we can deal with it, I'm sure our allies will do the same. The British especially, as they know their Shakespeare and understand what can happen if a nation in peril starts to cry havoc and lets slip a real dog of war!
  9. That is because you are just that good, Vicious. No one can resist the power of [sORRY]. If only we had the kind of players you have in your clan.
  10. Yeah, weird eh, but to be honest, you should ask the French why, they are providing them to us.
  11. LOL, this is the humor I appreciate a lot! Good show Vazco, I'm sure many will take the bait. See, here is the first. btw. The Dutch ain't poor. Warchests are still full and the clans report solid shipyards. If someone doesn't want a war of attrition you better think twice on attacking the Dutch, as wars against us are not cheap.
  12. HahahahhahahahHHbhhhhhHHHaa .... WhhahhahahahahahaaaahwwhHaaa ... You are giving me a heart attack! ... Belgium have you seen Germany? Nein. Man, awesome.
  13. Hahaha, awesome Aegir! I think we found our internet mascot. I have my wife already knitting a cute orange spencer for that adorable fluffy honnybun purr tiger to complete the picture!
  14. We accept your surrender if we either get that set of collector clogs or the cat. ????
  15. As it yn 't Frysk moat, kin ik wol helpe. If it should be in Frisian, I can help.
  16. Hi Fletch67, Don't forget that the British (like the Spanish) have been targeted and at war almost continuously for months now with several other nations. That is not easy. Where "the East" despite some really hardcore wars, kept talking to each other and eventually even granted their communities a well deserved break, it made sure that there was "an ending" to a chapter of hostilities. People need endings, preferably happy ones. We all knew new wars would come and would be necessary for our playerbases to keep it fun, as much as a break is also sometimes necessary. Talks and reasoning by good people of those communities ensured that, although not everyone agreed, treaties and ceasefires held steady and fast. This has never really happened to the British or Spanish playerbase, apart from selfimposed ceasfires or eventually the Three Admiralty treaty that only lasted a short time. I for one have great respect for the British and Spanish players fighting those continual wars without end. I'm not sure I would like to play like that myself. It is also what is still missing from the alliance/diplomacy expansion and is repeated a few times by other players in this thread. Wars are great, but they need an ending (e.g. by reaching certain conditions) so a new war can start after perhaps a few days of a well deserved break. I'm sure the Devs are already thinking hard on improving on this first iteration of alliances/diplomacy. Perhaps the all out wars we are declaring now could be war declarations just for certain regions or territories in the future; who knows, but improve it will over time, I'm sure of it. Take care, LP
  17. Internal strife is of all times and of all nations. We (the Dutch) are like a Hydra, one head may lick you, one head may sing to you, one head may yell at you, but in times of peril I've always have seen the Dutch clans do their duty, and that is to turn the heads in the same general direction and bite back where it is needed. Yesterday a main fleet in our western fronts turned a Danish 1st rate fleet with some clever fireship tactics yet unseen on a scale like it was executed by Vasco / Pellasgos and his warriors. nlGuinnesnl of the Arse clan led a succesful defensive fleet against French agression towards Fort Oranje and a fleet of XIX and DAS defended the fake Spanish flag on Fort Zoutman and took back the regional capital Caracas as the opportunity arose. All at the same time. I'd say that is pretty good collaboration between parties of a Nation with internal problems. Strife, perhaps, worries, for sure, positivity, still there. It is not coincidence that the Dutch motto of Concordia res parvae (Unity makes strength) was changed over the years in the motto:Je mantiendrai (We will maintain); strength does not always come out of unity, but we know it also comes out of diversity and individual contribution. Hence I will say to everyone listening: We are the Dutch Nation; in all of its diversity and impossible personae! We love this game and we love playing it with you!
  18. In name of the Amarr Empire and the Cutatores Veritatis Alliance I hereby claim the New Providence region.
  19. The Dutch are now in a pretty defensive position, but not because of the Admirality treaty, but mainly by choice. It is tough on us now, I agree, but my goodness what a fun battles you guys (French/Danes/Spanish/Pirates) are granting us. Every last Dutch fishing cutter we have is drafted into "the dreaded Dutch fireship fleet" (hi Danes) or certain keypoints are defended 'till there is no mast left standing and costly repairs and replacements start to hurt our opponents (hi Pampatar). We try to make a war against the Dutch not cheap and we give it our best to bring a (almost) non whining opponent to you with creative players and with ports that have a vulnerability that also suit our opponents to bring good (and foremost memorable) fights. The most active clans within our nation might not always agree with each other on how to achieve that, but one thing is certain, we stand united in giving you fun and know that we appreciate every battle you give us. I hope you guys will continue see us as a foolhardy but creative bunch of gamers that don't mind loosing, but still want to play to win. It is something we really are trying to work hard on within the Dutch Nation. We certainly see a lot of you guys that way in return. With respect and love, Lytse Pier Heer van de Rekenkamer, XIX
  20. Your excellency, Lots of those wrecks seem to be of Spanish design, but still show British flags? What happened? If the Dutch Squadrons can assist with some towing and salvaging to relieve some of the burden, let us know. Lately we have become experts through experience for sure. Kind regards, Lytse Pier. Heer van de Reekenkamer, XIX.
