  1. But don't worry, they still have over 9 million tries before stuff locks up.
  2. Did you guys actually say "Radio Mouskouri" in the vid? As in Nana Mouskouri?
  3. Oh, and we love the new surroundings. So much love to find there! Or is that Mickey Mouse?
  4. Ah, man awesome! The last part of the video with the singing and french music made me actually think back of my driving holidays through France only finding French music on the radio. ;-) Keep them coming! Loving it. Make sure when you catch me on vid and gank me, to send me a vid singing to me in chorus whilst I sink and I will send you one of me actually singing the French anthem!
  5. If there are no more questions in regard to the announcements by my council, or if there are no urgent matters that you guys want to be brought to the attention of my council in regard to our announcements, I'd like to consider this thread as closed. Thank you all for your contributions.
  6. You got it right, mate! Many thought that the old alliance was long and forgotten after quite a few new weeks of fighting in the second French-Dutch war, until it was conveniently used in the diplomatic talks by Kierrip. No hard feelings to that, as it was something that was certainly a loose end. But it certainly did not reflect the way things were and also how both nations felt. He cancelled it, even though we were prepared to reinstall it. Next we know it was on the table again, and then off the table again, and so forth. Not something that should be left unattended for sure. We are just affirming the cancellation to make it absolutely clear that it remains off the table in future talks. The Dutch Consortium will announce in any way we see fit. If things are not clear our diplomatic core is ready to answer any questions that should remain. As to tl;dr's, there are quite a few already provided in this thread.
  7. There is a truce between the two coalitions of Danes-Norges/French and Swedes/Dutch as described in this thread: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/14809-preliminary-treaty-of-the-antilles-commerce-and-free-navigation-valid-as-soon-as-the-four-nations-sign/ I'm not sure you need an oculist, but I am glad I could point you in the right direction, sir!
  8. I see many French players confused. Read closely. The French cancelled an old alliance (that was drawn up after Black Friday between our nations after the First French-Dutch war). We are just affirming your councils decisions that was ventilated by means of your diplomat (Kierrip) to us. We also think that with the continuous fighting and the new truce between the two coalitions reflect the situation nowadays much better between our Nations. Let me try it in French, sorry for the misspelling, but I hope it clears up things a bit: Votre diplomate Kierrip, en face de plusieurs tapis de diplomate néerlandais, après des semaines de combats autour de Pampatar ensemble, annulé une ancienne alliance entre nos nations. Nous affirmons cela. Il n'y a plus que la trêve entre les deux coalitions.
  9. These announcements by the Dutch Consortium don't say anything about what you should do? For what nation are you sailing captain? France? Are you sure you are in the right thread?
  10. Like I mentioned in that peace by truce treaty thread: it ensures a period of peace, not a period of safety. ;-)
  11. Your Excellency, A most impressive announcement and I am sure that their voices will be a privilege to listen to. If you might be into music, I would gladly offer the musical services of my daughter (yes, she takes after her father in character and has his strong features, but the hair colour is distinctly from her mothers side). She performed a few days ago when a peace treaty was announced at the main square in Willemstad and left a crowd of over one thousand people speechless. I'm sure she will do the same with your crews in Havana!
  12. Understandable, but that would ruin the fun a bit though. The "Compagny des Heeren XIX" monthly figures are due in a few days, and as a public company we are obliged to publish our results. Looking forward to also announcements and statements of the other nations and companies in the game. Next to these Dutch announcements, I actually enjoyed the Spanish announcements and the Lord Vicious' pirate crew going mercenary that were posted not long ago. It certainly beats: I haz misclicked but am still awesomer than <insert random nation here>, look at these screenshotz of me being l33t! sinking <insert random ship here>.
  13. Hi Thomas, I've put a tl;dr in this thread with this post: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/14843-announcements-by-the-dutch-west-indies-consortium/?p=275504
  14. There will always be individuals in any nation that test our patience, Xaelendra. In the end it will be the those that kept their calm and thought before they spoke that pull the longest straws. I noticed you in many battles, and judging the responses in the chats afterwards, your straw will be among the longest. o7
  15. Hello Victor, Thanks for the question. There is a treaty between the coalitions of The Swedes/Dutch and the coalition of the Danes-Norges/French. This is what you read a few days ago, and read right. An old alliance/treaty between the French and the Dutch individually (that became after the first French-Dutch war) is declared void by the French and agreed upon by the Dutch. It reflects how the situation is at the moment between the Dutch and the French. Cooled down and reserved, but mutually respectful. We abide by the treaty that was announced between the coalitions in good harmony and invitation of the French Council. Time will tell if wounds will heal and smiles return. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to contact me or come to our teamspeak. Kind regards, Lytse Pier You are welcome to some awesome Dutch stroopwafels if you bring the wine!
  16. The thing is Guillaume, that we've been fighting since January this year for the same ports over and over. The French went as far as Caracas and the Dutch as far as Castries. I guess we all have reasons to boast. Although a lot of people had fun, doing the same thing every evening is not beneficial for a lot of moods. Repetition creates forms of agitation and even some misplaced animosity here and there. I really think it is better this way, and I'm sure that when new patches arrive things will be more dynamic again. For now, let's have some fights on the other side of the map and I hope to see you there, perhaps even guiding me through the treacherous shallows not around St. Jospeh, but this time around Tiburon.
  17. Let's see if it works again, like I did with the other thread: ... and they lived happily ever after. The end.
  18. And to add to that. The title Prince of Orange is actually from the area of the city of Orange in the current French Vaucluse district. This original Prince of Orange on his turn had offspring (William III of Orange) that rose to the British throne, which on its turn could wear the title of King of France (which his arch enemy Louis XIV surely disagreed with). Rather incestuous European relations we share in history, that is for sure. It was all about the money, I think we can all agree on that. Funny that the French overthrew their King to form a republic and the Dutch overthrew their Republic to form a Kingdom later on.
  19. Indeed, and this is exactly why this input is given to the community by the community. How much there is disagreement (as you can see in several posts in this thread), it will be worth a deep thought how much we want to leave these things to game-mechanics instead of to our own input. It does not warrant a complete player controlled environment however, as there are people who take things rather different than for example in the spirit of "playing together in the sandbox". I for one enjoy how it gets people involved in whatever role they choose, but am looking also forward to see the developers view on it by adding a few game mechanics.
  20. Yes, but doing it like above is way nicer! You can read the bold emphasized words in the original text to get a clear idea without a lot of other fluffy words. But to add: 1. Staaten Generaal ratifies a full alliance with the Swedes after King Gustav declared a law of: "like the Dutch or get flogged". 2. Staaten Generaal confirmes an anti-pirate alliance with the Brits and a mutual willingness in defensive actions to keep the colonies safe. 3. Dutch West Indies Consortium hands a Letter of Complaint and Abhorrence to the French Council. 4. An old alliance was cancelled by the French in word and action; Staaten Generaal ratified and confirms the dismissal of the old alliance, which corrects the current state of affairs nicely between our communities.
  21. Dag Kierrip, The French dissolvement of the alliance has been ratified by the Staaten Generaal, as I read it, and apparently it wasn't a big deal, as it was decided without the presence of the Prince of Orange. To be clear, you have broken nothing in our/my eyes, it was just dissolved, that's it, no more. I think we can all agree it is a much better reflection of the actual situation. And about the complicated texts, some texts are worth reading twice if you want to catch the full impact. If not, just once will suffice, and discussion can commence about what words mean, instead of what the meaning of the words are.
