  1. Why do you have a picture of my wife, Praefect?
  2. ... and don't be surprised if the favor is returned, accompanied with some stiff cursing and an occasional wooden shoe thrown in.
  3. Vicious, I really like the idea a lot and it will certainly spice up Nation gameplay in the long run. Reputation, renown and resources, the only three assets worthwhile in a MMO. Not everyone might agree on [sORRY]'s antagonist choice of role which would sometimes even make Iago's plan to conquer Othello's wife look like childsplay, but you guys are setting out on an interesting roadmap experimenting with this mercenary aspect of piracy. Exactly how things should be in early access/testing! Good job.
  4. We also have stuff for hire if you ever need anything, Lord Vicious.
  5. Having peace talks means that you are still at war. No ceasefire was agreed beforehand, nor would be viable to implement on such a short notice. It is the most normal reaction anyone might expect and is completely acceptable.
  6. Yesterday there was another hotfix, Aegir.
  7. Good way to play the game Lord Vicious. My compliments.
  8. Repeating myself to add common sense to the thread: The game is not broken, it is not finished yet. Subtle, but obvious difference.
  9. That's a Billy Joel quote in case you all were wondering. (sorry, merits of age tends to creep in).
  10. Indeed. Let us all laugh with the sinners instead of crying with the saints.
  11. Hello Kierrip, you are giving mixed signals. You read mine and Praefects statements above? We don't give a rats ass about the timers and stuff. That sort of stuff lies out of our sphere of influence and is considered developer territory by us. We know that only respectful and decent diplomatic talks will stop the fights with any honorable opponent; and you know how the Dutch think about the French in that respect. Do you want to have talks, yes or no?
  12. Goodafternoon Kierrip, Thank you for your wise words and the affable invitation. Our main diplomat and chairman of the Dutch council, Praefect, was on a shore leave for a few days (don't worry, this has nothing to do with the short hostage situation you put him in a few days ago), but he has been contacted by Flamigant and responded above. To add to his words and the discussion arising in this thread: The technicalities of the war do not interest us diplomatically. All is considered fair in war and love; We expect all guns, of all parties roar during any talks. Let us hope their dooming sound will be an inspiration for us all to give the talks a try. The Dutch reasons for entering the war were apparent. Our chosen strategy of a forward defensive fight against a threatening presence and a growing boldness of lawlessness and piracy brought our operations towards the Port-Au-Prince area. The invitation towards all our allies to support us in this endeavor resulted in joint operations with the Swedes. The Danes were growing restless about a Dutch presence and us taking the pirated ports and the French did not respond in respect of their alliance with Denmark-Norge. A defensive alliance between the Verenigde Provinciën and Sweden was effectuated before operations to ensure it was clear for all parties how we would react to any "backdoor" threats that might arise. And here we are, article 5 of the defensive treaty between the Swedes and the Dutch effectuated, our operations against lawlessness and chaos halted, black flags going up in numerous ports in the Carribean, The British alone in their valiant fight against piracy, the budding US-colonies barely holding out unsupported and a great mess of fingerpointing by people that are our only hope of stopping the self-proclaimed pirate lords ruining our European colonial endeavors. We truly understand the carefulness of the Danish and Spanish diplomatic stance towards the threat to their north and the position they are in. Like we mentioned, our Staten-Generaal and the Stadtholder back in Europe themselves have grown restless and disappointed by our trading companies not bringing in the revenues expected due to our current extra war expenditures. The Dutch motives are clear, Sweden will have a sustainable and thriving colonial presence in the Caribbean, law and order must be restored to let the trade (and its income) flourish again. Your initiative in looking into moving forward towards common goals is much appreciated.
  13. The game is not broken, it is not finished yet. Subtle, but obvious difference. ???????? And to be honest, joining the pirates now will only diminish the feats already accomplished by the 'older guard' of the pirates, like for example [sORRY]. I don't think that is neither fair nor necessary looking at the growth of, to keep in Jeheil's terms, Mordor. ????
  16. When we started trading Kanelbulle and Lussekatt for our Gouda cheese we became an even more weighty Nation. Still miss your insights, Hetwill.
  17. If find the current "Nation" gameplay very restrictive. You could make special Pirate content, however you could also see it a bit more generic. I feel more for a system that will give a player (or clan) more control over it's standings towards other nations and thus choosing his/her own gameplay. To be who I choose to be, so to speak. Let the now senseless sailing AI ships and the rest of the world react to that, also players of other nations. You should be able to declare yourself an enemy towards a Nation, and doing that to every Nation you may call yourself a true free man, a pirate. A true reputation. Furthermore, if reputation is what should precede you; when the Lords of a Nation decide that you should be an outlaw of the Nation, so it should be; One Nation's outlaw, however, might be the other Nation's celebrated hero. Fame, reputation, renown. Aspects that should be ingame to give the world a bit more spice other than just "I am a pirate" or "I privateer for the Dutch". I now cannot be a Dutch privateer hired by the Spanish Crown to hunt pirates and declared outlaws of their nation.
  18. "The will" of French dignity. So be it. Fair seas.
  19. This treaty has the potential to deliver for the truculent followers as well as for indomitable virtuous that will be left on the server alike. I wish you nothing but fair seas in the collective reminiscence of the choices that could have been for all. Good job!
  20. I drew the mission-card: Destroy all pink navies, if you are pink yourself hold 24 ports of your choice!
  21. As a strong proponent of law and order I have to regret your decision AUSEZ. I do however understand it. As the old saying goes: Chaos always wins, it is simply better organized. :-(
  22. It is safe to state that the Dutch are ready to find a way forward.
  23. WTF, Hethwill? You got a picture of me in your wallet already? You are moving too fast for me!
  24. Admin, don't make the mistake to lower the time it takes to kill/sink ships too much. The one thing I love about this game is that I actually can make a lot of decisions, brilliant maneuvers and stupid gameplay before the enemy sinks me. Things I always missed in a game like EVE-Online where you could loose a ship faster than blinking an eye. Balance is everything. The slower pace (and thus more opportunity to use my head and skills) in this games PvP area is a real treasure and one of its true strengths!
