  1. Very nice, congratulations and godspeed to you all!
  2. Naah, don't worry, it'll be nothing like Dutch politics. We're a multinational group within the Vereenigde Provincien, with Germans, Polish, Belgians, Cheese-heads, Greeks, Spanish, British, etc. Safer to say it'll be more like European politics.
  3. It's Dutch politics Galileus. One day at a time.
  4. Better dead than wooden sh... Wait, d'arvit,....., one day I will get this forum PVP right. ????
  5. Most of us BOAT chaps are Dutch to be honest. But we mostly speak English on our Teamspeak as there are indeed Germans, Italians, English, Irish and the odd United Statesman.
  6. You should discuss that with Tattan, Francis. You know I don't agree with his statement.
  7. Here you go: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/11385-pvp-1-french-and-dutch-successful-talks-and-non-aggression-treaty/?p=203486
  8. I'm still deciding if the last posts in this thread are full of sincere ignorance or conscientious stupidity.
  9. Now that you mention it, I am missing quite a few Danish Flags I had readied for our clan's nation change ...

  11. Dear Francis, There are many ways to cope and deal with what early access, alpha, pre-beta, is. One sees it as a serious task to take responsibility to make the game better, others have motives like seeing if they can break the game, or use certain features that were not intended as is.(Leveling up a certain way was a great example we had). Most people in our clan for example had a great concern that new players login into an early access game they just bought on steam got the wrong impression right away. Most of the time they do not buy the game for reasons to test it, but for whole other reasons. The game is before a grand public in Steam and most will buy the game because it looks simply gorgeous and who wouldn't sail a grand ship of the line like it was something straight from a Hendrick Cornelisz Vroom painting? We heard of quite a few examples of people that were quite confused only having one port and not being able to dock at other ports and gave up on it. It's a bit of an unwelcoming start to a grand game as this, I would say, wouldn't you? Ofcourse one can say: You're a tester, or harden the fck up - this is PvP -, or Explore the game in a different form, or roll a a different nation; but that is hard to do for Joe/Julie Average if he/she has not experienced the game yet from his/her own expectations. Our clan leadership presented that case for a wider public and I think there is much to say for that point of view, as many other clans also did from other nations. For record, I talk about it here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/11385-pvp-1-french-and-dutch-successful-talks-and-non-aggression-treaty/?p=202350 Of course we also all know that it was a completely different point of view than for example PFK and some other smaller clans had in the Dutch Nation. Also in other nations that completely different view held strong with good arguments for it. But so did our point of view. But that is completely ok. Really. Everyone can look at this unfinished game with his own mindset and motives. It's not a pissing contest in who is right, or what is the best thing to do, it is on how we each, individually or as a group, choose to perceive the game together in all divisiveness. In the end it will run its course either if we steer for port or for starboard on this matter. The Devs always win. For the record I say something about that also in this thread, here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/11385-pvp-1-french-and-dutch-successful-talks-and-non-aggression-treaty/?p=203486 So, having said all that. I agree with your point of view Francis, as much as I agree with the point of view of our clan as much as I agree with the view of, for example, PFK. We all are right in some way about this game and how we can play it now, and knowing that, realizing that we all are pulling and tugging at just one great Boats' Wheel together at the same time, I'm sure we will land somewhere beautiful. To all captains participating in Naval Action: I salute you!
  12. Orangists versus Republicans, protestants versus catholics, French Batavians versus Northern Cheese Heads, Friezen versus Groningers, even our famed Holland is divided in a North Holland and a South Holland. We can’t even decide which city should be our main city, so we gave The Hague our government, Amsterdam our capitol status and made Rotterdam our biggest port. Our fine Dutch nation has a tradition of being a cesspool of contradiction, of opposition and compromises. A pit of independent Factions all with their own agenda. It is what defines freedom. It is what defines us. See the Dutch nation as a Hydra, some heads may sing to you, one head may lick you, one head can roar at you and one of the heads may bite you. But tickle the body of a Hydra too much then beware. Beware that those heads can quickly turn in full unity to chew on you 'till the white of bone is visible to expose your sins. The treaty is what it is and all parties involved are fully aware of the details, and accept this with all the consequenses in awareness of who upholds and adheres to what. What is there more to say? If you cannot deal with our heads individually you’d better not tickle the body. Carry on PFK, you are one of our bravest and most respected heads! edit: spellzzz
  13. We'd swallow *anything* you give us with a discount, Hugo! edit: your post still has me laughing. edit2: and your forum avatar makes it even better!
  14. Wyspa, it is our common goals that make us formidable, but it is our differences that makes us friends. Don't forget that. Interclan relations are worth a thousand times more than screaming nation chats filled with spais and solo artists in an MMO.
  15. Napoleon said so himself, in politics stupidity is not a handicap. The thing is that people (even those clans in the Dutch nations opposed to a treaty like this) seem to confuse the intentions of DAS/BOAT for politics. This is not about politics, this is not about our friendships or quarrels, this is about keeping a playable game for all those new Naval Action enthousiasts involved. This is the case the DAS/BOAT leadership presents to all of us. Just a plain perception of what we think is the right thing to do as a group of gamers that love to have good fights. We find no joy in humiliation. Imagine an average Swedish Sven Knackebrot or French Guillame Pierrot seeing a game on Steam with awesome sailingships. Buys the game and finds himself in a one port nation surrounded by Vikings armed to the teeth and funny men with wooden shoes pointing orange painted guns at him in his basic cutter as soon as he presses "SAIL". It is a concern nevertheless that people mistake our support for this proposal as "leading the Dutch Nation" or the end up with a feeling of exclusion. We must explain it even better to our friends and foes, but also to our brethren what we stand for. A proud clan, with values and integrity. Who will answer any call of friends that need us and we will combat foes until our last cutter sinks together; but we will not be the cause of humiliation, disrespect or disgrace or make this game unplayable for others. Fair enough?
  16. Patience is a virtue. Peace discussions can sometimes be longer than the war itself! In my humble opinion. France needs an economy to become mighty foes again. We want mighty foes! Give Trinidad to the French and let them cross their heart and hope to die that they will hug us at least once a night, do battles in arranged PVP and selected Port Battles until the devs can see what they can do to improve the game mechanics. Of course is a French fleet of their brave captains always welcome in defending Dutch-Danish interests in the West.
  17. Admiral Caldwell, in your shocking call for having brave French captains joining your ranks, you called the topic "Free French", which means "Gratuit Francais". For all of you, see here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/11357-libert%C3%A9-%C3%A9galit%C3%A9-fraternit%C3%A9-free-french/ Now you scream out for the eyes of everyone to witness: "Fight Sweden", instead of "Fight for Sweden". I cannot believe that your choice of words is uncareful, but intended as such and I consider it an outrage, I say you, you are mocking the people that called you ally. Is that how you repay them? By rubbing salt in fresh wounds? I have been no angel in choosing my words in our colloquy, but this is below any standard.
  18. On an other note, I find it extremely shocking that Admiral Caldwell named his topic about a call for proud French captains to join his ranks, "Free French" and not "Free the French". Low blow, sir, low blow.
  19. I'd always take bizarre allies in war over a divisive peace with friends. The truth is that I need targets, that we need targets, our men need targets. Men like us were forged to wage war. For most of us, including me, we know nothing else. We do not captain a 74 gun ship and over 400 men to polish the guns and clean the woodwork. At least I do not. However, The results of the peace talks between the Danish-Dutch negotiators and the French-Swedish representatives have not been fully disclosed, but if the agreements are what they seem to be, I'd call them: realistic. Eat the last fish and the pond will be empty, never to bring forth the sharks we like to fight. Congratulations to our wise leaders and may we wage war until death comes to collect us all.
