  1. I would love to once-again be able to zoom in and around my ship just as a fun activity to do while sailing in OW. I use to entertain myself during many a voyage by just viewing my ship from above from the various masts, or viewing my ship from below deck. Being able to view your ship from any angle within a small distance (nothing extreme; one to five ship-lengths or so) would be a very nice touch; half of this game's allure is the beautifully crafted ships - giving us the ability back to fully enjoy the devs' and crafters' handiwork from any angle would go a long way I feel. And I am pretty sure that those extra few ship-lengths that you would be able to zoom in and out of would probably not be enough to be exploited in OW.
  2. Can we please have a setting that we can enable to prevent a small battle from starting if there is only one human player in the waiting queue? Or a 1 minute grace period within the battle instance in which you can leave without losing a durability if it is only you vs AI? I have played way too many PvE small battles where my opponents left at the last second or I forgot to leave the queue before the small battle initiation timer ran out.
  3. Cool! As a player who doesn't pay too much attention to the diplomacy news and loves solo privateering, this patch can't come early enough. I've had several occasions where I would chase and eventually attack an opponent, where only during battle I would be told me that we are actually allied
  4. TBH, I would be perfectly happy with a simple text box displaying the wind direction in 32 point format. More than enough information and relatively easy to implement.
  5. I wouldn't mind if the Devs just add another chat window, similar to the Global chat, nation chat and help chat. This will work better than having a separate window in the actual Duel page, as you will then be able to communicate and organise with people who want to duel, but are not currently in port. I would think that this quick fix would be the easiest for the Devs to implement at the moment. They can always add a more in-depth Duel page when they start working on the UI-rework.
  6. It took me way too many small-battles to realise that that one bloke "Blood" was actually an AI player and not a human. And I was actually greeting him in every game I saw him saying things like "Hey Blood, nice seeing you again." He never replied back so I just thought he was a quietish type of guy, but also someone who would always just go straight at the enemy without caring whether he lost his ship. A Team Player - not a very good player, but someone you wouldn't mind having on your team. Once I accidentally crashed into him and said something along the lines of "oh crap sorry Blood," thinking he was going to start cursing me in game, but he just went on with his business. Felt quite silly when I realised he was just a bot.
  7. That looks amazing! One question though : will ships run-aground with the first "land battle" patch, or will it be like how OW is currently (i.e ship comes to a complete stop with no damage inflicted near shallow water until you sail into deeper water)? Edit : oops already been asked. Should've refreshed the thread before posting ><
  8. How does it compare to the Aubrey / Maturin books? I'll definitely consider reading this after I've completed the O'Brian books, even though I've been reading them since 2010 and I'm still only at Book 5.
  9. How about some oldskool (even by Naval Action's time setting) early 18th century music by my man DJ Handel for all you hipster captains out there.
  10. I'd love to fire cannons in OW for just that very reason. Being able to perform a 13-gun salute every time you pass a Rear Admiral would be a very nice touch.
  11. Nice work! Unless I'm reading your chart incorrectly, I think you swapped "close-" and "broad reach" around on the "reaching" page.
  12. Is this it? Thanks for the bump. Planning on watching this tonight
  13. It was my understanding that rolling or random fire is used to prevent the ship's hull from being damaged by the combined force of all cannons going off at once. I'm basing this assumption on O'Brian's 4th book, The Mauritius Command, where Jack fires the Raisonnable's cannons in a slow methodical rolling fire to prevent her from tearing apart. So I might be completely wrong
  14. I'm firing up DOSBox to play this beauty tonight...
  15. So I've noticed that the anchors are completely in the way of the Mercury's two "Bow chaser" guns. I would really appreciate it if they could maybe lower or move the anchors out of the way.
