  1. La Malicieuse French 9-pdr frigate 32 guns 1756 - 1777 High res : http://www.sothebys.com/es/auctions/ecatalogue/2011/un-hommage-au-xviiie-sicle-adriano-ribolzi-antiquaire/lot.81.html Armament : (historical) 26 x 8-pd + 6 x 4-pd ; (in-game suggestion) 26 x 9-pd + 6 x 6-pd (broadside weight = 135 pdr) Dimensions : 124'0" x 31'8" x 16'4" Built by J.-J. Giroux at Le Havre. Plan of the sistership La Brune : http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections/objects/82724.html Information J. 2. Looking for light frigates (with plans from any nation of course) that could fill in the gap between the Renommée and HMS Surprise, that is : 9-pdr frigates (with 30-36 guns) and 12-pdr ones (with 22-28 guns) whose broadside weights are between 129 pdr (broadside weight of La Renommée) and 150 pdr (HMS Surprise). I thought that a listing of possible combinaisons of armament (with 9-pdr or 12-pdr on the gun deck) may help for future search. Data : Results : Combinaisons of armament that meet the criteria : 129 < broadside weight (GD+WD) < 150. Here are three combinaisons (GD/WD-fc) : 9-pdr/6-pdr, 12-pdr/6-pdr and 12-pdr/9-pdr. NB : in game, 4-pdrs on the WD/fc are replaced with 6-pdrs. For example, La Renommée carries in real life 4-pdrs on her WD/fc but 6-pdrs in game. Thus a frigate carrying in real life 20x9-pdr on her gun deck and 14x4-pdr on her WD/fc will carry in game 20x9-pdr + 14x6-pdr and have a broadside weight = 132 pdr (see the first line below). As shown below : 9-pdr frigates will carry between 20-30 guns on their gun deck, 12-pdr ones between 20-24 guns. Guns on their QD/fc complete their armament to meet the correct broadside weight (129-150 pdr) : 1) 9-pdr frigates (with 6-pdrs on QD/fc) 2) 12-pdr frigates with 6-pdrs on QD/fc with 9-pdrs on QD/fc Abbreviations GD : gun deck ; WD : weather deck ; fc : forecastle ; bw : broadside weight Calculation of a broadside weight : (number of guns on one side of the gun deck x caliber) + (number of guns on one side of the WD/fc x caliber). Ex : broadside weight of a frigate carrying 20 x 9-pdr + 14 x 6-pdr = 10 x 9 + 7 x 6 = 132 pdr Broadside weights are also visible on https://threedecks.org/ but might need some recalculations (8-pdr -> 9-pdr ; 4-pdr -> 6-pdr) : _________________________________________ Any correction in case of mistakes is welcome. Any idea of ships meeting those armament criteria ?
  3. Indeed ! But likewise the Friderichsværn (broadside weight with guns = 164 pdr) and the Nikolai (broadside weight = 264 pdr) are not light frigates able to fill in the gap between 9-pdr La Renommée (broadside weight = 129 pdr) and 9-pdr HMS Surprise (broadside weight = 150 pdr) as they carry 12-pdr and 18-pdr guns. However, you did your best. PS : L'Hermione couldn't fill in that gap either, even with only 26 x 12-pdr + 6 x 6-pdr (174 pdr).
  4. What matters is that it shows devs which frigate most attracts the fans of frigates.
  5. I haven't voted yet. I think I won't. For the first time. I haven't found my happiness, a ship I'd like to sail with. So I will let the passionate ones vote.
  6. I know... Thx for the advice. I'll be careful
  7. Given the facts that : there is 7 frigates already implemented in game that carry between 38 and 42 guns : the Surprise, the Cherubim, la Belle Poule, the Pirate Frigate, the Essex, Santa Cecilia and the Hermione, the initial poll 2017 showed no love for light frigates (32-36 guns) among which there was only one 9-pdr frigate (that is what we really need) the frigate that is the most voted in this final poll (for now) is the Venus that carried 40 guns there is no 32-36 gun frigates in game (gap #1) the French Hermione is said by Boudriot to carry, to be built to carry or to have carried (?) only 32 guns (26 x 12-pdr + 6 x 6-pdr ) : Can't NA devs make the Hermione carry 32, 34 or 36 guns by removing her 16x9-pdr guns on the weather deck and replace them by 6, 8 or 10 x 6-pdr guns ? Source : J. Boudriot, History of the French frigate, p. 156.
  8. Venus carries 40 guns and for now is in the lead among the frigates. Seven frigates already implemented in game carry between 38 and 42 guns : the Surprise, the Cherubim, la Belle Poule, the Pirate Frigate, the Essex, Santa Cecilia and the Hermione !!! Why not, instead of voting for the Venus, vote for a frigate that might fill in one of these gaps : Light frigates 32-36 guns Heavy frigates 50-60 guns ?
  9. That's what happened in the last poll in 2016 : all the selected ships were from under-represented nations. And it worked well. But the 2017 poll would have been the 2nd poll in a row with only underrepresented nations. That might have made devs hesitate. Morevover, they've always stated in this poll that their main current concern was about filing the gaps (ie the number of guns). Nations were less important, a matter of 'preference' : But I must admit I am more interested in filing the gaps inbetween the frigates than in nations...
  10. I read. I was talking about the selection before initial poll from which these ships have come. Sorry if it'd been taken too badly. I didn't mean that.
  11. Call that a double-bind poll : We want ships that fill in the gaps but we add ships outside the gaps (Venus) We want underrepresented nations but we add well-represented nations. btw, there no 'over-represented' nations as there are still a lots of ships to add from every nation. For now, there are only nations that are more represented than others.
  13. I guess Dominique Youx' question was about the event called 'Sixth coalition is kaput', the War of the 6th coalition being a war during 1813-1814. As to NA and the implemented ships, time period is 1690-1820, the oldest ship currently implemented being the Ingermanland built in 1715.
  14. With all due respect : The ship that comes 4th in this initial poll got 15 votes (Venus). The ships that come 10th got 10 votes (Leopard, Vrijheid-class). The ships that come 20-22th (out of 27) got 5 votes. The ship that comes penultimate got 2 votes (Principe de Beira) The first three ships (the 3rd Rates) with more than 110 votes have been voted in. But in the particular circonstances of that poll (craze for 3rd Rates and 'nations'), none of the 24 others have shown to be popular. And their relative ranking does not mean much, given the low number of votes for them. Can't we have a second round of initial poll with the only Light frigates (32-36 guns) and Heavy frigates (50-60 guns) to vote again for the 7 other places nominated to participate in the final poll before this one starts, in order, as you so rightly put it, to 'highlight popular frigates' ? Tell me one more time : 'Yes, we can !' PS : if you could also add some 9-pdr frigates. There is only one in this poll (La Malicieuse)...
  17. Indeed. I'd rather buy ship-class packs (Corvettes, Light Frigates, Heavy Frigates, 1st-Rates...) but, given the winds of nationalism we've lately witnessed during 2017 poll, I guess that national packs might sell better... Moreover, some classes might be preferred by the majority.
  18. So you do say that there are twice as many PvE-er as PvP-ers ? That should have consequences on NA development...
  19. Je ne comprends pas "opportunités cachées". J'ai raté quelque chose ? Comment on va faire sans ?
