  1. well... for now, current number of votes < 1/3 votes during ship poll 2016 (547 vs 1867) (even though waiting won't change the results)
  2. You both are talking about the 24-pdr frigate built in 1799 that carried the Rosetta Stone, right ?
  3. L'Amarante : so lovely !!! I know I'm off-topics but... you know... when it comes to love... Sigh...
  4. La Naïade (The Naiad) French 9-pdr corvette 1779 20 guns Dimensions (pied du Roi) : 119 x 30,6 x 15,6 Armament : 20 x 9-pdr Built by J.-M.-B. Coulomb (at Toulon), captured by the British in 1783 and converted into a 26-gun 6th-Rate, HMS Naiad(e). Seven sister ships (built beween 1779-1781 with the best ship names ever ;-) : La Coquette, La Blonde, La Brune, La Sémillante, La Badine, La Belette, La Poulette Plan made by the British in 1783, before main transformations, kept by the Greenwich NMMuseum Plan analysis : Notice 10 portholes for 10 guns + a front port, empty, to be filled by the nearest gun during chasing, The 3 portholes on the quarterdeck don't belong to the French version of the ship but are part of the British conversion proposal, Hull with a flat bottom and substantial tumblehome as earlier in the 18th century (see La Renommée) Possible figurehead : a pair of Marmaids Sculpture made by the Arsenal de Toulon (where the Corvette was built) in 1779 (same date) from Antoine Gibert's drawings for the 'frigate' (?) La Naïade (186 x 55 x 68 cm) Paris, musée national de la Marine, Inv. 9 OA 17 [39 OA 16] Sources : Boudriot, Historique de la corvette, La Créole 1827, p. 26-27, 30 Boudriot, Neptunia n° 137, 1980 https://threedecks.org/index.php?display_type=show_ship&id=16595 Drawing of the hull : http://i68.servimg.com/u/f68/16/20/79/11/0410.jpg Article about Corvettes by Surcouf : http://forum.game-labs.net/topic/7645-les-corvettes/?tab=comments#comment-144903
  5. You've forgotten, among others, HMS Myrmidon/Amazon (La Panthère).
  6. Indeed. I'd really love to see USS Hornet and USS Wasp in game. On the other hand, in the 16-24 gun ship category, there have already been some US ships implemented in game : Brig and Navy Brig, Prince de Neufchatel, Rattlesnake, Niagara ; mostly 2-masted ships. If that category was to be widened (and I hope so), there might also be some room for 3-masted non-US ships (corvettes), especially Spanish (such as the Descubierta), Dutch (Venus...) and French (La Diligente…) ones.
  7. Fake news It wasn't a candelabra It was a popping champagne cork French champagne That changes everything But I will say no more here
  8. Nope as players have access to all the ships in game, whatever their in-game nationality. No national tree. Misplaced pride. IMHO, ships that 'should' be implemented are those : we have reliable plans of, that are built and armed during NA timeframe, that are interesting in terms of gameplay, line-up gaps, looks... that are the most representative of the domestic production of the period, whatever their nationality.
  9. The 'White flag' thing is plain trolling. Just don't feed the troll. The history of France speaks for itself, whatever a bunch of insignificant trolls might say.
  10. I am doubtful. btw, it'd be nice to have a sum-up of d'Orvilliers' fleet in the form of something like that :
  11. Quick sum-up in English of @Surcouf 's thoughts about the Franco-Spanish naval fleet under the orders of M. Le Comte d'Orvilliers (Sizarga, July 1779) : Spanish have very few 74-gun ships but lots of 70-gun ones, Lots of French ships carry 74 guns. There are also some old outdated French 64-gun ships. There are only 3 three-deckers out of 71 vessels ! These are : La Ville de Paris, La Bretagne and the Santiss. Trinidad No misinterpretation, Surcouf ?
  12. The period from 1793 to November 1799 does not belong to the "Napoleonic era", an English term for : the Consulate (1799-1804) + the First French Empire (1804-1815) 1789-1799 = another part of the French Revolution (you know when the young Republic guillotined Aristocrats and most of the royal family and fought alone against her royalist neighbours )
  13. Right now only 515 members have voted. Last poll, 1867 ones have voted. What if the next 1000 votes were for the Euridice (I'd vote for her me too if so)... or any other Light frigates ? In that cas, HMS Cerberus would feel less alone : btw I love HMS Cerberus. Don't say anything bad about her ! I'd love to see her in game ASAP !!! Dutch have certainly a lot of nice ships !! As other nations...
  14. Some nice interiors on the youtube video.
  15. Of course and discussion among experts is not what I'd ask for. But anyone can discuss about gameplay, number of guns or beauty of a ship. That's the first time that, in a ship poll, (almost) nothing else but nationality matters. I prefer the kind of comments below, randomly selected from the discussion about Player ship selection 2016 and that have nothing to do with expertise : ...to most of what I've read in this thread. Just personal preference
  16. @Surcouf you hid from us ;-) that the Association Hermione-Lafayette that built the replica of the frigate has been contributed to the development of an educational game for PC and tablets (mainly for kids) about the Hermione and her travel to America. I haven't tested it (in French and English) : http://www.hermionefrigate.com
  18. Correct spelling (nowadays) : 'Le Royal Hollandais' Correct spelling (back then) : 'Le Royal Hollandais' or 'Le Royal Hollandois'. btw threedecks only knows of a French/Dutch 'Royal Hollandais', that is a... Wreker-class ship : https://threedecks.org/index.php?display_type=show_ship&id=24675
  19. At last, arguments about ship characteristics, historical armaments and gameplay in NA, not about nations !!!! No 'I want this nation !' or 'No more of that nation, please !' but good reasons to choose a given ship (even though I for one ain't for 3rd-Rates in that poll). Thx @akd.
  20. No way to switch from one to the other at 105° during a fight, huh ?
  21. The 'plain' Rattlesnake will certainly be back after an overhaul (to have her nerfed) and/or when/if others corvettes (small 3-masted ships with say 18-24 guns) are implemented to compete against her.
  22. In the previous poll, there were 1867 votes. For now, there are 434 votes in the current one. In theory, everything can change...
  23. Moreover 3rd-rates are great for old gamers with slow reflexes and tired eyes because those ships are bigger and sail slower than frigates.
