  1. That is why we need a reputation system. I also thing folks miss understood what Admin was saying. I took it as as long as it didn't effect xp than it would be a good system. Like players can't farm a bounty to make xp or cause some one to loose it. At least that was what I got from his one comment. A money set bounty could be a good way to spark more RP and such. The problem is your going to have folks that will cry about i cause they pissed some one off and than have half a dozen bounties on there heads by a bunch of care bears. Well last I checked this was a PvP server wasn't? Cause not every one is able to fight others in the open world. The bounty doesn't have to be some one in your nation. More than likely it's some one else in another nation. Let me make another example other than the trader. Say I catch yo in a trader that you have everything in to make you very first SOL first rate after the patch comes out and these are rare and very few have them yet. I demast you capture your ship and get it back to port with all your goods. Hell I'm level 50 and you even had labor contracts in there so 'bang' I pop out a brand new Santi and thank you in Global chat. This just pisses you off more than loosing every thing on that ship. So you put up a 1 Million dollar bounty on my head. Well since I'm a pirate that means /EVERY ONE/ on the server can hunt me down and try to claim the bounty. Some might be able to and others might not. You know since I tend to roll with my fellow clan mates. Well just happens lucky La Newbie Jose from the Spanish nation is in a battle and gets the lucky kill. Well since he killed me he gets to turn in the bounty and get paid the 1 million you put on my head. Now you get to be happy you got revenge that you might not been able to get in the first place. A hunting party? Really I would love to see some of ya'll actually leave your ports and do that. Would mean you actually have to come out and PvP, which again is good for the game. To many folks hide in ports and don't come out and play one of the aspects of the game. Though lets be honest some times it's hard as hell to know where some one is at and hunt them down. But that would be another aspect of the game and not ever one is into PvP and able to hunt some one down. What if you have a solo trader char that only does crafting. This bounty system would give that char a chance to have others do the hunting. Alliances as a game mechanics are gone, nothing stopping you from having them. BLACK and CN/CCCP of the Danes have have a verbal alliances for almost a year now and it's prob the strongest one in game and we didn't need some silly game mechanic to make it work. Since it was more a clan vs clan agreement to you didn't have to piss every one off in the nation by not fight or fighting one group or another. Though I do think there needs to be some restrictions like can't have a clan mate claim it and it shouldn't be claimed in things like small battles or even port battles. I think the pay out should be OW battles only.aaa
  2. I always joke that if I was to play french I would carry muskets on my ship if some one captures it. Slightly used, only dropped once...
  3. And no we haven't seen any updates on the BP's. I keep crossing my fingers hoping the patch will drop sooner than later.
  4. I thought my player count was number on server....the whole server s my PvP event grounds...lol Though I know one thing that might attract more players is by restricting the deep water one to 4th rates and below. Gives more the average players a chance to get into the fights and not be ganked by a bunch of SOL's.
  5. Currently gold won't mean crap, but after the patch 10 million prob going to be worth a lot. What your looking for is an in game way to punish folks no mater if they are guilty or not and not every one is guilty that I have seen folks accuse others of in game and on the forums. Pluss how do you know certain folks haven't been punished one way or another? We don't know every things the Devs do and well we shouldn't know either. That is none of our business. The case your speaking of the British alt is closed as per the link I put up. Devs dealt with it so move on and stop beating on the dead horse. As for for any other such as harassing I don't have knowledge of that, but if it was so hope you reported and it got straighten out. If they no longer contact ya'll than that means something was done. Either of these have have nothing to do with this post. This is talking about putting bounties on other players so folks can get the rewards. The key use for such is for in game stuff like a Dreaded pirate that keeps killing your clan mates or even lowbies. So you put a bounty on him that any one can collect. This is not suppose to be meant as a means to punish spies and traitors or folks that break the game rules or exploit. Those things should be reported properly. So far he keeps speaking of exploiters and such, some things that have been reported and other things are just assumption (like alts in port battles). Basically I think he wants to be able to put a bounty on suspected spies/traitors in his own nation and than collect on it. Which isn't what the bounty system the OP is speaking of is meant to be used as a punishment for such actions. If the traitor was exploiting we have a system to report. If he's a bad spy that got caught well other than reporting them so they get chat banned is all you can currently do. As there is no means for players to punish folks in there own nations. Mainly I would assume cause it would be abused to much as folks accuse each other of things with little to no proof.
  6. Why would they have to start over? I'm not understanding your reason. The reputation system can be put in place even with chars of of multi levels. The system will have base lines of your Reputation. Folks of certain nations will have higher reputation with there parent nation than they would have with others. Pirate of course will prob start with very low reputation for all other nations. This can be used as a means to be able to use other ports shops too. YOu have a bad reputation with a certain nation you can't do any trade in the shop of it's ports. Cause why would a trader want to trade with a guy that sinks there ships? It's like the old pirate switching national thing. You want to become a pirate you attack a national of your nation (IE take a big reputation hit). BOOM YOUR A PIRATE NOW. Say you don't want to be a pirate any more you go to a nation and start to gain reputation with that nation,by sinking folks they are at war with, including other pirates? Effectively acting as a Privateer for that nation. Get your reputation up high enough than you can join that nation permanently and your pirate status falls off. Though you can never go back to a nation you left, well not easily. You would have to gain a lot of reputation back for what you lost leaving that nation. Have to remember your a pirate the whole time your getting your reputation to join the other nation so /ANYONE/ can attack you so this isn't easy at all. I highlighted in blue exactly the reason of use of a reputation system instead of just deleting and starting over. This gives an in game way to change nations. It won't be a push button and be done, you have to take the time to switch nations or you can delete your char and start over from zero.
  7. SkyHG's bounty was meant for any one that wasn't US to attack and get the kills. I remember that port battle when he put that in global as they left early without a fight I believe leaving every one else hanging. That is exactly what this system of the OP is talking about. You have beef with some one call it out and get some one else to do your dirty work. Rules are still in place and there is no Green on Green allowed. Well unless your pirates. I'm sorry if in my example above the said Trader has a beef and put the bounty out if another Naval officer of that nation attacked the rival trader he would be court-martial and hanged for such action. Why would a bounty change that. He basically just did an act of piracy attacking his own nations. I'm sorry every one can't have every thing. Not to mention exempting Green ON Green just for the Bounty is going to cause even more abuse and exploits of things. This would be the same for the other char you speak of, Brits have a problem with one of there own you put a Bounty out and let other nations hunt him down and get the reward. Still gives you no excuse to do green on green. The only restrictions is that you can't hunt some one of your own nation to collect a bounty. Seems like you want to be able to hunt your own nation to exploit such a system every time you have a grief with a player. Check and balances in rules need to be there so folks don't try to exploit them. Hunting down some one like Charles Hunter for his exploits is not going to make it any difference. Green on Green is still against the rules and it makes you just as bad as what ever he did if not worse. Two wrongs don't make a right. Again that was a re-portable thing that was reported to the Devs and I assumed dealt with by them. Again the Devs have dealt with this and it's been closed. Don't know why you keep bring it up over and over. Oh and the fix is in current test bed. Though haven't checked to see if it was added to one of the last hot-fix that they did for the dupping stuff. We don't all ways see every fix they do for exploits and such, so stop saying nothing has been done. The fix is now that if a player leaves a battle no more agro can be gained after they left. I believe this part of the new battle reward stuff coming in the next patch. The other thing is this is a system for folks that have been sunk multi time by a player and can put a bounty out for them. Going back to that trader of the one nation. Say one pirate/privateer of another nation keeps sinking him. He can put that bounty out and than folks of his own nation can claim it, but unless they are pirates why would say a Brit Privateer is the one he put a bounty on, would other Brits attack there own national and collect the reward? That would effectively make them a pirate not a British National.
  8. The only thing the restricted ships should be of a mid level and not key to things like RvR/Port Battles. We don't have enough ships to go around to restrict to certain nations, but there could be some ships. I'll use the Pirate Frigate as an example that are more nation specific. Whey would a Naval officer be runing around in a Pirate refited ship? Maybe if he was a privateer I can see keeping the capture ship, but any naval officers would send capture ships back to be refitted to nations standards and than the ship would be renamed and put back into the Naval service. I would say make it something like a Rank 5 only ship restrictions so that you can make mid level ships for each nations that only that nation can get in there Admiralty shop. I actually thought they might of been doing something like this when I saw the Pirate Frigate in the Pirate Den Shop and than I noticed Navy Agamemnon and though it might be a National only thing until I noticed it was just a ship note, not the BP. Pirates have a lot of restrictions on them all ready so really is it bad that they have one ship that no other nation can craft to make up for the fact they can't have an alliance, join others port battles and have others join their port battles or OW battles? The mark system can slow it dow, maybe make all SOL require marks along with the crafting materials so they are even more costly. The meta is all ways to bring the best, but until every one gets settles in and production up and going most folks won't be able to have the best top tier ships in these battles. A better break down on tier of ship in battles woould be nice too. Some ports you can only have 5th rates and below. Others you can only have 2nd rates and below. This will get folks to use more than just the meta of ships most use at port battles.
  9. Why would you need to have friendly fire turned off? I would assume if there is a bounty on some one head it's not some one of your nation that you expect to claim it. It would be some one from another nation. The only time you would see some one from one nation claiming a bounty would be say you put a Bounty on me. Another pirate kills me and they receive the bounty. Since pirates are the only ones allowed to attack each other. Even though it's not unheard of to think that some pirates might put bounties on other pirates. Your going to rarely see any nationals put bounties on other nationals and expect any one of that Bounties nation to turn on themselves. Though it wouldn't be unheard of to make under the table deals to have other folks from other nations to claim said bounty on a fellow national. Think of it like this. I'm a Trader from Nation A and I have a fellow Trader that keeps cutting in my business in my own nation. I put a bounty out for him and folks from other nations will hunt him down to claim the bounty. This allowing me to disrupt his shipping business without being directly involved against my own national member.
  10. Yep I did the same break down pretty much on that thread.... Though as per wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_oak The name live oak comes from the fact that evergreen oaks remain green and "live" throughout winter, when other oaks are dormant and leafless. The name is used mainly in North America, where evergreen oaks are widespread in warmer areas along the Atlantic coast from southeast Virginia to Florida, west along the Gulf Coast to Louisiana and Mexico, and across the southwest to California and southwest Oregon. I would say put in at least one in Florida Occidental (lineship) regional speed bonus or Apalache (shallow) no regional bonus Nuevo Santandor (4th rate) Regional Strong Rig Bonus. That is three more ports to think of adding it for a total of 5. This will give more reason for folks to fight over the Gulf of Mexico. Eve if you just add two (I would say Forida Occidental and Nuevo Santandor that would be two more than we have more and they would be more spread out. That will give you 4-5 areas. With 8 nations than that means you have only 4 nations in control so some one will be fighting over one or two of them most the time or just trading with another nation to get it.
  11. @admin I keep hearing folks say no smuggler flags can we get this confirmed cause I remembering when the PvE zone was talked about there was a mention that you could still attack folks with the smuggler flag on but it would create a Pirate like FFA fight. To many folks think it's gone since there was a mention of it's removal too. While I agree that LO is very important for the port battles, but it doesn't mean it's the only builds you bring. Hell for any one that comes in a board fit build you don't want a slow LO tank to get to ships and board them fast. All my boarder builds for PB and such are made out of Mahogany. Than again I'm a pirate and we don't sit in stupid Lines and duck it out broad side to broad side either. Yah we might get you into a close brawl and do that, but it's not as a line. So LO isn't the only thing needed for port battles. Though I do agree we need 2-3 more LO ports and I have mention some great picks for new region locations they can put it at. I think two more spread out in the Gulf Of Mexico will do two things. It will give half the nations a chance to own a LO port themselves (4 of 8) and to fight over them so that not one nation prob has control over all the live oak. Than it will so give folks a reason to fight over the Gulf Of Mexico.
  12. That is why I think it should be tied to a reputation system and not actual player xp.
  13. I'm not a big fan of causing some one to loose xp by being sunk by others. Though if we had a proper reputation system (HINT HINT HINT) than maybe we can have folks loose reputation if they are sunk. There is a normal level, but if you get your reputation up to a certain level folks can put bounties on you for that nation and if you are sunk you loose reputation. Let me make an example: I'm a pirate and I am famous for killing US players and traders until my Reputation with that nation gets to a level that allowes Bounties to be put on me. This way it doesn't even have to be player set, it can be part of the game system. A bounty is put on my head after I have sunk so many ships that now if some one sinks me they get a large credit boost and reputation boost for there own nation and I loose my reputation with that nation as being a famous pirate. I get sunk enough my fame drops to a level that I'm no longer some feared pirate in there eyes. Reputation system can be linked to a reward shop like the Admiralty shop that might give special paints and flags and such things like that. Though a Player VS Player bounty can be added to this same system (think of the reputation system kinda like a leader board, but it's your relation to other nations and your own). Though since it's Players making the bounty the rewards can be higher with maybe less of a reputation hit or gain. Since the rewards is not a base number the game stets for a bounty but is what a players has set. Now to make this more fun if I have a Bounty placed on my by said US players...I'll use Admin as that player. If I in turn sink him after the bounty has been issued I get the bounty dropped, but my reputation goes up even more and his goes down and the bounty is removed from me. I don't gain the reward other than as part of the reputation system.
  14. I can see doing this, but even than we had folks from the other server popping in making comments about out suff thinking we where talking about PvP1. There is a reason we got the PvP2 Port Battle and National stuff post updated and than pinned so it's easy to find and not buried deep in the other crap. I think one section is fine, but we can have some pinned post like port battle results and stuff for that info so it's not lost, but I kinda see the reason to split it. Most other games i been on had there server info's split by server instead of every one posting the same section so I voted yes lets split it. 9 Hell lets do it properly. Even though the devs are talking about taking away National News I think it should be broke down into three sub sections. PvP Global PvP EU PvE And than you can post what ever you want as in National news stuff and Clan inside those groups.
  15. I use to travel alot for work and I would play on games other servers. Like WoT I had a SEA and EU account for when I was working in Africa/Spain/Ireland I would use the EU server. While I was in AU, India, Singapore I used the SEA server. That and it helps keep from destroying your stats by playing on very bad pings. All the while my main play was on the US server. I plan to have chars on all three servers (not counting the testbed) even though I plan to play only the global. Cause you never know what is going on and where your going to be.
  16. whispers, "Pirates are a nation too." I know we butt heads on topics but thanks for not forgetting Pirates are a Nation too, bastards of a nation, but still one. I believe the smuggler flag is going to return, but it's going to be in it's old form where any one can attack you cause devs mention something about it in the PvE zone stuff that it's the only way you can get attack in the PvE zone area is with the smuggler flag on and it creates a pirate FFA style battle. I really think ya'll are not giving the PvE(not the PvE server guys)/care-bears/traders players that play on the PvP servers and aren't all into the PvP and RvR stuff enough credit. They make up the majority of the player base after all and while they can still fill the spots of the main PvP/RvR players they are apart of the game too. They are the back bone of the crafting and econ system. You give them a means to make money, they will. I will bet you folks will craft rare goods, smuggle them to ports and sale them. You will get folks that will be putting up buy orders in free towns to get filled. Cause remember all you have to do is get it to a free town and than you can ship those goods any where. Now one thing that would really really really hep this if the trader missions was actually based off buy contracts in local ports in that region or area of the map and not just some random missions. This will help stimulate the economy if I know say you have a buy contract in a port close by for 500 silver. I'm over here with a silver mine and I got 5000 I'm not doing crap with. So I haul 500 over to that freetown and drop it off and fill your contract. I get a little crafting and rank xp from the trip and you get your contract filled.
  17. I mentioned something like this by taking Pirates/Privateers (cause let admit the none outlaws are basically Privateers without jobs) if they had a true raid system the raids can cause a neutral like agro that can cause a region/port to go neutral. Allowing any nation to snatch it up. Maybe if a pirates raid was successful it puts 25% agro on that region for all nations that don't own it. Giving them a jumping point to start a flip cause that region would be in sort of unlawful/chaos after a raid. Again this would all would really need a reputation system. Bring back the means to go pirate in game. Allow pirates to take a letter for a nation to become privateers. Once they get high enough reputation they can join that actual nation. Pirates/Privateers don't own any regions per say. They get Kidds, Mort, Marsh Harbor areas as perm pirate regions. Sorry nations should not be using Pirate refit and this should be something specially to only them. Than allow them to use free towns as there home ports so they can spread out. There could be pirate haven ports but lets jsut make it simple and have them work out of free towns. Freetown can only have ships of 4th rates or below in them too. So no more staging your SOL"s in a free port folks. The only way for them to get a port is with a raid. Make the raids a 12 vs 12 man team and that while a port is raided they can use that port for three days and than it goes back to the owner. While in raid status all production stops in that port. A team/clan can only have one raided port at a time though this can prob be bump up to 2 or something. The point is to keep from having a zerg of raids all over the map. While a port is raided that region has a base agro of 25% start for all nations against it. Thus making a raided region more easy to flip. While a pirate is working for a nation as a privateer they can use those ports of that nation for only trade. They can not make out post or build in a nations region. While a privateer there is still no restrictions as to who can attack you or not. So if there is an alliance system it doesn't matter if your working for Spain and they have an alliance with US, the US player can still attack you. So basically all it does is allow you to join and filly there battles and only for the nation you have the contract for. Cause we need a reputation system the more you help one nation the more chance you get to a status you can perm become apart of that nation. This will allow you to switch nations in game, though slowly, but you can do it in game instead of some token or deleting your char and making a new one. Now for the raids, they will be like old flag system where you can buy a flag/token and it announces you are doing a raid over the game. You have 2 hours to do the raid and you can only have 12 man teams (full group). Tokens can only be bought in your ports owned. This is why I mention some other ports that would be pirate havens instead of just freeports. maybe some key freeports will have dual status. The raid has to start pretty much from that port and than head to the port your raiding. When you plant the flag/token a battle starts. This is pretty much like a mini port battle. Though drop the two out side circle and only have one circle to fight over. The first to get to 500 points by controling the circle or sinking ships wins the raid. This is an all out 12 vs 12 fight. Raided ports can have more restrictions than just the Lineship, 4th Rates, Lightships. Maybe have some ports resticted 5th rates in below. Maybe others you can only bring 3rd rates and below. This will give a more mixture of fleets than the norm of every one bringing one type of ship. Maybe some ports will have other goals than the capture the one circle. Could drop the A circle on some ports and just have B/C and you have to capture one or the other. Remember the takers all ways win if no points are gained and you have to control one more circle than the other side to get points other than by sinking ships. Raids should not be easy and I like this second options cause most ports A is defended very heavily by forts and towers. Keep the regional port battles with the 46 hour window for the big fights, but raids can be one way to flip a port (if you allow both nationals and pirates to raid a port), but no matter who does the raid the port gets 25% agro on the whole region once it's down if it's successful. If a prot is defended it gets the same three day cool down and no one can raid that port until the cool down is off. Though I would be more key to have this a Pirate/Privateeer only function since as above they can't do conquest of there own. It will also get some nations to contract out to some pirate clans to run raids on a nation they are at war with.
  18. Try it in a gunboat in a big ship battle. You never notice just how big all them ships are when your just trying to beam down on them with that forward cannon and not to get crushed. I know some one that tried it with me and got motion sickness....lol
  19. Yah the split screen thing made me loose a whole corp that was left over on the other screen that could of pinched the other team between my forces. It's happen to me more than one fight. That and I hate it when it splits your corps up, I use to break divisions down into like one for arty, one for infantry and another for Cav/Skirms, but I found they can split so you have arty by it self in one place and the others on the split map. Lost a good amount of arty that way one fight. Just stopped the match and rolled back to the save before the fight and had to reorganized my units differently.
  20. I understand the devs reason, to balance certain ships. If some ships had them it would prob make them way OP. I kinda like the mix of the ships and load outs cause it makes folks bring diffrent ships to the table. If every ship had fore cannons we would see the same ships over and over even more than we all ready do.
  21. Every thing will be wiped... Clans are tied to the clan creator so if every thing gets wiped than yes they will be gone and new clans will have to be created. True specially with a well organized clan but I don't think to the level some of us have them at now cause of old broken systems that where in the past. I started to just sale stuff to free up dock space and so it won't look so bad the night before the wipe. Maybe it will help some guys do there last minute crafting cause they can find the mats I'm dropping for cheap in the ports shops.
  22. Big ships next to land can suck. We had a big brawl like that a while back and some one got lit on fire and it didn't turn out very well for any one.... On thing that drives me nuts when I watch other folks videos and I'm not even the greatest at this game, but do you guys know what F5 does right along with F1-4? I hardly ever see these guys turn off there off side decks they aren't using. He would have faster reload, better sail response and faster board preparation and other things if he didn't have all his guns maned at all times. I think one of the biggest complaints on boarding from folks is cause they have no clue about how to do it and get the best reponce from each action and counter action.
  23. I don't think it's going any where. I think in it's current form it's going to be gone. I noticed back in the PvE merge stuff they mention the only way to be attack in this zone is by having the Smuggler flag on. I haven't tested it on testbed but I wonder if they reverted it back to the old smuggler flag days. Cause they said if your attacked with it on it creates the same FFA battle as Pirate vs Pirate does. So I get a feeling it's going to be around just not in it's current form as a free way for traders to enter into any ports. Doesn't matter to me as I never take it off, you know being a pirate and all.
  24. I don't think they are stopping any one from deleting every thing and starting all over. This is just an option for folks that don't want to loose all there stuff.
  25. The problem is that folks won't come out and PvP if they can keep it to PvE and keep you raising it if it's to slow. The blockaid thing makes them come out and stop you. I mean really with war supplies they can just sit in port and keep lowering it down to 50 until you get bored and stop. Oh and mega fleets will give you up to 40%...that is the fleet of 25 SOL. We do it all the time after grinding it up to 50%. We been wanting to do one from the start to see exactly how many points they give you for hostility. We have brought up the blockaid thing many times. What I would love is a 12 man raid system. Like the old flags. That is a full group and you attack a port (not region and it has a battle with one circle (not three) the one who controls that circle wins. It is auto 25% agro. Each port can only be raided once a day. If you have more than one raid than you can flip the port and get the current port battle system for that region in 46 hours. To stop a raid only 12 guys need to get in and fight. RvR should never been done in the first place by having to do most of it through PvE. 12 man teams allows small nations to actually attack some one as they can do 4 raids in one day to flip a port. I also don't think 1 hour should flip a port blockaiding. Like the mine for war supplies and PvE missions it should only be a small part of the agro to flip a region. If ya'll remember on POTBS you can only turn in so many supplies in a certain time period so you can just instantly flip a port. It only counts for a small portion of the numbers needed to get a port battle. PvP should always be the fastest way to get agro. We have flipped many a ports just from doing this and just doing agro to get them to come out and PvP us. Than next thing we know an hour later we have a port battle cause we sunked a crap load of players trying to stop us.
