  1. Yes, you can go crazy with crew but modifiers should be very, very slight. Then there's the loss dudes who wants to kill your crew after you've spent time grinding them up, I dunno, not like we need anything more to make people run from a fight. Anyhoo, if we get the crew I want one of those zombies on my ships.
  2. Use this as an excuse to get new shiny stuff!
  3. This is mostly a tech and time limitation. Current hardware would have trouble dealing with hundreds of animated men.
  4. Noperino! I never misunderstand anything! It must be your fault. (/ω\)
  5. I blame Kaos, it was him that said it I'm not drunk every day, so I haven't tried it myself yet.
  6. The other day I was told we can right click and cancel.
  7. You must get tired of listening to my speedwhining. Early this summer Garbad posted some thoughts on speeds I think it is worth it to repeat. I'm just a giant blindzone when it comes to EVE and PotBS, I never played them, maybe you will listen to someone with EVE knowledge? Since this is about making the strongest frigate one of the fastest, it is relevant though it is aimed at speedmods in general coupled with empowering of super rich powergrinders. Garbad (Hope you don't mind, dude): Keep in mind Garbad knew nothing about the ganking problem we have/are (see what I did there?). It is proven common sense applicable to all games that have moving pixels that can shoot.
  8. I'm not trying to trick you. I really want speeds to be known. I've been doing flightsims since the nineties and more recently WoT. Balance pivots on speeds in those games, it is risky to pretend it doesn't in Naval Action.
  9. My trinc is only fir and built in golden speed, I have room for it but right now no other speedmods. I heartily agree that SOLs shouldn't be able to catch the frigates. Speedmods are such a headache. Treated as end of the line = The painful, unfair and pointless eco balancing ploy, eh? How can a live oak connie going 13-14 knots not be the ultimate generalist? (If you say "eco", I'll spank you!) edit: I've avoided santi as much as I can. Had one go with it in Sea Trials and left it alone, so far I haven't been forced to santi. Maybe I'm ignorant? Put a number to "very fast santi", please?
  10. +1++++++11!!!!11111!!!omg!!111!leplus+1 Let speeds be written in stone. Play with heel, turning, acceleration, aimtime, accuracy, gun angles, yards, sails, reload, durability, whatever. But leave speed alone.
  11. I see, you mainly think about how to make it more competitive fighting the big ones? One step towards a 3rd rate/Pavel is two steps ahead of frig/trinco. If a live oak connie goes (calculated) at 11.4 knots, live oak frig (calculated) at 11.8 with nades and 11.3 with longs. Isn't the connie fast enough relative to the smaller ones? I have a fir trinco with built in golden speed, if I run that with all nades it tops out at 13.7 knots. You can knock off about half a knot for longs and roughly 5% for live oak. That ends up (calculated) at 12.6 knots max for the live longs trinco. How fast should a live oak connie go? I've heard you and others say: "We'll fix it with murderous eco balancing", you say that knowing that Tommy and Ellis et al are poised to just brute force their way through that barrier. Everyone accepts brutal eco with end of the line stuff like a santi. But a santi is stat balanced with horrible speed and is not a generalist OW ship. In the current lineup, is it worth the risk to make the connie such an outlier? With razee and other monsters potentially lurking on the distant horizon, maybe the connie could be live oak, go 14 knots and be considered weak?
  12. You say that live oak connie sucks, it should be faster (even stronger?) You are specific with accompanying gun nerf and I'd like you to be more specific with at what speed you would be happy with it. When talking about a live oak Connie, speed is a far more important balance parameter than the top deck guns, I presume.
  13. Ok, remind me... What are your suggested speeds for frigate, trinco and the brave, new connie?
  14. Slightly relevant note: After the patch what you say about connie being weak may be more true than before. I haven't checked thoroughly enough yet, but Eric Shun found my fir connie very squishy. My longs could not keep up with his, prolly, carrofrig. This is a change, I think, I've sailed a lot of fir ships the last few weeks and I suspect fir has been made weaker.
  15. You already know that you would go through the extra trouble to get it, Tommy and Ellis would help. You would find a way, the crafters in Willemstad would find a way, the Russian Danes, the French and so on. I'm against specific eco balancing such as this. It's just a pain. You would have the best fast ship, by an excessive margin, be made virtually unattainable for normal players. I want normal players to enjoy this game and stay, I don't want them to rage quit because of an unbalanced ship they can't have but the Rakers and TDA are using against them with total impunity. That is a very bad idea. Maybe you have seen stuff like that work in EVE? Something everyone wants but noone can have. I just know what I've seen so I have to get back to WoT balancing. The historical stats of an IS-7 are such that it would have been tier 11 or 12. To bring it down to tier 10 levels they absolutely murdered mobility, acceleration and destroyed accuracy and reload. You're suggesting keeping the connie at impossible balance values and just make it available to an exclusive group of players. I can not see wisdom in this. Eco balancing will not work, or, to make it work you'd have to go all korean style grinder and just piss off most of your players. Doran has touched on this recently, and months ago an EVE player called Garbad made a rather large post that included the reasoning behind why giving the super rich powergrinders special toys the plebs can not get is a very disruptive and bad idea <draws breath>. Most of the time you are the voice of reason, Prater. But on the issue of the historical super connie you, and your buddies, are ready to close your eyes and invite the snake into the garden. Forgive me for throwing rocks into your dream machine, it kinda sucks to rain on this particular parade, but I have to try to stop you from selling your soul to the devil. I will close this sermon with scripture: Luke 11:11: "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a historical connie, will give him an unbalanced abomination that will ruin the game instead?" Now go home and sin no more.
  16. Thanks, that so kin.... Wait a minute! My mother warned me that smart people would try to do this to me. It's that... reverse physiology, right? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice and I'll fite u irl! Pfft, I can go in a live oak one too for the connie demo. Unless this is about proving that frigs can run away from live oak connies? Live oak connies are kinda useless, we agree on that point. I feel your history pain on slow-ass live oak connies, I just don't care - I'm pragmatic about game balance.
  17. Sigh... Disinformation Just a hipshot feeling you have? You said that, even though you know it's not true. Thank you for your contribution to this balancing discussion. edit: Steel was faster on the trigger
  18. Please, let us not pretend that a frig or belle can beat a connie. Opinions are one thing, taste another but a Constitution is way stronger than those two smaller ones. Don't spread disinformation. I'm willing to show anyone by demonstration how effortlessly a connie can subdue a frig. I can meet up with any denier here in my "weak" fir connie for a demo fight. You can have the wind, any woodtype, carronades or any guns and upgrades you like. I can agree not to board you and not run (yes, a connie can even run from any ship in the game unless crazy speedmod disparity). Do you guys believe that eco balancing measures actually will work, or do you just say it in order to have your super OP connie? How many months after release will pass before the eco balancing is bypassed by grinding and the ship simply sits there, in it's full on OP glory, without a negative balancing factor keeping it in check? Don't get me wrong, I have a chubby for your speedy live oak connie, We would sail the fuck out of such a ship. Do you want us to have that ship?
  19. I'm advocating premiums. The devs are somewhat hesitant on the matter, but I want there to be premiums. I want to grind, eco and craft as little and as fast as possible to get to the endgame content and play. Premiums might help me achieve that and I'll support the game in return. I know some of you like the grind in itself, that's fine.
  20. What are the chances that precious crews would make people run even more than they do today?
  21. hehe Rhett-vee-sahn The Swedes have this great way of making the "R" sound. Like the Spanish (and Norwegians... hey!) they roll the sound off at the tip of their tongue just behind their top front teeth. Only slower, slurrier and more deliberate that Spanish (and Norwegian). It truly is something. Listen to Joakim sing "regnen" (the rains) at 0:38: Fun fact: (some) Young people in Germany take Swedish in University with the main motivation of being able to read Kent lyrics in the original language. I have it on good authority from people in academia.
  22. "Rättvisan" Best... name... ever! (Justice. But it sounds so cool in Swedish. When I read it, I read it with Jokke's voice and manner.)
  23. They might. But when they don't need the error reporting coords in the client we may have other ways of making fixes. I'll manage in any case, but can't expect to hit that accurately without F11.
  24. LOL Recently made an afk trip from Jérémie, Haiti to Oranjestad. Sailed SE for a while, made a F11 fix, consulted Siegfried's map and adjusted course to ram Oranje island. This is where I was when I got back to the 'puter:
