Right,

I'm done now.

After 7-8 patches that have destroyed my fun in this game in its current state I'm going to follow many players that already did the same: Play something else.

This "testing" has produced at this point a game I no longer enjoy.

Let me sum up what I no longer like or now dislike:

1 Ganking.

There used to be a BR rating limit. This is now gone resulting in many ships ganging up on 1 little ship. Fun? No. Fair? No. Incentive for players to stay? Not at this stage.

Bring this back.

2 Zergzergzerg.

Quantity over quality. Ask the huns -I mean- the Swedes. It's bad enough they invade the Dutch beaches to finish their Atlantikwall every year.

But you see this everywhere. even in balanced port battles it's quantity over quality, especially with the towers being made out of reinforced concrete at the moment.

3 Community.

Much toxicity, many annoying players that are real keyboard warroirs. Great fun. Not.

4 Engagement ranges.

Still too short. It used to be fun pre-model 5.0. Now it's just too short. No skill, just point and click.

5 1st Rates are redundant.

Too few ports that support them. It used to be a lot better. Not doing 1st rates in port battles for a majority = rewarding zerg.

And on a personal note: D-N rocks, the rest are craven beef-witted foot-lickers!

And no'you can't have my stuff. I'm just doing some crafting and feeling sad about the state of the game  :(

According to Steam I've spent 3 times as many hours as that in game  :o

Anyway, you've tested the game a lot, it's okay to take a break and wait for something closer to the final product. I only hope when you come back, you come back to our clan again.

Just keep in mind, it is a game in alpha and our purpose with playing it at this stage is to test it, so that it goes through some changes that you do not like is only natural. I don't like all of the changes either, but the only thing that really makes this game harder to enjoy is the low number of players in my nation-which has persisted through all of this alpha and is being amplified by players tiring and leaving for the past few months-and that the conquest system has not been improved at all (while other changes have made numbers more important), which I believe is a major reason for the player loss.

1. There still are BR limits of a sort. A basic cutter couldn't tag my Ingermanland into battle the other day. I see your point, but the BR limit system had its problems as well. In the meantime it has been scaled back.

2. "Zerging" is a valid, and even necessary tactic with the current mechanics. Especially when with equal numbers we were better every time. Danes shouldn't be angry with the Swedes about this, but it does highlight-for the umpteenth time-issues with the conquest system. And yes, the only way to effectively deal with towers is by boarding.

4. The range might be slightly too short now, but I really like the idea behind the new damage system, and I cannot express that often enough.

Yes game in the moentary state is not fully enjoyable, but thats why we are here, We are here to test and give our opinions. I like that you explained your reasons politly, not everyone can do this. Thank you

so now to your points

I agree to nr1, yes sadly we need some mechanic to prevent such ganking, but not for me, for the new sailors that are buying this game, since people can gank on high traffic routes without getting reganked cause they can hide in aft battelscrren or in the battel itself.

to nr 2 a solution would be to enable a kind of customansation for higher graded ships, so people would buy more of them and use them too, iam currently sailing around with a pavel to Bait some pvp people, just to send them to davy jones locker, but i also love the ingermanland, and its better suited for this task.

nr 3 , well thats not the fault of the developener, its the fault of people that arent able to respect each other, keep in mind you arent speaking with AIs, there are living people behind each Nickname, no one has the righ to hurt anybodies feeling.

to nr 4 i think actuel otherwise, since amor matters now and the angle of attack too, a 1v1 is now far more intresting because its about keeping the right distance, knowing each others ship, knowing their arment and at what angle and distance they can penetrate you. But most people still go forthe mast anyways.

nr 5, thats what the dev were working for, not to make 1st rates redudant, just to lower the amount of them, they are still fine ships and can support infront of a habour, or baiting enemies.we just need to find a new way using them without getting to much of them on the seas.

also the game is atm in a phase to prepare for more content, the lates patches were made to make the next contant and the gameplay working better together, like the Forts landmass and so on.

i know people heard it 9001 times by now, but

THIS GAME IS A WORK IN PROGRESS

so please keep patience

1. Ganking is realistic, ganking is fine. If I get myself into a position where I can get ganked - I should get ganked

2. Quality is not quality if Quality gets himself into the position where Quantity can beat him

3. Toxicity, yes but all we can do is live with it. There will always been mouthy immature trolls.

4. Ranges. Curses - I thought it was all my fantastic shooting skills! (and the gold Pellews etc.)

5. Redundant 1st rates. Yes, but personally I've always had more fun in frigates. Big, expensive target that steers like a cow? Can't see the attraction myself

1. if you get ganked, shit happens. nobody cares.

2. so you got 'zerged' by the smallest faction? maybe you and d-n just suck too much after the patch that leveled the playingfield.

3. this pretty much describes you. you're one of the most toxic players on the forums. you won't be missed.

4. got fixed. l2p.

5. you're still salty that you can't zerg sweden with you first rates? i guess that is when you call it 'skill' when you field 25 1st vs 25 connies... lol.

just do us all a favor and don't come 'beack'. thx.

Thank your for the example for what I mean community wise.

Agree on pretty much all points, gonna slow down myself while awaiting changes, putting serious effort into such an unfinished game seems quite silly.

Though I resent the remark about the Swedes being the zergers :P As a continually small nation we expected the patch to screw us over in that regard, so being able to do it to others was kinda funny and surprising - and naturally we're paying the price for it as we speak, so it's a double-edged sword. ^^

It was indeed more organized and interesting prior to the patch, I just wish that our solid PvP crew hadn't already quit the game before the most recent war started so that we could've had some good 1st rate PBs. See you later o7

190 on last night at US 9 CST or 7 PST on PVP1 & 125 on PVP2.   The clan I belonged to, mostly US players (60+) who switched to PVP1 two months ago to find some population are pretty much all gone now.    Recent patches certainly added some good stuff and killed some already good content as well.  All in all it hasn't gotten better, And I'm enjoying considerably less.   So,  I'm winding down here too, I guess.  I'll check back in later, if I can pull myself away from whatever I am playing next, when it gets a bit more interesting.

I'm not quitting all the way, so from time to time you may see me...

And yes, I miss the great 1st rate tactical manouvering and the exitement of what side is best at teamplay.

The old PB with the previous damage model was sooooo much fun :)

I don't mean zerg as a mean thing, it's just that the last couple of patches and merger were quite a bit in Sveriges favour. Especially with the smuggler mechanic the need for ports is much less.

No resources? Creep into an enemy port, make a contract and extract late with escort. Cheap resources can be had that way ;)

By the time the smuggler mechanic was implemented we didn´t need it at all, it was the french who were in need of it. ;)

And why do you think that fighting in a 1st rate is the only time when tactical maneuvering and best teamplay count? Or did I get that statement wrong?

I have stopped playing a few patches back - aside from keeping my craft hours ticking over and lvling up craft xp. Just seems silly with all the U-turns in combat mechanics.

Srsly, devs need to sort out war and peace mechanics like we all voted for! Not changing combat mechanics - it's annoying!
