Highlighted the keyword here, sometimes, yes i agree, not at each encounter when it becomes an even fight and not a 300% guaranteed win like some will like them pvp matches to be only, and hiding as soon ad the odds become 50-50 or even more for them side. Adding a cooldown timer on the number of times you are able to logout in the battle screen per day will allow players to leave when they need it for real life stuff, cooldown needs to be long so the legitimate leavings are fair but those leaving only to avoid a fight when it becomes not a guaranteed win could not abuse this, they could use it once and hide for 1h30 , then leave to enter the OW and the next time if caught they could not stay and hide and will be automatically pushed in the OW after 15-20 ( the time to still take a pause ) , one logout or " hidding" allowed each 5-6 hours in battle screen result will be enough to allow legitimate use of this and prevent the constant abuses of players wanting to engage in fights only if they have a guaranteed win while avoiding with this broken mechanic any fights that are not guaranteed as 100% to be a win for them, even when there is odds to just loose a couple of ship in them attacking fleets vs a still outnumbered enemy that can fight and will only be able to at best focus on one or two ships and take them down before being themselves eliminated ...

  3. We got notification for patch in game , servers will be down in around 30mn and it will last 120mn

Because it's often the same when you meet and intercept those guys on them way while in a small patrol fleet with just a few guys wandering on enemies most commonly used paths to join your own capital , they escape and hide when there is even fights profiling, many come with boarding setups and don't want to risk a fight while having less crew assigned to guns with those setups, what most want is just peck around the easy fights they are 100% guaranteed to win around the Capitals and they will avoid anything else, even when it starts to be even but still in them favor with a slight advantage for them , they don't want even fights, they want guaranteed easy wins and want to get the security to escape and hide if they don't have this 100% guarantee ... Being able to avoid any fights at will is an exploit, call is psychiatric disorder or whatever it you want, it's still an exploit that needs to be fixed or at least limited with a cooldown like explained.

And that's what will happen, pvp will move away and be on different areas of the the map automatically, players base will be spread out in different areas for pvp instead of having many attackers/ defenders around capitals only, but apparently what many want is just jump on easy targets, they never want to have even fights with enemies prepared and coming to fight like it will happen when all those players going to other Nations capitals will meet together somewhere more or less mid way from the capitals the attack on daily basis and will be more even fights there instead of 7 guys jumping one isolated ships near a captial. They just want to have them easy uneven fights, be able to pick targets they are sure to win against, like going to the supermarket and use exploits to escape and hide the rest of the times if fight become even or in them defavor while in the enemies most populated waters where it should be risky to go for pvp to start with. Those guys don't want pvp, they want easy ganking like 7 trincs attacking a single frigate and call it pvp but when those same 7 trincs attacking in the enemies Capitals will get 7 trincs chasing them they will call it revenge fleet and flee from an even fight like it is almost always the case when it's just even fights, and of course if you go hunt 5 mn away from a capital you expect to get some risks and be ready to see a fleet similar to yours in size or way superior in numbers rise and start to go for you, putting the hunter into the hunted, it's part of what is implied when going there but apparently guys just want the free wild card to avoid any fireback using exploits to hide while being able to hunt in only uneven fights in them favor picking what they want like at the supermarket ... what an hypocrisy ...

How i read this one : " we want to continue pick easy targets near enemies capitals and be able to use exploits to hide magically if it becomes too risky and profit of a perfect impunity while hunting in enemies most frequented waters " It won't, it will make heavy active pvp active zones different from the usual spots where they are located now, people won't go hunt alone or in tiny group 5 minutes away to enemies capitals to find players trying to level up in missions and jump them quickly to then hide from any reprisal, pvp will be more risky there as it should be if you decide to go hunt in enemies most populated waters ... PVP hot zones will move a bit away from those most populated waters or people still going there will move in more massive and organized groups and it won't hurt pvp at all, what hurts pvp and the game is players able to hunt 5mn away from a capital in total impurity using exploits to hide when it please them, this is making the game sick and many leave bored to see those exploits used in the vast majority of the pvp encounters ...

Yeah i won't post more about this, Just getting really bored of this being used each day multiples time in almost all pvp encounters and nothing done patch after patch to fix those main issues that are killing the pvp game interest for myself and many others ... but won't say more about this yeah, even if the perk about 500m is directly linked to the def tag abuse and won't solve anything there due to spawn distances being far superior to make it possible to gain speed and get in 500m range in 2mn or so...
  8. Speaking of focusing on combat yeah i'd like combats to happen instead of spending hours waiting for exploiters of broken and unfixed mechanics ... I had expected that by now the things totally killing the pvp in what is supposed to be primary a pvp game had been dealt with and fixed since a while with a high priority level addressed on those instead of seeing what looks more like exploits getting used 95% of the times during pvp encounters ... Defensive tag and hide in battle screen result ... this is something i am not understanding why it had not been deal with yet when some very simple solutions exist : - Defensive tag : the one pressing attack button gets locked 10 minutes in battle with no way to escape no matter if he gets hit or not, chaser can spend 8mn or so focusing on his sailing to regain the speed and distances advantage he had in OW then start to shoot and keep him tagged after 8-9 minutes of sailing. - Battle screen hiding : push all players at OW seas after 15mn max, offer the possibility to logout from this end result screen with a cooldown of 6 hours to prevent abuses of it. After a battle player can decide to logout from the end battle screen but can do this only once each 6 hours, the cooldown needs to be long so it doesn't get abused, if the players does not logout he have 15 minutes to take a little thing to eat or drink or go to the toilets and make the Colossus cry, after 15mn he is automatically pushed into the OW... This will stop make all of us loose our time chasing slower ships than ours to see them def tag and spawn out of range of our guns then hide for 45 minutes in battle result screen, to then come out after this long 45 mn or more wait and repeat the same exact thing and hide again 45mn or simply logout there ... We will wait 15mn after the battle, if player(s) get out you have a second chance, if after 15mn they are not out you know they logged off and can come back after, being 30mn or 1h or more but this time they won't be able to logout again before many hours if they get pushed into a battle ... Those two problems are killing the pvp in this game, you spend more time waiting for those broken mechanics abusers than anything else, they can come to heavy populated areas pick a few isolated players and then use those exploits to hide as soon as chased and they do it day after days ... We came to a point where many just don't give a damn anymore about OW pvp as they know they will be granted of a def tag and hiding exploit 95+% of the times they start to chase a ship, i just can't understand why those two so crucial elements allowing players to escape and hide easily while all odds are against them are still tolerated and not dealt with when the solutions can be so simple as the ones proposed here ... Why so broken things don't get any attempt to fix them patch after patches while they kill this game each day a bit more ?? It's nice to see other things added and new combat mechanics etc etc, but before adding those the essential problems directly affecting the pvp encounters need attention focus and need to be fixed in priority instead of adding more things like unfair officers needing a way too long XP grind and having limited life's that break even more the pvp attractiveness with the surrender meta coming with them, too long time overdue to fix those broken mechanics that are def tag and hide in battle screen already . I love this game and overall really like what dev's are doing with is, but for such things i simply cannot understand why so simple solutions allowing to prevent abuses cannot be added or tested before starting to add some other stuff, it's the main core mechanics of the game that we are speaking about and they are totally broken and exploited at almost each encounter ... ---------------OW encounter ------------------- Fir Wood rattlesnake to Oak wood rattlesnake : " i'm faster than you and gaining terrain on you, will catch you soon " Oak Snake : " Yeah i see that , please do and come closer to get me " Fir Snake : " Damn this guy have nuts, he knows he's screwed for speed and attacked me as soon as i entered in the attack radius " ---------Battle Session loading --------------- Fir Snake : " WTF he spawned miles away ... out of range for a hit and no way to catch up and be in range in barely 2 minutes " ------------------ 2mn later ----------------- Oak Snake : " hey faster snake, hope you enjoyed the view of my stern through your spyglass at a high zoom level, cya soon ... or not " -------------OW loading --------------- Fir snake : " let's wait and see if he comes out ... " --------------- 45mn later --------------- Fir snake : " Nope still hiding , screw it ... "
  9. Last 3 levels need 3000, 4000, 5000 officer xp , officer xp is half the xp you get out of combats or travelling, so they need 6000, 8000, 10000 normal xp for the last 3 levels, grinding all this again is a pain ...

  11. How is that a cheat when it's part of the game possibilities ? and how different it is from guys using TS voice comms with them teammates inside battle and reporting all intel in Nation chat ? You can already get up to 3 crew killed with a single ball of 6pd shot at the stern of ships right now

Still no changes to officer total xp needed to be fully leveled up or the limited 10 life's that plague the pvp with surrender meta ? around 35K xp needs to be made putting higher ranked players in favorable position compared to lower level ones not able to grind easily xp doing fleet missions in SOL's or simply not having a level high enough to get 35K xp cumulated, higher ranked players having the upper hand on lower ranked ones, any changes on this to make it more fair for all ? Still no way to leave my officer at dock when i don't need it while using a trader ship for example ? Still not multiple officers possible, one dedicated to traders, one for small ships, one for frigates one for sol's for example ? Still nothing for defensive tag plague that ruins pvp, players using def tag will spawn way further than the 500m and while they are slower in OW or in battle session they are still able to nullify your speed advantage and escape easily then hide or logout in the end result screen, simple fix : make the one pressing the attack button locked 10 minutes in the battle with no way to escape during those 10 first minutes, as long as there is still enemies inside the battle of course, if all enemies leave player can leave before the 10mn, faster ships will be able to regain the speed and advantage they had in OW that is nullified with the def tag broken mechanic and spawn distances in the battle session compared to OW distances . Impatient to test the new acceleration in game, looks like a game changer to me, will take probably some time to get used to it but seems like a very interesting change, especially with extra sails upgrades that might be essential in battles now, hopefully we will be able to craft those in next patch , the optimized ballast that is under the speed category for upgrades might actually have also an effect on ships speed providing less friction on water etc ... Bit worried about crew loss and potentially too shortened battles but need to see and test this, speaking of testing what is needed to test the new ships like some moderators and many players not being beta testers i see get in game already ? Santa Cecilia , rattlesnake heavy for example ? Waiting impatiently for this new content, looks like some things will change quite a bit the physiognomy of the sailing in battles and we will have to learn new things for every type of ships, this diversity can only be more interesting and i'm looking forward to it, hope patch come very soon. And if crafting wasn't half RNG and we could select the 2nd trim like speed desired and the number of upgrades slots on ships by adding more notes or whatever to start with, it's hard enough to get a ship fitting what you need without having to do a dozen of them by rolling a dice each time you press the craft button to see those getting one dura only on the top of this ..

Was wondering how many sounds this game engine can run simultaneously, some game engines let you set 64 layers, 128 or 256 for example, some are set by default on 64 layers and you need to manually edit the .ini files to profit of more sounds run simultaneously or you loose some during complex sound environment display, then i found this : http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/220564/how-many-sounds-can-play-all-at-once.html, again there is mention of the cracks but apparently linked to some reverb and i didn't understood much about the sounds priority that are virtualized first here, game engines are not my thing. Saw also that it could be looping sounds that generate a click before the loop if they are not starting and especially ending with a quick fade in/out effect at 0dB volume lvl ,saw some code to add a fade-in effect directly in game engine too, not sure what it i worth but who knows. And also this : http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/375774/what-causes-the-audio-clicking-how-do-i-get-a-clea.html , "unity 3d sound crackling" in google gives load of result, hard to see clear in all this without spending days on it. My soundcard can run 128 at once, 128 hardware-accelerated voices or 3D voices like they call it sometimes, most recent card can easily run 256, however i highly doubt we reach the 128 sounds at once in game, ctrl+k log that i just found in game seems to say the same, played games with way more complex and rich sound environment without any issues, will have to play a bit with ctrl+k opened record videos when it happens, then check for looping sounds displayed to verify, btw is it possible to move the crtl+k sound log window from the middle of the screen ? wasn't able to move it when i tried it . Will see what i can come with in the next days .

Had time to test a bit and done this quickly tonight, tried to highlight the cracklings in the video uploaded here : http://www.mediafire.com/download/dl76t7v8ymovvhz/NA+sound+crackling.mkv ( not uploaded to youtube since audio quality is quite crap there even at high rates ) It doesn't happen in all battle instances, seems related to some ships or guns used, here it's heavily triggered especially at the start, not noticed this using a Essex or Frigate in fleet battles for example, had it on first attempt using a capped constitution loaded with long guns, had it the most when leveling up a bit my officer using a Bellona for 2-3 days and then sold it, was really annoying there, might have to craft another Bellona in the next days and see if i can trigger this more using it again to bring more infos on this. Ships in this test battle in case it might help : Will see in the next days and try to get more examples and data on this. Thanks.   21. You man certainly have no problems with gold seeing all flags you are able to buy daily or like yesterday half a dozen of them in less than 2 minutes
  22. It ain't anymore with most fights ending by surrenderer more or less quickly, more like a loss of time for what you earn in the end now.
  23. Looks nice so far. First thing that came to my mind too, i hope so. Now all this reminds me i need to isolate and pin point at least one of the current gun sound having a crackling in it that is easy ( and irritating ) to hear in battle, not sure if it's at the start or at the end of the gun sound effect but during battles this single crackling sound is very annoying to hear repetitively on good audio setups. PS : will waves sound effect when they hit the ships be different depending of if we sail a small ship or bigger one to add a bit more variety ?

Making around 300k in 8 hours and 3-4 bottles like some guys i know doing this when at work or sleeping each day, while sitting afk in the middle of nowhere fishing ... just sailing 20-25 mn before going afk and 20-25mn when coming back ... If you even go that far as there is plenty of nice spots for fishing idle not far from coasts that will barely see any other ship visit ... Please can i have a Bank returning me 15-20% interests rate each night on the money i have stored while i'm not even playing a single second ?
  25. Many don't sail ships ships corresponding to what they can sail at them rank. I am rear admiral, i have mostly 5th rates that i love to sail, i don't like to use sluggish Sol's, almost never have 4th rates in my docks, had a couple of throw out 1 dura 4th rates captured last week like it happens once in a while, well only one atm since one as i lost one shot with 44 leaks at once yesterday... longest time i kept a third rate in game was few days ago to grind officer with a Bellona , kept it for 2 or 3 days the time to reach level 8 or 9 on officer and get the frigate perk then sold it , beside this particular occurrence i never kept a third, 2nd or first rate for me more than a couple of hours after crafting them, i can craft me a Sol and grind easy cash and XP, but why will i do it as i don't find any entertainment in this ? Hopefully i have other ways to make gold and crew isn't a problem for me but i know players of similar levels who also like to sail smaller ships as they bring a more interesting gameplay and they have more difficulties than me to make substantial gold to afford stuff in game ... Let apart some lower levels ones that i regualry see or help and just can't keep up with all costs and are always put at disadvantage. And not only the crew cost is a lot for low ranks but like i said already few times the officer needs an insane grind to be efficient, 35K xp more or less, same amount of XP needed to pass from Master & Commander to Post Captain and then reach Flag Captain, if you are not rear admiral doing fleet missions in the biggest possible ship you are screwed and put automatically on the weak side with big disadvantages without a full set of officer perks while more advanced players who are playing long enough to get a lot of nice upgrades and ships can profit of nice officer perks and grind them quickly ... This game gives all advantages to those who need them the less ... The thing that comes back the more in chat as complain from players not at the end levels is the grind needed, and with crew cost and officers the players who are not at max level and doing pve fleets using Sol's are even more screwed ... A nice way to welcome new players or those progressing slower in game due to less playing time... this can only hurt the game and make it less appealing for any player interested in such game ... Come to the game and be free food for more experienced players having way more advantages than you can ever dream about ...
