  1. In open world the speed is more than battle instance. And that 18 knots is only when the wind favour you. Sometimes is 13 and sometimes is 7, depends the wind.
  2. I think that all ships must be named with their generic class name. For example in all menus for purchase ships the Trincomalee should be "Leda class english late frigate" or "Leda class frigate" only, Victory class english first rate, etc. In Open Sea at great distance, only "Big Sail" or "Small Sail" is sighted. Bigger ships can be sighted at more far distance. Depending the weather and light too. Then the type of ship appears, Frigate, Ship of the Line, Brig... The nation and specific class (Leda class frigate, Victory class first rate...) should be seen after while the ship is closing in Open Sea. In Open Sea, the name of ship writing in the stern should be seen (in the info window) only if you are in the stern area (150º maybe) of ship at spyglass distance. The ship can hide his player and ship name if don't show their stern if he is not customized ship. Nation can't be hidden if false flag tactics don't will be implemented. In Open Sea, the name and data of player appear in info window when you are more near or when you are able of see the ship's name (maybe 150º in stern area). If the player is sailing a paint customized ship, then the identification of player should be the most far. Some info of nation and player can be show over the ship that you had hail in Open Sea. Flags should be show in Open Sea too. In battle instance: In stern only show the ship name. In info window*, both the ship and player name is shown only if the ship is customized or you had identified that stuff in Open World. Player name only in info window* when you look at the ship directly like now, but remove all letters floating over the ship. Quick identification of ships, you can remember the different banners on top masts or ship's customization at first of the battle. *Another thinking about show name of ship and players on info window. Maybe is better don't show names in battle info windows, only when pressing TAB for players joining in instance info. This way the battles can be more immersive if you must be sure before open fire. Look at the nation flag or banners if the stern flag is hidden behind the sails of smoke. This is a tactical advantage for lone player between various enemies and add confussion and danger of friendly fire. All a lot of fun I think.
  3. Better in stern only the ship name. Player name only in info window when you look at the ship directly like now, but remove all letters floating over the ship. Quick identification of ships you can learn the different banners on top masts or ship's customozation at first of the battle. For justify the name on info window: Someone (the apprentice boy) in your crew is watching in all time the flags and banners and he reminds you who is who in battle. You for immersion reasons could don't look this info.
  4. Maybe I should make a poll with my next suggestion, but I don't know how now. I think now that maybe we need some consensus about the paint schemes in ships. We have Constitution and Trincomalee with late paintings mixed with more early paintjobs in the rest of ships and I think it is "more anachronistic". Now, as I see in some new screenshots, we will get more black and white paintings. I know that historical ships are painted black and white and others black and yellow but mixed in battles seem some out of place. I would like that all most modern ships were the same yellow-black scheme before they were painted with the most modern white-black. And the ships that never were painted with yellow, we could make a "artistic license" painting her yellow-black or making the white more "yellowing". When the game is more advanced maybe we will can change paint schemes and this "problem" will be ended.
  5. And sorry for not to be more precise, chinchorro is in the middle of the east coast of east island, like most pirate harbours are hidden in the "dark side" of normal traveler way. Tumbado is not rought, only the exact island is. There's 3 or 4 little islands and Tumbado is in one, the most north I think. Anyway, there is many islands than are not the same shape in actual maps. Another pirate port is in St Andres island at south of Old Providence named "San Andres" and the pirate port of old providence is named "Old Providence". George Town in grand cayman, this Monday was english, not neutral. At north or north east of West End in bahamas, there's a pirate port named "Back Up" shallow waters, but the exact position I dont know because there's many cays in that area and I think that not all of them are in the map. In north key or cay of Bimini cays there's a pirate port named "Great Isaac Key" shallow waters. At west of Key West there's a Neutral port named Las Tortugas but in this case my info is from before the 1,5 weeks servers shut down. In the east side of Grand Bahama (the same where West End is) there's a pirate port named "Road Rocks Harbour" shallow waters. Is in the extreme east in the south coast At south of campeche there's a pirate port named Carmen in the same point os Ciudad del Carmen. At north of Tampico there's a pirate port named Soto la Marina. Is in the rought position of real town La Pesca. Pirate port "Barataria" (shallow waters) near of New Orleans in the middle south od Missssissssippi River (Put I the correct number of S letters? lol). But that area is not like in modern maps exactly. "Apalachicola", pirate port at south west of real city of Tallahassee. In the location of Apalachicola real town. And last for now, "Las Sabinas" shallow pirate port in the position of real cedar key in west coast of Florida at north of Tampa.
  6. The one in the bay at South of Tulum is Asuncion. At north of Belice is Salamanca. In Chinchorro island is the port pirate of Chinchorro. The other in the coast next to chinchorro I didn't find, I was sleep maybe... In the North of Yucatán is a Pirate harbour in the rought position of Isla Contoy named "Tumbado". My info is from 4 days ago.
  7. Are you sure? Yesterday I was there and Cayo Coco not saw Cayo Coco. Only Cayo Romano (Pirates) in that area.
  8. Is not Fort Baii, it is Fort Baai I think.
  9. This morning Parrot Cay was Neutral.
  10. You can stay in fight. All your fleet go to Key West (for example) fighting pirates meanwhile other american players with more pacific interests made the colonizing work. Also there's many pirate harbours in that area I think, you will not bored and pirates will be more easy prey for a organizated navy until you reach Cuba, Jamaica... If I was american player, It should be my prototype agenda. But as spanish player, based in the poll of nationalities, I don't know how the hell we will can be able maintain all our map in the fourth day of campaing... I think the war of Cuba will happen to an advance of 100 years P.S. You forget the 3 Dutch ports in Curacao islands that will attack the Spanish ports of Maracaibo and Caracas areas. Or the spanish ports that I guess exist in central america and Gulf of Mexico.
  11. I was reading about this topic and I think that english flag should be the red ensign for the caribbean and north atlantic area. Before 1864 they have the red ensign for merchant and red squadron. In 1864 was when they stablish the red for merchants and white for all Royal Navy. White ensign was for home waters, France coast and mediterranean. The blue ensign was South atlantic and pacific. This is the reason for al british colonies in pacific have blue flags and the caribbean and north american colonies (included United States but they add the white stripes) was the red ensign. Am I correct that the game english flag should be this?
  12. I think that if you are far from other competitors, you will be more easy begin to build a great empire in Bahamas, New Providence, Turks... without opposition. You can create a big stronghold grouping all your forces in Key West zone for example where you can threat Cuba. Now you are not so far from action. To have only one region (and far) to defend is more easy. And US also will have many more players to defend so much smaller initial territory. England have spread harbours all around the map but they will be the most populated faction. Now you can think about the poor Spain... so many and so spread colonies and so few ships to defend it... US no longer seems so hard to play true?
  13. I had read that 1763 was the Treaty of Paris and Spain cedes Florida to England but France cedes Louisiana to Spain in compensation for Spain's loses helping France. In 1783 while American Revolucionary War, Spain reconquest Florida (and conquest New Providence too). and in 1803 Napoleon's France recovers Louisiana. In 1823 Spain lose Florida to United States. That map changes in 1783. That year Florida (and bahamas I think) and Mosquito coast are spanish again. England loses the 13 colonies and USA is created in that territory. Jamaica was the largest island that remains english and various other little islands of caribe. In 1803 louisiana returns to France and soon after to United States. Between 1810 and 1823 (I think) Spain loses all territories in continental North and Central and South America.
  14. Admin, I thought that you could include a JPG map with the locations you use, but now I think that better we can explore the world. It's fun to explore and discover the towns and map limits and the uncertainty bring us immersion and a more feeling from hugeness of the map.
  15. Yeah jodgi, that is more like I remember that area. Quartermaster guessed oranjestad was in curacao because that name is duplicated in real life. Pampatar, neutral (11000, -63794) La Blanquilla, pirate (11840, -64645) La tortuga, neutral (10900, -65335) La Orchilla, neutral (11800, -66115) Someone can give the ports of Nevis, St Kitts. I need too Saba at SW of St Kitts and Anguilla at north of St Marteen. Thanks
  16. I'm talking about the Quartermaster mapping application. In my travel Fort Oranje is in the Bonaire island the next at east from Curacao. In Curacao is Willemstadt where your map is marked like Fort Baii and the next west island named Aruba is Fort Zoutman where you has marked like Oranjestad. The three town I am talking about are United de Provinciën all of them. Oranjestad I think is in the Virgin islands or near Gustavia, but when I was there I didn't log my travel. And the port of Plymouth in Montserrat is neutral, not english. Maybe not all of us we have the same town names? P.S. Many people gave the game coordinates but we nave not aposibility for enter that coordinate and see where the ports are. And now that servers are down...
  17. Older map is better for me. Modern maps is better for details in the coast. The cuban flags? Indicate neutral ports? In other maps yours there is other flag indicating neutrals. You can be the ultimate Naval Action cartographer if you draw your own from scratch with a pencil
  18. Yeah yeah voice, drums, cornet or any audio signals depends of situation are ok.
  19. Well, make optional and can change the volume of some voices. The battle don't take much time before powder and ammo runs out and the charging process don't take every 5 seconds. And you can reduce the voices only "Guns ready sir!" When you are bored of voices or don't like, you can mute or decrease volume, and the point is that we can quit all visual markings and control the ship with sounds for great immersion. But this is not first priority thing of course.
  20. Can you make the battle zone limit moveable with the battle? Taking the center of limit in the middle of the distance between ships. This way the ships never reach the limits when battle, only when the ships are too far away. Only a idea, I know that battle limit is a temporary solution and not worth waste time in this, but maybe is too easy to make.
  21. Sorry for my english. I was thinking about need of audible signal for example: first battery ready, second battery ready, guns aiming complete, sail and rudder position reached, collision warning. Crew or subofficials voice and/or whistle. You can too ask situation when the guns are not charged and you press fire button, someone tell you the seconds left. Second in command or petty officer can repeat with voice the orders that you transmit via keyboard too. The idea is that we could control the battle and manouvering without visual markers. I know too that this can make too audio clutter in some situations. I only write here for take the better that you like that is doable. By the way, can you make the rudder stay on intermediate positions? Now is only center or all the way board or starboard or maybe I miss some key combinations.
  22. I like this. Only visible when limit is near. Or changing colour or wide or form of the actual line is better. Make semitransparent too. Or making a visual representation of the gun in the lower of the screen side to charging guns indicators.
  23. Yeah this is the idea. Thanx Subutai, my english is not perfect. My idea IS NOT crosshairs and airplane's HUD style for detailed gunnery. Only minimalized markers for elevation limits. The real gunner had their cannon and he had and idea for angle left to elevate or depress and he can sense the roll of ship. We can't sense this and need some markers. I like the game system now and I want less markers possible and shoot by "using the Force like Luke Skywalker" XD. Sorry for the simile but is difficult for me explain me in english. Another idea is see the barrel gun at bottom of the screen and see direct their elevation. Like if you were an master gunner making ranging shots before broadside.
