  1. I am not sure why the wind changes direction in battle? There isnt a lot of cases where that actually happened. And if it is because someone cant sail and gets stuck on a sandbar because they were to close to land.... well that is their fault.
  2. I personally hate the wind changing as fast as it does in battle. It makes zero sense for me to jockey for the wind advantage only to have it change in 10minutes.
  3. Ok Trump. LOL that has to be the most ignorant statement I have seen since the US Election, or the last time Trump took to Twitter. While some people who are rich are that way because of hard work and playing smart, others are rich because of luck and hand-me-downs. The same goes for the poor, some are poor because they lack the knowledge and or the skills to make money, and others because of bad-luck and theft.
  4. I agree. With the fact that ships feel like they turn WAY to fast. More so on the bigger ships. I understand they are war ships and shouldnt be immobile but some of them turn better than a modern day schooner. But honestly I can deal with mobility, it is the cannon accuracy that bothers me. Cannons are way to accurate.
  5. I agree with this. Southern Haiti or the Yucatan would be a great place for this port.
  6. On the topic of fishing, I would love to see more whole fish have value over fish meat. Like tuna, marlin, and even sword fish. Those are all money fish, always have been, for their meat and weight. Even adding a commodity "Fish Oil" extracted from some fish, it would be a alternative to whaling and still quite historical. Fish oils were still very prized and often used in many products during the 18th and 19th century. You could also ad a chance to catch lobster and crab in some regions. I know the US Carolina coast is known for its blue crabs.
  7. If you think your job is like slavery then perhaps you are in the wrong career field. I enjoy my job, and I am no slave to it. If you honestly think working today is anything like slavery then you sir have never studied history. And you think the children in this sale add are putting out a resume for work? A 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 11,12 13, and 16 year old children!
  8. Are you really trying to say that having a job is anything like slavery? Seriously? Your boss is not your owner, you can quit at any time and leave that job and go to another one, making more money or less money based on skills. You are a skilled laborer not a slave. A slave was taken from his/her home against their will, forced in to work, beat into submission, and then sold to those willing to pay for that labor, where they were given no to little pay and then charged for room and board forcing them to stay as a slave until death. Slaves were often chosen to breed with other slaves to create more complacent slaves, which is akin to institutionalized rape. Others were forced to fight for entertainment of their owners. Any slave that attempted to run away was often beat, most often with a barbed whip. Others would be caned on the bottoms of their feet as to prevent them from running away again. Some had their Achilles tendons cut to prevent them from running. Others still were torn apart by the hunting dogs used to track them, as a lesson to other slaves. In my study of history I have learned a lot of dark things about our past, and slavery is one I will not stand for.
  9. It also reminds me of a car sales pitch. I get what you are trying to say, but it also offends me that you think that a sales pitch like that is like a "resume". The difference is those people did not WANT to be sold, or owned, and were likely broken up to make more money as individuals. I live in the south, I am an African-American, I have heard, or been called all matters of things in my life, and I dont want a game, while based in history, to make light of slavery.
  10. I am not sure how 2 will fix anything. If you want to go faster into the wind, use a fore-aft rigged ship, Lynx, Privateer, Pickle, Prince. Some others do well in close hauled situations, like the LGV, Surprise, and Belle. Use the right ship for the right job.
  11. You want to watch the game die in less than a month. Add a subscription fee to it. No offense but this game isnt worth 10USD a month. Not when it is already struggling to keep 1k players on it total. A cash shop for cosmetic items would be nice, but wouldnt amount to much income for the work needed to maintain it. People would complain after 90 days that they want NEW skins and personal flags and such.... Before long you have pink sails, with neon green stripes, on purple spotted Victories. Lastly if you add weapons or special ships, then it becomes a pay to win shop, and that will drive off players just as fast as a monthly subscription. Right now this game has been free for to long for them to suddenly go to a pay monthly model.
  12. It is almost like the races in Eve... the risk of PVP is part of the challenge. But if you are good you will know how to avoid it and still be fastest. A good smuggler or cargo runner knows these tricks, a better privateer/pirate knows how to catch them. What day was this supposed to take place on?
  13. The question is, when was the last time you saw a Inger used in a PB or in OW hunting outside of the PVE server and random PVE npc grinds?
  14. I have noticed this trend in quite a few newer MMOs coming out of this region in the world. Could it be laziness, lack of skill, fear, lack of software, funding, or all of the above. I am thinking all of the above. Most of the newer MMOs coming out of Eastern Europe/Russia have been lacking on the AI/NPC development part, while they are all pretty, none of them have any real competent NPC or AI depth. Usually coded with one of two choices in mind, A- Fight, or B-Run.
  15. No, No, No. Please no one uses the oldest ship in game now the Ingermanland. For obvious reasons, it is old. It is outclassed by EVERYTHING in its rating and even below it. And it looks like ass. Sorry there is a reason why we dont have ships from the 1600s in game. Even the famous Fluyt isnt in game. Even though it would be nothing more than a fat Snow.
  16. I wouldn't mind a sound, bell or something signalling the spotting of a sail. But this could be annoying in high traffic areas.
  17. I believe the road map for this year is pretty short. 1- finish UI 2- Finish tutorial 3- try to make it to 2019.
  18. No but it leads to the my above statement... of tag griefing.
  19. And outside is 4X.... so how does that match up? I know before you used to just tag someone to stop them, while your heavy hitters caught up to the battle and joined. You could keep this up till server reset if you wanted to. It was horribly abused and will be abused again. If you think the PB timers are bad, just wait if they add that back you will rage quit in a matter of days because of the abuse that will bring. 1 or 2 Prince used as a tagger, and 4 Wasa as the hammer. Yeah.. that sounds like a good current meta to bring anything down. The Prince could be well out of sight of the Wasa ships, and still slow down ANYTHING on the OW by just tagging it and drawing it into battle, then sitting at max range and hitting it every 60sec with a single shot to keep it there, till the Wasa fleet arrives. If it is a bad entry for the Wasa, and they are to far away, they just leave first and wait for the pray to get out... then the prince RE-Tags it and they get into BETTER position to hit it again. Yeah fun... no not really.
  20. You do realize that 10knts OW is about 40knots in battle right? OW speeds are 2x faster than battle speeds, AND the map is HALF scale to Battle Scale. So you effectively are getting a 4x speed jump. Here is an example for you. A Trader Brig sails out of La Navas at 0815 heading north west to George Town. A Pirate jumps out in a Belle Poole 20min later, and catches him 40min after that, so at 915 the battle starts. The T-Brig screems for help in national chat, and a Victory and a Surprise jump out of Kingston at 930, then sail around the cape, head north to where the battle is, and arrives at 1845, they then jump into the battle spawning damned near on top of the Belle Poole pirate who had an easy prey. Because for the Pirate and the Trade ship it has only been 20min real life in battle. Hmm... I dont know what the average sortie time for a 5th rate was back in the 19th century, but I am pretty sure it wasnt instant sail from port. And the average pirate encounter with a merchant ship was less than 30min in game, and less than 60 min in real life. So how is it fair, plausible or even realistic, that a ship is magically caught up to even though that battle would have been concluded by the time anyone got there to help. Fact is if you cant see the start of the battle, you should not be able to enter the battle. And you should load in on the edge of the map from the direction you were sailing from. If you want escorts, have someone escort you and stay within tag range the WHOLE time, this is how escorts worked, and how they STILL work.
  21. If a real mast was damaged like that, odds are the top would split off while under full sail. If you look at a tree, and you watch lumberjacks cut at it, they dont just cut straight across the trunk. No they cut a wedge out of it. This weakens the trunk base, AND it gives them some control over where it will fall. You can find countless videos of trees snapping unexpectedly on the lumberjack because of wind or other force, while he is still cutting the wedge out. Seeing as a mast is pretty much a tree trunk, the same logic would apply.
  22. It should have been a "Rookie Brig" which is pretty easy to kill in a basic cutter. It is there because it is a bigger target than another cutter and has a few more guns but not much more powerful, and actually slower.
