  1. I don't know, I like the idea, however, I could see big clans using it to pick on and destroy smaller clans... especially in pirate waters. Not to de rail your thread, but what about Enemy of the State to drive PVP? What: Enemy of the State (EOTS), a player who has within a time period sunk over a specified number of Players. A player is flagged as Enemy of the State, admiralty places a bounty on the player. How: Any player how has sunk a specified number of players, say 5, in OW, within 24 hours, is tagged as Enemy of the State. Once a player is tagged as EOTS the Admiralty will automatically place a bounty on the player's head that tied to the total number of players the EOTS has sunk within a rolling 24 hours. Notes with players last know location will drop by fishing and loot (similar to the old system). An EOTS board added to national ports that will list current EOTS and the bounty on their head. The player must return to a national port to claim the EOTS bounty. Optional: Sinking a player ship, EOTS or not, will have a lootable ships’ nameplate. To claim an EOTS, one must turn in the nameplate to the Admiralty. Nameplates can only be redeemed for a bounty of EOTS if obtained after the EOTS bounty has been placed. All other nameplates are for “bragging rights”. Why: Primarily to drive PVP through the hunting of players who are already actively participating in PVP. Calling active PVP player location will drive and focus the PVP in an area. Obviously, the numbers could be balanced and or BR used. The only exception to BR use is traded ships would have to be included and counted above their BR.
  2. So who do you think controls the rules of the forums, and who enforces the rules, and who ensures they are enforced appropriately? yes you can say what ever you want, but the rules of the forum don't protect you from anything, they are merely guidelines. If Admin wants to censor your ass for any reason, he damn well can and you don't even have peg leg to stand on. If you think you do... boy do I have a ship to sell you. It looks and sails like a basic cutter but has the guns, armor, and crew of a vic. She's a shallow water too with built in unlimited repairs and rum. All your for a cool 5 mill. As for the BLACK clan name, may be try and be part of the community and not finding ways to circumvent mechanics. You earn a reputation, it's never given with out cause.
  3. Not all areas is it perfect, hence why I said most. However look at the FL straights currents move west to east and winds are north east to south west. Again it's pseudo realistic. It's about making the game fun while adhering to some form of true weather. Fair enough, didn't see a break. So there are two things with comparing na to elite in this way. One bigger ships for the most part got bigger jump drives. So your range extended the further you progressed. In na it's the opposite, the bigger ships are slower. 2nd, you are occupied with flying the ship, you have come out of a jump, scope and turn to the next nave point every minute or so. With na you can afford sail for the most part.... Oh and in elite AI may try to attack you and pull you from hyperspace. Also my point is many players want to join PBs but are limited due to time. Its a shit excuse cause you are telling players don't play part of the game cause the work can be unreasonable. That is the point of balancing, to ensure it is reasonable. PvP does in fact move, look at where the pirates and French pvp now. You wouldn't have e seen a single one in that area two weeks ago. Again, I'm not saying people don't complain about it.. Just that it's not the only grind they complain about. And again no one is forcing you to grind to build a ship or to grind up the skill slots. Hence why "no one is forcing you" is a bad argument. So first, the game is not built around the idea that one person can support a full ship building line. It annoys me that the devs don't do more to promote cooperation with ship building. 2nd, it would be a lot easier for them to make money to replace their ships if sailing did take so long.
  4. To help, when invisible you shouldn't be able to see other ships. It will be a lot hard to tag right after invisibility if you can't see them till they can see you.... Not impossible, just harder.
  5. Again, I believe this is an issue that needs to be fix. My original post had nothing to do with this. I never said my base of operation was NO. I was simply referencing the recent NO PB and the duration it takes to sail there. And your right no one is forcing me to sail up there, just as no one is forcing me to play the game, just as no one is forcing you to play, or to play British with a broken capital. My point here is "no one is forcing you" is a shit excuse and a cop out. Ask anyone, if you want to be part of RVR, you'll do a lot of OW sailing. I'm simply suggesting that sailing long distances to compete in PBs or pvp could be considered a grind. To help with that I have an outpost in kpr, however, when the PvP action moves, I'm unable to participate. As for TP, it should not be allowed as it takes players out of the OW and encourages gank and hide tactics. First I agree, if it's not balanced we could end up with major issues with to small of a map or ganking issues. I that is why I suggested "channels" like high ways. If you are attacked in one, yes there could be a lot of back and forth, the invisible has helped with this somewhat. However if you are attacked out side of a channel, players coming to help would still have to sail at normal OW for part of the trip and so the battle will close. I'm not saying you should be able to cross the map in 15 minutes, just that it shouldn't take hours. As for the port location, the map is always moving, pb take place at random locations. To keep up with it you will need to do a lot of OW sailing. And the rest of the lengthy post about how I was wrong cause of a separate issue. Made no sense, they are two separate grinds. Your right I can't disagree with your statement, however I disagree with your opinion that it needs to be changed. As I said, balance to pvp rewards, and mission loots will balance the grind. No its an assumption cause I've seen reviews talking about travel as a grind. As I said I still believe there are a fair bit that don't like the current ship building process. Personally I have no issues with it. I have access to just about any ship I could want. My problem is it takes to long to sail it anywhere. To participate in a pb you have to sail in OW that is a fact, to participate in pvp you have to sail in OW that is a fact. Smart ports have nothing to do with it. You only get so many and so you will have to relocate those ports. It takes to long. Again my clan can make and replace any ship with little to no notice. I don't see an issue with this. Take a look at the maps again, they don't go the same direction and again... I my base is not in New Orleans. As I said before balance realisim and game play.
  6. Really? Nothing is forcing me to travel anywhere so its fine? By that logic, no one is forcing you to do a KPR mission, so it's fine. The issue is if you want to go to the PVP, you have to travel, sometimes quite far. If you want to go to a PB, you have to travel, sometimes quite far. Look at New Orleans, it would take an hour plus to get from our base to NO in a first rate. The fact of the matter is, just sailing in OW is boring, aside from cleaning your hold of fish there is just nothing to do. Having a way for players to move more quickly (with in reason) around the map does nothing but promote game play. Players would spend less time sailing and more time fighting, trading, and general shenanigans. My method of Trade Winds and Currents is fair and pseudo realistic. Not sure how or why you think my post has any relation to the KPR issue. I'm all for fixing it. I disagree, with only level 25~ I can get you a surprise a day. with current travel times, you wouldn't be able to get back to port if you lost it anyways. I agree that will take some time, however, I think you could do it in a few days. I never play EVE, however with elite dangerous, while they had the insurance system, it still would only take you a few days or so to get back a Andaconda. That being said, I would 100% be ok with an insurance system, as long as the cost to build a ship fell in line with it. That would mean maybe even doubling the cost of to make a ship. That is a lot of assumption, but to be fair I believe some of it is in fact related to the gold grind and ship knowledge grind. To fix that they need to find additional sources of income. Missions do not pay enough to support a player (this is a good thing, we don't want people doing only missions all day long). PVP can be profitable, but only slightly. Trade can net you some good money, but not everyone wants to do that all day long. So they need to up the rewards for PVP, you should also get something for losing a PVP fight. I mean come on, you got to go buy a new ship.... As well the rewards for missions should be balanced, I don't believe the coin needs to change, however, you should get more loot and better loot. I DON'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT 10 MED CANNONS. I have also seen plenty of reviews saying it takes too long to get anywhere. I believe you are referring to the resource cost? I think they were trying to make 1st rates rare. However, it's kind of hard to do that and expect 50 people on a server that has 200-300~ players online to compete in port battles a few times a week. That being said I believe 1st rates should be rare, we shouldn't see everyone sailing around with them. I'm sure I'll get shot for this, however, I think the fix is to not change the cost but the demand. If deep water PBs didn't require 50 first rates and let's say limited it to 10-15 per side with the remaining manned by 4th rates you would see a drop in demand. A drop in demand would mean you would have more resources available for other ships. This would also completely change the PBs and make them a hell of a lot more strategic than they currently are. Take a look at the maps I posted, one is the wind, one is currents, for the most part, they go opposite each other with the exception of a few areas. with this in mind, they could map "channels" with increased speed in all directions. like I said, it would be pseudo realistic and allow for more emergent game play. At some point, you got to balance realism and fun. I belive that time has come for OW traval.
  7. The only issue I have is with travel time. I get a few hours a day, 2-3 depending on how well the kids sleep. So to be able to relocate to where the action is can sometimes take up the entirety of my play time. It would be nice to see trade winds and currents added, something to drastically shorten the travel time. Adding a speed buff similar to the invisibility buff, while inside these "Highways" would be a great solution. Players would have charted paths to move ships and trade around, and PVP would focus on these areas. To top it all off, while most of the current head in one direction, the trade winds head in the opposite.
  8. LOL you kind a proved my point there. Brits wouldn't post miss information to their own nation. They get nothing out of it. So there are two options. They are truly a Brit player and posted it for no reason what so ever. They gain nothing from it and in fact, lose credibility within the nation. It's an alt from another nation with hopes of undermining the Brit nation. You tell me what is more likely.
  9. So why would a true Brit player post that?
  10. I like the exit idea. However, I don't like the idea of supporting tp. We don't want people tping all the time.
  11. I have to say, I love the creative thinking here. You want to reward the victor, however you don't want to make it so that no other nations can compete with them.
  12. The idea is to reduce multiple retags that can take hours and gank revenge fleets. If you take someone correctly, they will never get away. If you do a shit job tagging.... you better hope you know what direction they are going to head and can match it. I'm 100% for this, it rewards good planning and reduces the amount of dumb as re-tags when you get away.
  13. 100% support this. We really don't need an E-Penis channel. However automatic reporting and PB info would be very helpfull.
  14. I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating. - Sophocles
  15. So why did they add the 30 min log in timer for PBs? It's pretty obvious the devs didn't intend for players to hide prior to PBs. The intent is that you would work together as a nation to overcome screening forces. Think of the spirit of the game/rules and not the letter of the law. But don't worry, when NA legends comes out, you'll have the match play you crave so much, no screening or OW for you to deal with.
  16. So punish people trying to keep the game fare... That will go over well.
  17. Lmao how do figure that? And how the hello kitty is screening griefing but hiding in a battle for an hour is ok? God this single line has to be one of the best hypocritical post of all times.
  18. Seems like we can't have a single PB without a small ship getting in the way. @admin any update on the PB fleet/group mechanic?
  19. Hey look, it is historical accurate. Thx @Hodo
  20. It's for balance that they set it up that way. It has improved the game.
