  1. Some of the best was taking on elite or whatever they where called, PVE battles. No drama, no name calling, just good clean fun. Old RVR, the fun of the smaller battles, someone pulled a flag and we all drop what we are doing to race and intercept. (PLEASE BRING THAT BACK IN THE FORM OF RAIDS!!!!!!) The people, some of you all are good chaps, yes the rest are assholes but hey, your fun too. When I first engaged Pagan Pete . I was a noob but that was one hell of a fun fight. Watching Vicious run from me in a PB. That was ROFL good fun. Getting chased by 4~ Spanish up the coast of FL, luckily the US Coast Guard has a quick response time. I don't think the Spanish expected the LVG they where chasing to turn around and tag them.
  2. I take it this is your first time playing a game not made by a major developer/publisher and your first alpha/beta. Delays happen, their is no way of knowing exactly how long its going to take to finish each aspect of the patch. So they guess, some times they get it wrong, sometimes they get it right. Seeing the change log and the crazy amount of complete rework that's happening, I would be a bit worried if they didn't get any delays. Add it that its a wipe, ohh man does that complicate things. Last time they did any sort of change "hostility and the changes to the ports" you would of thought they announced the end of the world. I think they gave like 3 weeks notices and still people bitch that they didn't know/have the time to make arrangements. That being said, they could have held off on the announcement till a bit closer, however something tells me people would still bitch about how they wasted their time on grinding x or y. I think in general the player base forgot this is a beta game. sorry I'll get off my soap box now, didn't mean to take it out my frustrations on you @CdrNexoe
  3. @admin so I'm going to add my 2 cents in here, even though I doubt anyone really wants it. Trade: Trade should be a valid way of making money, and a fair share of it. Crafting higher end ships should be more difficult, but not to the point of frustration. (yes the PVPers will bitch about it, but an OW game is all about balance.) Trade ships should not be given full unlocks, they should work the same as combat ships with modified numbers. (sailing, and completing trade missions for EXP).. Trade missions should be compelling... hell, all missions should be compelling. Add some story behind it, I understand you are a small team, however I think I know of a few guys that may be willing to help wright mission briefings. :looks around the room: Crafting: Add/Create production buildings like shipyards, Foundry for metal work, Carpenter for wood, Tailor for Sails.... This "Recommends" crafting specialization, IE, you craft all the guns & metal parts, Bob crafts all the Wood parts, so on and so on till one person puts it together. This also means 1 person can't build a ship from harvesting the mats to putting it all together. This will increase the need to sell goods "parts of a ship" (more trade) and the need for players to work together. Add some sort of bonus to crafting, this doesn't mean go back to the colors or anything like that, however if you can have a small chance of making double the normal amount or harvesting a 2nd mat. Everyone likes a little bonus every now and then. Implement a Craftsman system. Allow players to hire a set number of Craftsmen, 3-5 that provide 1 or 2 bonus to crafting and production. Craftsmen would have salary paid out by # of production hours they impact. Ie. A lumberjack, increases yield of forest by 3% and has a 10 goal an hour salary. Blacksmith, decreases labor hours used in the foundry by 1%. Increase chance of bonus production by 10%, salary is 50 gold an hour. options should be given, not just 1 Craftsman per type but several with a variety of skills and quality of set skill. Craftsmen should increase in quality in ports that support that type of production. IE, a port that has a mine will have more Miner Craftsmen then a port with out any mines. The craftsman quantity will decrease the further you are from your capital. The Craftsmen have to be transported by ship similar to cargo. Craftsmen can be taken captive "stolen" the same way as cargo can. (optional but seems like fun) Add a national market, a way to see whats for sale all over the nation. Don't need a lot of details but may be just that this town has this # of Constitutions, to get their specs you would have to sail to the port they are being sold it. Just like the trade helper you already have, but for ships/player made goods. This means not all ships will be built and sold in the same location, brings players out on the OW to find their new ship. I'm sure I'll come up with more stuff, however any feed back is welcome.
  4. I got to ask @admin if you are not a fan of these ideas then what is your idea for moving the map and providing content other then just sailing and radome pvp? Why not just use your ideas? After all you all are the dev, we are just offering suggestions. In addition, I like crafting and buildings, that's not to say they couldn't use some work.
  5. @admin I agree with you. I just feel that having the dev team involved in it can leave a bad taste in peoples mouth. The best thing you (the dev team) can do to address the issues is to continue work on improving the game. Remember a lot of reviews call you out by name for being aggressive toward players. Don't give them fuel for the fire. It may be a US thing, but when I see things like this on reviews, I tend to trust the reviewer more. Why would the developer need to call out for community justice on a bad review if they have a solid game?
  6. Probably not a good way to get new players. If a new player comes to the forums as see one of the top topics is the admin calling for street justice on a review, well it just don't look good.

  8. Could be, but it also could be a shit ton of moneys in it. however we'll see.
  9. Wouldn't free ports be come trade centers for woods and other materials not readily available in near by ports? IE, Bermuda for Bermuda Cider and US east cost for Live Oak?? As well it would be a safe harbor if you are sailing though on your way to plan an attack on another nation. Even if there is not a LOT of value, why remove them?
  10. As a trader I think you got some of this wrong. no we are not sheep and no we will not rush to our death, however if you have something we need and we can't get it elsewhere we will find a way in. The changes to the free ports will mean cleaner lines of engagement. What do you think is going to happen at Bermuda and the US east coast? Traders will risk it if they get a reward like Live Oak. Jim will now know where everyone is at, simply look at the map and find where the dots change colors. Go fight there. Seeing you can't TP half way across the map and will need to in most cases attack from a friendly port, you'll know where most of the action is. I agree, and I think that is what they are doing, you won't be able to hop half away across the map to attack some place where your nation has no near by ports. Nations will hold chains of ports, those allowing supplies to move freely up and down the chain. Give the change a chance, rather then bashing it before its even in play give it a try. You'll never know you may like it, and if need be they could always undo it. Be part of the solution not part of the problem. Profit.
  11. Everyone has a lot of speculation about how its going to break the game, but whats the harm in trying it out for a few weeks?
  12. it would be nice to know lock out timers for each server. I believe they said EU would have a 10 hour lock out and the Global would stay the same. However they didn't talk about what time the lock outs would take place. The Global server timers will need to be adjusted to allow US and AUS players join PBs during their prime time.
  13. I like it, I've always thought free towns are to much of a mess. If a enemy ship is in hostile territory, he should have to sail in and out. just jumping to the FT and ganking players tends to spread out the PVP rather then focus it on the front lines.
  14. Love this idea, if a ship is sailing in hostile traitors, he should also have to sail out of it. I think you hit the pros and cons perfectly and it's a good move. So if you are removing the exit to port, are their plans to ensure you are not constantly having to escape battles? Prior to this option, traders may be able to escape the battle but can't seem to get away in OW. kinda meant you spend HOURS in battles that couldn't be won by anyone. Maybe invisibility just for escape from battles?
  15. sounds good, welcome aboard.... I'm sure the ship has charts and plots.
  16. First come first server, so why the hell not!
  17. You know it. I haven't seen it but I hear she's even more impressive. Always need a good cook, and well rum, beer and wine is always welcome. Bring lots of rum and beer, I plan on finding out what you do with a drunken sailor early in the morning. Sure, fellow sailors are always welcome and we'll need good topmen. Welcome aboard. Always wanted to see the leeward islands, St. Kitts work for you? We still got room for about about 440ish more!
  18. My plan is to steal the USS Constitution and live out my life sailing the high seas. FYI, Looking for crew members!
  19. Again, I agree with you, your points are valid. However Naval Action has an image issue. We are not going to get and keep new players if they log into chat and see massive fights. They won't get help and they won't want to get involved with the player base, they'll put down the game and tell their friends not to buy it. Look at the reviews, the player base has to be one of the top 3 if not top 5 issues. So, WE the player base, has to either start talking nice, play friendly or the devs have to block it. And said to say, I have no faith that the player base will do their part. Wounds are too fresh and too deep. At this point its not an exam, the teacher is splinting the class up and moving the problem children to the other side of the room from each other. Yes some of the good kids get mixed in. But if the next school day they can all play nice then things go back to normal.
  20. HOLY SHIT!!! @admin you have no IDEA how happy I am that you all understand that. Long Live the OW!
  21. I agree, this is a test bed patch, lets test it and see what happens. You truly wont know tell you try it. If we haven't learned yet, bitching on the forums doesn't get anyone anything.
  22. May be I missed it, but are you still planning on having NPC attack players? I really think this will add to the danger of sailing in enemy nations waters, help prevent ganking, and require attacking captains to play a bit more strategically when flipping a port. PS keep up the good work.
