  1. Taking this back. The AI would need to be retrained and, worse yet, EVERYONE will gripe about not being able to instaturn to get their cannon on target.
  2. These differences would be small compared to the model offered by the OP. Fantastic suggestion and should not be difficult to implement.
  3. I very much like these proposals. Do need to make the prize worthy enough to warrant the extra effort to bring to port. It will stop the capture and send your ship to port exploit. Could use any crew rank ups to randomly create new officers as they gain experience and get promoted.
  4. Taking mission in Coquibacao, South America now sends you to Port Morant, Jamaica. Just started happening today.
  5. Bravo, Sounds like a challenge! I just may sign up
  6. It is easy to predict that deep water will become ALL 3rd rates. Best solution is in economics as it was in the day. Third rates were efficient/cheap. First/Second rates should cost A LOT relative to 3rd, (give 3rds more durability or some such for example). So if they bring the big boys to a PB and win, at least you might make their victory Pyrrhic.
  7. Try Vedmed's map and utility. You will never have a problem finding anything.
  8. Tweaks are welcomed always. May want to fully declare where you want ships in the 'food chain' or role so people don't whine when their favorite ship gets nerfed relative to what they see as its equal. Definitely happy with the current model and direction. Don't let the bastards get you down, you have a great game here.
  9. As I understand it. Those trash-talking US players are now Pirates
  10. Awesome! With option to have in language consistent with your faction would be even awesomer.
  11. Player options for mobility between factions is important to maintain, but no faction should have an advantage over any other with regard to the "penalty" for switching allegiances.
  12. Many good ideas herein. All means of production should to be subject to interception with the prospect of a big payoff for some lucky corsair. This will keep OW tense. Trading and transport would never be boring.
  13. The Pirate "nation" is an exploit.
  14. Here's to hope that the Brits have more than just Port Royal left when this happens.
  15. Notes are a problem in a way many would not see. They are the most expensive commodity in the game, The life blood for production. The problem is they don't weigh anything. Even worse they can be produced at the spot of use with no risk of interception at sea. All means of production particularly the valuable ones should require some transport/logistics that exposes them to risk of interception. Without it the open world is less relevant. Although it would take work, I would suggest doing away with notes and integrating 'quality' at all levels of production and manufacture. e.g. Oak production would result in oak logs and a certain amount of 'choice oak logs' Planks made from choice oak makes choice planks Certain amounts of choice planks are required for better ships. Exceptional may require all choice planks. Labor time could also be integrated taking longer to make choice furniture required for my exceptional Vic Choice products would naturally be quite expensive and this cost would be spread out over all products. They would weigh something. And they could be stolen at sea for big profit. A big potential profit is essential to make hunting worthwhile. A hunted trader is not bored.
  16. My apologies, I meant no disrespect, Big hat tip to those who would fight on despite the odds. I had considered it simple metagaming should the Pirates opt to play crush to win. a port in a storm
  17. "Remember that we will be given the opportunity to build our own estates/ naitons." - QFT This pirate issue is a non issue. Oh and Henry Morgan was a patriot! No Pirate was he...yaaaar
  18. Just to be clear. It should cost MANY TIMES more, both in terms of gold and labor hours to upgrade a Victory than a cutter. Can it get more obvious?
  19. This sound more like an argument for than against. I agree with OP, it is an obvious addition that i assumed would take place. It is analogous to the one in eve and works well there. Currently upgrade for small ship costs more than entire ship. Need to do more to make small ships viable and OW entertaining, and this would be a step in the right direction.
  20. Exactly. US is strong on PVP2 They will need to thoroughly defeat Pirates there, or come merger, the problem will only be worse.
