  1. Yarr, me and some danes attacked a mercury and a brig with an fleetship in the bakcpack we had 2 Rattlesnake Corvettes and me ship. While the oposing side had a mercury, an american Brigg, and a lynx The Mercury went down in 2 salvos of 32 pdr ballshot, they didnt bothe to sned their carpenter to repair the mansized holes in their ship. The Brigg, happen to be to have not a great time either, another 2 broadsides ans she went down before the timbers hit the surface of the water. The lynx was killied by one of the danes. But the Revenge fleet Coast Guard of the Royal Navy was alredy gathering around us, so we split up. Me were going into the east while the Danes were going north. Me crew and ship was getting the island of pedro cay between us and our chasing enemies, we were chased by a fleet of rattlesnakes and for some reason our tactic to sail through a lineshipfleet worked again to get rid of the chasing enemies, we escaped. Sadly the danes were tight into a fight with a overwhelming number and were defeated in the end. thx for the help there guys, me wub ya lads^^
  2. the bigger question is, did the Captains and Comander had the knowlege we achieved due the severel hundred of gamehours? some of us gamers know and predict certain movement heels and so on. We load grape on a trink hope she depowers to late and shows us our weatherdeck and we sweep it, Because we know it is possible, we know the heelproblem and we know it because we learned it after several defeats. A Comander had only one live, they would have been able to achieve similer actions if they are fast thinking and knows the effectifness of said ammo, but would they take the risk of shooting grape on the weatherdeck, or go for ballshot depends on the Commander, the possebilities are to much to consider it. To the weatherdeck and protection, actually protection IS modeled in the game, cannons are solid and will protect everything behind it, the mast will eat the grape and staircases and other obstacles will also eath the grape. Hammocks wer also not stored on the weatherdeck they were stored into the hullwalls for protecting from splinters after an inpact. A grape in the rear would be devastating no matter if in real life or not, however the game dosent models the crew taking cover, that probelly the only thing that makes grape seems a bit powerful, if i see a ship starting firing at me, iam damn sure to hide behind a 32pdr carronade
  3. 28.09.1716 Pedro Cay, south Jamaika Me and me crew were to be chasing a traders brigg sailed by Lord Nelson himsef, truth is. We were graping the deck, untill the brigg was turning away. So me commands me crew to load ballshot. We fired a broadside while she bears aiming for the rigging, but the shots has to be to low and hit the aft of said brigg, little we know about the fatal damages that one round did. Shortly after that shot we took pace and running down the wind we were able to catch up with the limping brigg .Alredy listing to one side and her deck taking water, she sunk before we catch her. Suddenly "MAN OF WARrr" me mate in the crowsnest yelled. Me timbers, it was the Royal Navy lead by Damian, 3 ships it had to be, 2 of them were Mercury Briggs, and the 3rd a Rattlesnake Corvette. We were instantly setting sails and brining the island of Pedro Cay between us and them however they alredy saw us and started the chase, But meh Cockcoo was faster in this daring escape we were running into a Royal Navy fleet of severel Schips of the line, zooming and booming between them we were able to block the chasing Briggs and Corvettes, by their own fleet, before the Commander of the lineship knew what happend we were alredy out of their range of their bowchasers and escaped.
  4. you can clean up the weatherdeck on some of the "Metaships" like trink then shes heel towards you, a good salvo of grape will result of something around 80 crewkills
  5. intresting but very subjective, usually Grape on full amor can only kill crew on the weatherdeck and behind the gunpors, you can infact hide and navigate your ship to keep the grape loss at bay. also ballshots are smometimes more effective to kill crew then grape, like ballracking a bellona with a small ship is more effective then graping it. on the otherhand, onedeck ships, like niagara, the cutter and privateer, can be decrewd in one salvo of grabe by a similer sized oponent. But the privateer is a front and aft rigged ship and can easily escape after such hit, cutter too, niagara can use its carronades before getting into grape range. Grape range, compared to ball is very short and on longer distances fairly ineffective, however ive had severel occasion where my deck was sniped with grape, thats skill not a broken mechanic. Is grape an allrounder ship killer, No if grape is effecteve depends, on the ship you shoot at, and the ship you sit in. You have a greater chance of cleanin the weatherdeck of a enemyship if your guns are in a higher position, and the enemy has an armend weatherdeck. some frigates are fairly sensible about grape, the Cherubin for excample is easy to get graped, but requires a small crew to be effective in battel. Grape is a varible ammo if you know how to use it, but if the enemy knows how to keep away of you, like chaining your sails, then you will loose the fight then you only use grape. Conclution, use the right ammo for the right ship and situation and you will win.
  6. you know there are also the devs of crusader kings 2 involved then their game gone steam? Steam is a great gamingplatform and i know my games are save, because i live in germany, steam canot just do what it want, it canot just delete your acount, you can give back any game in 14 days(germany and certain other countries) because steam needs also to follow certain laws. Steam is not hand of God
  7. Shortly after getting stranded we meat up with mah mate Donnershock, who was chasing down a suprise in a Rattlesnake. The Suprise was comanded by a Slutty Parrot, and she sailed like a Parrot sails that ship. We simply kept exploiting the incompetence then the Suprise sailed into the wind and ended up in irons, "Ballshot" i ordered. The carronades are loaded, just need to get a bit closer to her rear, suddenly a volley of grape hits my deck and took out a handful of sailers, blood and guts covered the planks where just a moment my crew was standing. In htat chaos i ordered my crew to fire the carronades on the mast, they spit fire and smoke, and the timer flew on my deck, the fore and middlemast got ripped apart and came down in one salvo. "Grape the shit out of that crapsack"meh said "sail through the wind to starboard" Meh said and the Cockcoo sailed through the wind turned and presented her loaded grape towards the big juice rear of the Suprise, wich was still in irons. "Fire then she bears" i yelled and the carronades roars, the grape shatters timber and glass and seaman the same. The crew prepared for boarding, we smacket our ships in theirs. Hooks flew into the air and hitting the railing locked the ship in position, we were boarding. The deck was a mess after the atilery attacks, blood guts and seamen disabled to fight were lying everywhere on the weatherdeck, the enemycrew wasnt prepered for the boarding at all, meh and my men were charging on the remaining crew. It was a slaughter, the enmy wasnt able to put up any defense and surrendered fast after our attack, the ship was ours. Thx for the ship Salty Parrot
  8. Meh and meh crew spotted a Privateer comanded by Ensign Cpt Feron, we were trading shots and using both of our best wind, then after some grapes meh mean should prepared for boarding, we crashed into the enmy. However this crash resulted into a capsize, her rail hit mine and took me with her into the deep
  9. 26.09.1716 Sailing Niagara, the Cuckcoo Today meh crew adn meh self are putting up an ambush around Pedro Cay south of Jamaika, in the teabag area, while meh crew was able to drag some lynx traders in a gunfight they wer able to escape. However after our 3rd attack on a trader we finaly got her pinned down a Traders Snow, but with a Corvette as escort. Commanded by Rear Admiral Gromitsan. The Boarding proved difficult since Rear Admiral Gromitsan knew how to handly his ship, so i need to decide to sink her. I commanded the firing officer to load ball and fire then she bears. Then she showed us her broadside, "Fire" I yelled, and the 32pdr Carronades spir smoke and fire, timber flew around then the shot hit home, the pieces of debriss were as big as my head i tell ya. After the smoke settled we could see the damage, it was fatal. Pieces as big as a cow were removed of her side and she list to one side slowly capsizing and hten disapears, the sailors who surived, were flowing around together with debriss, holding themself over the water, with help of barrels nad other flowing junk. But there was another ship on us, a Rattlesnake comanded by a lower officer, we needed to escape. She fired with her chasers into our sails. i turned the rudder for a Beamreach curse to escape that Corvette. She turns her Broadside towards our stern and fires a volley, but luckely this teadrinkers has a aim like my grandma after a galleon of whiskey and the volley clearly missed our ship. We were gaining distance, whil the corvette tuned aid the sailors of the sunken snow. After that engagement ive found a Cutter with a Ensign as her Captain, Meh Crew and mehself were giving him a little toturial about fighting in pvp1. then we wanted to leave he surrenderd
  10. simply thing if oyu attack an enemy ship , you can offer him a free path for his goods, then trade goods with him in the instance and let him pass.
  11. 24th of september 1716 after a fatal defeat severel months ago ive lost my crew and ship, now i aquired a new ship and a new crew. The ship carries the name "Owl" and is a sloop of war. Lets go for a new hunt shall we. today catches, Jamaika south cost: Kontrast a British 1st lieutnannt on a le gros ventre, sadly that that guy was empty, The fight took quite awile, meh ship was keeping her rear, shooting sails and get rid of her crew. until she was ready for boarding cause she was stuck in deadwin Evil cap " Brigg " fairly fast battel, 2 salvos grape over her deck reducing the crew into a mashed red mass, after that 2 salvos into the rigging and a mast went down, th enmy crew were surendering shortly after boarding unknown unknown T.Brigg " surrendered after seveerel shots into the rigging. " " " " Surrendered after loosing a mast Had severel engagements with the "Coast Guard" but could mostimes but you know then the game mechanic pushes rattels directly beside you while you had a defence tag on a renomee, its bullshit, also BR diffrence only protects bigger ships Ships that gets into a fight should be bounded by the position of the first ships in battel, if oyu joined my side you would be pushed to me, then you would have joined the side of the renomee you would have joined beside that one
  12. i think we are lacking in ship decorations and swapable figureheads so my suggestion is to add that stuff woah that is a 2 line suggestion XD
  13. dont want pyrates want to force the enmy to surrender? ive gained a total of 12 buccacentaure that way.
  14. yes yes, pirates need new toys, i mean privateers <.< >.>
  15. Gank comes from older MMORPGs with PVP, and means Gangbang Kill, you need a overwhelming force of players to Gank a single one. 2vs1 isnt a gank, but 3 vs1 is there it starts, of corse it depends on the shipclass
  16. i havent come across any historic painting that shows tanned sails on big square rigged ships, but in the era of the Barqes there are alot of tanned ships. probelly because the big square rigged ships in that era were in the hands of private traders, these Barqes got very popular in the secound half of the 19th hundred, (1850 +)
  17. 1st one is from black flag, and these are just excempel how these sails would look like , i think bigger ships would also work with this. But since the bigger ships Military or Traders were mostly owned bynation you usually dont see tanned sails. These ships wer most likly to encounter combat and thos it woulg have been cheaper replace the untanned sails, instead of tanning the sails
  18. here some more tanbark sails also please consider everyone of us is a Privateer, we buy our own ships so we should be able to decide if we want tanbark or not on our sails
