  1. 1- I know that the timers affect us in the USA and Aussie's the most. I rarely am able to be on during PB's even our own. 2- I can see that not giving the attackers something out of the win more than a full fleet in the port battle, does seem a little lacking. and would need some rethinking. It is just that in the current screening, it is mostly about the attackers getting in as well. The defenders are able to just jump in without a problem. 3- The Victory Points Do sound interesting. This could lead to some really cool mechanics. 4- in my original post one other thing would really like to see is a change to only a couple ships having PB value, I would really like to see almost all classes of ships have a place in the conquest system at one level or another. the way it currently works it is mostly just L'oceans and Aggies that are wanted. An game posts last night had the idea of more rings farther apart to make 5th rates valuable in these battles. this might work as well. the game has so many cool ships it is sad to see it boil down to a couple viable ships.
  2. 1- Jonny Reb, I agree that the timers have many if not more issues, Maybe the times should last for several hours and that time is set by a nation vote for all there ports, that lasts for at time similar to the way alliances work. b- Maybe I didn't express it right, but the way I was thinking is that the attackers would have to be present and have a show of force or the defenders would just cause more damage then the attackers, this would make is so that the attackers would then loose spots in there port fleet. The damage could be caused to AI or PVP. it would just be that PVP would have twice the value.

Proposal for possible changes to port battles, and screening. 1- Starting hostility for ports could works as it currently does. 2- The nation that controls the port sets the possible attack window, maybe a 2 hour window of a 24hr day. This leave the owner of the port best able to defend and make the attackers pick and choose if they wish to attach at that time or not. edit: 2- the attack window could be for all national ports and could would be set by a national vote similar to the way alliances work, they could also have a duration of several hours. 3- Once a port battle is opened it is auto set to begin 48 hrs + the time needed to land within the window allowed above. 4- During these 48 hours is when “screening” takes place. Each side works on destroy player ships worth 2xBR and AI ships worth 1xBR in an attempt to do more damage than the enemy. 5- The defenders always are allowed to have a full fleet in the battle, but they must be in that port to enter the loading screen. 6- The Attackers will have 25, minus one ship spot for every 10,000 BR (#4from above) that they are below the damage of the defenders (numbers are just ideas). Edit: sense the screening damage can be done to AI as well as in PVP (PVP is worth more). The attackers would have to show up in force or the defenders would just reduce the number of ships that the attackers could have in the port battle. 7- The port battles would start with the defenders in a load screen from the defending port and the attackers from the nearest Designated Freeport. 8- To help add more fun for more players as the server grows to larger numbers, they could make is so that if both sides have screening BR damage above say 50,000, then a second port in the county opens for battle, at the same time as the main port. This battle would be one rank lower, so if the main battle was 1st rate then the second would be 2nd rate.. If there was 100,000 BR destroyed then maybe two ports etc. For a winning country would have to win the majority of these battles to gain control of the county. Tie would go to the defenders. The reason I would have it so that both country have to have high damage is so that a small country that could not support two or more battles at once, would not have too, they just would not screen and only defend the port at assault time. 9- Also It would be cool to make port battles so that a first rate port battles would have, a max of 30% 1st rates, 30% 2nd rates, and 40% 3rd rates. The extra port battles would be a step down with 2nds, 3rds and 4ths etc. This would make more of the ships useful in the conquest part of the game. These are just a few thoughts, some of these ideas I know have already have been talked about, such as the defenders set times.

  5. I just checked again, I seem to be able to log in on the USA servers but not the EU ones. I am also getting 1909 as the number of players on line for EU PVP 1 server. The European Logging servers seem to be having issues.

  7. Just submitted an application! Here's to having more time to play in the future and many more large sea battles.
  8. With the new haze it seems that you have to be a lot closer to the port to read the name. when I am sailing up to a port, it is almost always the port I thought, but having to get so close to read it doesn't seem right ether.
  9. I would also like to be able to click on a port to get it name from a distance. As for the fog, when this new update to OW first launched it was foggy almost constantly, I think they did a fix on this, because sense then it has been quite nice with lots of days being mostly clear. Praters log is close to what my guess would have been for last few days.
  10. The Last Hoorah, one more fun Trafalgar before the wipe completed. A couple observations from the first battle today. - De-masting is still very strong, maybe too strong. - Game play with boarding is much better then it was, but it is now way too powerful, with very little danger or loss for the ship with the most crew, say a Santi vs Vic. they start out with a 20% crew advantage and almost guaranties the out come. during sea trials, the battle had some boarding, and sometimes masts were shot off, but the main tactic was sailing and shooting the enemies ships. This led to much more involved and more enjoyable battles in my opinion. I do like the new boarding system. I just think that Crew XP should be developed in the game, so that risking loosing so much of you crew in a 1000 vs 850 battle will not be worth it, even if you win. I would be nice to see things like Grapeshot to reduce the enemies crew before boarding and especially regular battle damage to ships become important in the battle outcome. I am really looking forward to some of the new changes after the wipe, and new Trafalgar battle to come.

  12. I like the idea of interesting and different ships for each nation. Most of the nations should have SOL options. Even the USA with its relatively small fleet size for the time, had SOL's during this time period such as the Independence Class and Delaware Class, both classes have ships from 1820's and earlier I believe.
  13. During first battle I sunk as well ( I survived the second battle with the use of 5 repairs ), Lost a durability on my best ship a Connie. It was great fun, and I am looking forward to many more in the future.
  14. this would seem to make the Belle Poule, the better ship, as it has the larger BR and more armor with no negatives other than the difference in bow vs stern chasers.
  15. I think that if you have an outpost at a port that is taken from your nation, your ships should be moved to the nearest neutral or nation port. The cost would be too high if the ships were lost. Example: Say I have two captured ships and two purchased ships (full durability) at said port. I happen to go on vacation and I am gone for a week, or just happen to be sailing a trade ship on the other side of the Ocean while port battle is going on(too far to sail there in time). When I get back from vacation and find all of my ships are lost (most players would quite) as this would not make for good game design. The design should not be a system were players are punished for not being on all the time and there luck as to if they will have their ships when they log-in is in the hands of other players.
  16. My friend said it was Godzilla when it is tipped upright. as kids we use to always see things in the clouds. I think they have done a very good job of the Clouds in general. They move and change position relative to each other etc. I would like to see the stars move and be a true sample of the night sky for that general latitude. I don't think it needs to move accurately, just each night the starts shift a little and circle the north star.
  17. I have been sailing for three days straight without seeing a single candidate for attaching(all in ether a lot smaller ship or in a much larger fleet). So I have been making do with only AI battles. I have been sailing in areas that should be high PVP zones for most of that time as well. It could just be the time of day that I have to play but with the vast open sea and all of the areas away from Capital ports, There are lots of areas to sail with very little worry of being attached by another player.
  18. When entering battle against an enemy be sure to notice what else is around you. The Pirate may have been alone, but other friend pirates could have been close and joined in the fight.
  19. I was teleported following a battle as well. I started the battle just out side of Port Jeremie, after exiting the battle found myself outside the port of Plymouth. A couple hours later my friend had it happen to him as well. He entered battle in the north Bahamas and existed battle about 250nm south, He also noticed that he had lost all of the tabs (nation, help, global) in the chat box. He could not add them back and had to log out to get them to reset.
  20. I just had this same issue. I was testing my captured Renommee and entered a battle within sight of port Jereme. When I exited the battle, I was near Plymouth, LOL, I was going to head that way anyways, but the teleporting is a problem.
  21. I think that it would work to have it so that if you are in a port where you have an outpost you can select to transfer to a new outpost when you long off. Character only moves, ship does not move. This could be on a timer so that it was a minimum of 30 minutes or something before your move would be completed. If you log back in before then, you would still be in the original port. This would work well when they start the Economy and you want to run trader ships etc. and with the timer, it would be hard to exploit your movement for battle purposes.
  22. I don't remember hearing any dings and the snow did not look to be on fire, as I was in aiming mode I could have been on fire, and just not seen it. It still feels a little weird to be just booted from the fight and not have it show my damaged ship sink or something, letting me leave the battle. It would be nice, if I could have been able to use a durability to repair, it would have been less painful. If it was a fire, is there a way to combat it? I will have to check (I moved the modules to my lynx), but I believe I had fire buckets on this ship.
  23. Last night I was in a battle with my newly purchased Navy Brig vs as Snow. Less then 2 min into the battle and with over 75% armor on both sides The snow fired and I was immediately sent to the end off battle screen (it did not show me sinking or any of the normal things that happen at the end of battles) which showed 0% on everything thing except for the crew which was shown to be at 48% I think, It listed 80ish XP and 325 gold, but that I had lost the fight. This then ported me to the nearest port were having only 1100 Gold I could not repair my fully damaged ship which still had 4 durability left. I had no choice but to sell it and buy a basic lynx in order to sail from the port. Has anyone else experienced this kind of crash from battle?
