  1. I don't feel that the current system is that broken. We should not look at the number of crew shown in the battle as those that are alive. There are many things during a battle that would take away from the crews ability to fight, like keeping the ship afloat, attending to critically wounded etc. once the battle is over and things are stabilized most of these men would be able to return to standard work. if during a battle only 10% are really killed or too hurt to return to duty that wouldn't be bad, and over time depending our how good your surgeon is this number could return to 100% good for duty, or at least 95%. With the 95% idea over time if you do not return to port to get more crew, you would end up with less crew.
  2. nice map. from what I have personally seen from sailing alone the gulf coast to New Orleans and also along parts of South America, as well as from your map. The Spanish will have no problems finding friendly ports. LOL
  3. I think it would be nice if maps worked something like this. - first, I really like the feeling to first discovery, so I am not sure I would like having maps for sail. So far I have not been really lost and was able to find my location within an hour or so. - second, we can all use google maps but it would be nice if in game your personal map would be slowly generated as you discover an area. only adding to your map the area that you be see. This would make it so that if I sail south and run into a large island just north of South America, my map might only show a small coastline until I sail around it, If I don't sail around it then I will not know for sure if it is an island or the Coast Venezuela. - third, navigators of the time could get a fairly accurate Latitude, and would have an idea of there longitude. I would like to see the ability to check for Latitude at night and have it be accurate to within say 1 or 2 deg. For longitude I think we could have something like this. when you leave a known port you have an accurate Longitude and for each day of in game at sea sailing you loose maybe one degree of accuracy so the number you get after 12 days at sea could be up to 12 degrees off. you could max this as something like 15 degrees or something. In real life they would try to log there speed and direction to keep a somewhat accurate number. These are just a few of my thoughts on maps and navigation.
  4. bug found at the end of battle: I finished defeating a Cutter with my lynx, still had 2 armor port side, and 3 armor on the starboard and full rear armor. was in survival but showed no water. When the battle ended it jumped to end battle screen (did not wait for me to leave) and my ship had 0's on every spec's and was ported to the nearest neutral port. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this. NOTE: Really glad to be back in and testing. Having a great time.
  5. I agree that a map that auto shows your position and movement would be bad.
  6. I like the Idea of having a map table that has maps/charts that show what you have explored. Think it would be cool if you could overlay temporarily your estimated bearing/speed/time etc. When you find a new island it would be accurately placed on the map. This would help you to compare where you thought you were to where you really are. I think this would help teach us to navigate and more accurately plot our next voyage. I don't think this would take away from the ability to get lost and would add to the over all feeling not detract from it.
