Year is ending, yet we got 0.5 core

Plus damaged equipment and electricals should also play a part. lots of things that are missing, that should be implemented into the game at some point.

I would be happy with how RTW2 handles it (which is realistic), the problem right now is we have neither. RTW's victory doesn't count on sinking all or X percentage of ships like we have here either. For reference I'm not talking about the campaign (which we can only make assumptions about anyway), but the game as is playable today. The directional messages won't help if the fleeing ship is faster, just reinforce how you will have "lost" the battle because the AI decided to make a straight line away from you until the timer expires. Not really engaging gameplay is it? But I agree I it should be got rid of once other updates are made.

personally I would love to some soft RPG elements where you have option to skill your admirals, captains or officers. Or different archtypes. One engineer given you more speed another better damage control ect.

crew efficiency should not only depend on the crew itself. if they got forced out of a compartment by water then they should not be able to perform thier duties

2 problems here. AI seems to be focusing VERY heavily on large caliber secondary guns, nearly every enemy capital unit I see has 8" secondary guns. This, coupled with the increased fire damage is resulting in many battles between capital ships being decided by who has the better secondary battery, rather than the main battery. Armor doesn't seem to help much with this issue, because with the current way armor weight works, on most hulls you have to chose between protection between large caliber guns with an all or nothing armor scheme, or protecting against smaller guns with a comprehensive armor scheme. I'm fine with Kriegsmarine BB's having an impressive suite of secondaries, but when even the Brits are mounting an entire heavy cruiser on the side of their BB's, we've got a problem.

Closing to q4 of the year, and from the 'promised' 4 major updates in January, not even the first landed. Curious, when will we be able to see something wort mentioning...

I very, very much disagree with this, and advocate for the biggest caliber you can fit for a few reasons: (1) Bigger calibers have much better range, meaning you can completely crowd out smaller ships' armaments (especially noting DDs which are limited to 5in guns, and an 8in gun could potentially kill a DD without ever giving it a chance to fire). This matters in the late-game as well because of it is much better to not let torpedo-carrying ships to get close as they get faster and more deadly (with more range as well). (2) As a part of their better range, they have much better accuracy at the range that lower calibers just start firing, and much better accuracy at any range compared to smaller calibers. Again, it means you can do meaningful damages much sooner/much more often than smaller calibers. (3) When they do start hitting, they'll cause much more damage, much more quickly. You'll quite easily erase the structure durability of smaller ships. Though, yes, you'll struggle in flooding damage to a degree, unlike the multiple hits of a smaller caliber, more gun battery. (4) Finally, your point of overpens... doesn't make sense, to put it as kindly as I can. All guns start at 0 inches of pen at 0 percent accuracy. Yes, there is a band where you'll get full damage, and a band where you'll overpen. Yes, that damage will curve up much higher (Y-axis). But the fact that a bigger caliber is spread over a greater range (X-axis) means you'll have a bigger or at the very least similar band of effectiveness against a certain armor value at variable ranges. Also, HE characteristics toss this straight out the window. Reference Evil4Zerggin's guide below. HE only has 25% penetration. Unless you're at point blank range with main-gun caliber guns, that modifier will make it near-impossible to get overpens. Even 10 inches will reduce down to 2.5 inches, of which (calculations in the same thread below) only below 0.04 in armor will allow for overpens. Mind you, that is only a hair above 1mm, and quite literally impossible to set if you're using inches in game measurement. Finally... even if you overpen, it still does roughly 35% damage. An 8in shell will still out damage smaller shells.

The range on 8" guns is about 15-16km, which, for the mid 1920's when I'm fighting this battle, is still considered "medium range" for most big guns. Generally, that'd be about where you can start reliably hitting each salvo, so you'd want to be in that range. With the equipment I had to hand, I'd like to be between 13 and 16 km away from the enemy, but that's well within the range of an 8" gun. It's kinda frustrating when the enemy can keep you at a range where you can't reliably hit them with your main weapons, with what is supposed to be their close range backup weapons. 8" guns on a BB can't really be considered a close range backup weapon.

I think once campaigns limit what you can do resource wise we will see less star destroyer ships.

It's one thing for the AI to disengage when there is a point to it (i.e. try to make it to a retreat zone to leave the battle), but there is no point to retreating in the current win conditions. It's also would be fine if the AI retreated to repair and re-engage at a better range, but it doesn't do that either in most cases electing to simply sail away in one direction for all eternity. You see it as a way to increase difficulty, I see it as an exercise in madness. You have seen the AI sail in circles when it knows it can't outrun you right? It can have a destroyed rudder/engines but still be able to keep its stern on to you, and therefore limit the chance of taking enough damage to sink. That's not "improving difficulty", that's pure fantasy due to poor game mechanics. Retreating should be an option, but it should also mean forfeiting the battle. These "sink ships only" victory condition belong in an arcade, not a game with this aim and scope.

Sorry guys, I disappeared from this forum for a long time. I had a rough and bad month. I failed on the exams with my entire class, because we got tasks we never seen before and we never learned in the class. So we have to repeat the exams and try again. Sadly, I couldn't try the new stuffs in this update.
