Sailing from Fort Royal on the 12 gun cutter L'Albatros, we spotted a battle not far out of the harbor. Joining battle, we found 6 of our comrades in cutters battling against a British Trader Brig, Brig, and a Cutter. Other comrades joined shortly after to assist.
Sighting the Trader's Brig attempting to escape the battle, we gave chase. Another of our comrades drew his cutter alongside the Trader's Brig, but he moved to close and the Tra

Took on an enterprise to purchase 50 bales of American Cotton, I have been offered the price of 500 per unit for a total of 25k. So I’ll take a fast ship for this journey.

First Lieutenant Grosse in his Majesties Vessel the Navy Brig with 22 guns Unfortunately, the success of the British fleet of ridding the Caribbean of pirates has not advanced as quickly as we have planned. There have been too many distractions caused by battles with vessels from other nations that we were sadly lacking behind our promise to the King of England. In this respect, the incident that has happened today to all British Officers in the Caribbean waters was to be expected. We were all d
Leaving my favorite harbor, I was messaged by Captain Charles Maxwell that he had ended up in an unexplored portion of the Caribbean. He sent through a few port names and the officers in our port were able to quickly identify where he was. With his vessel just north of Haiti and mine just south of Haiti, we decided to round up a pair of fellow officers and form a fleet. The fleet would meet up on the Eastern side of the Dominican Republic. With about seven interested British officers, we coordi
Having slept in a little longer than usual, my good servant Diener woke me to the smell of smoked ham, toast with jelly and a good English tea. After a refreshing breakfast, I read through the morning reports to realize the Danes and the Pirates were back in front of the entrance of our harbor. Sending a few officers to check the status of other British ships in port, they returned with a disappointing low number of ready and able vessels. Among the ready, Captain Charles Maxwell was there and w
As Master and Commander, t is so much more satisfying to sail a Surprise with a full compliment of men (240) , than as a Lieutenant (only 150). Since, being promoted and receiving a full crew I have mastered the art of turning a ship through the wind (tacking) without much problems. That alone makes me very happy. The success on the seas has been even greater. With a full crew, I no longer worry about brigs. I can lay next to them and board. They have half the crew as my surprise and are an easy

Lieutenant Grosse in His Majesties Vessel the Surprise, 38 guns. Receiving orders from the Admiralty, I was sent on a mission to explore the regions north of Cuba. Lieutenant Grosse in His Majesties Vessel the Surprise, 38 guns. Together with Captain Maxwell and Commodore Magnum we waited outside a neutral port for other British vessels in route. It was magnificent when the other officers Woodes Rogers, Trina, Sir Sinkalot, and Palo Esteehause joined up with us to create the Fleet. All were in frigates, or surprise except for the Commodore in his 74. We headed north as a group and quickly had to change course due to the wind in order to make way. Adjusting

Hi all, yesterday was my first ever exposure to Beta testing an OMPG. It was generally good.
Been gaming (off and on) since we had to build our own computers from parts and write our own code (1978 or so)
1st game was my own version of "Lunar Lander" writen in IBM Assembler, running on an IBM 370 VM.
Also in ancient times contributed code to "SCRAPS" ("Space Cadets Rapine and Plunder Simulator")

It has been busy, but irl. Entire household had come down with a "bug". That's a week best forgotten
But, over the preceeding weekend, I did have the opportunity to duel. Alas, results are consistent:
0 / 7 versus Doran. No real progress or highlights, though we did discuss lots and I recorded some. His tricks are ever evolving, and had added a volley or 2 of bar, and of grape... With the intentions of honing the art of ship capture for open world. It seems I'm the ideal kind of target.
As noted previously, there has been a treatise on Naval Action compiled by Mr. Doran, edited by Mr. Balck. You can find the link HERE, and a dropbox account HERE for download. As I believe my gaming time offsets a bit with Mr. Doran, I'll instead look at the Treatise mid week in anticipation of the weekend.

I fought Mr. Doran 3 times this weekend. All in Trincomales.
Battle #1:
Loss. I gave up wind immediately. Was stern raked. Battle essentially went like this....I'd rake nose, he'd rake stern. The crew loss differential was pronounced... Mr Doran was very effective. No repairs used by Mr.D.
Battle #2:
Loss. I did better in the start. Took wind, and for maybe 3 passes, kept it. However, his counter maneuvers ensured I did not take stern. We essentially went broadside to broadside. H
Intent is to capture my progress with duels. at this juncture, there is really only 1 opponent to fight regularly...however, he would also be consider "the" opponent. None other than Mr. Doran.
