- Lynx - Based on USS Lynx (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Lynx_%281814%29)

- Cutter - (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutter_%28boat%29)

- Brig - (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brig)

- Snow - Based on HMS Ontario (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Ontario_%281780%29)

- Surprise - Based on HMS Surprise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Surprise_%281796%29)

- Trinconmalee - Based on HMS Trinconmalee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Trincomalee)

- Constitution - Based on USS Constitution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Constitution)

- Bellona - Based on HMS Bellona (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Bellona_%281760%29)

- Victory - Based on HMS Victory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Victory)

- Santissima Trinidad - Based on Santissima Trinidad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_ship_Nuestra_Se%C3%B1ora_de_la_Sant%C3%ADsima_Trinidad) ??

... just figured it would be nice to share, and read up on the history of the ships we are fighting with :-)

Cutter, Brig - it's types of ships

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brig

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutter_(boat)

Schooner "Lynx" is a real ship

Thx for info Are you sure brig is based on:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brig

.... and not:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brigantine

I get that the difference is in the rigging, but the Brig ingame to me at least looks more like Brigantine.

I blame my noob eyes for not seeing the difference :P

Great, thx for clarification :-)

BTW, will there in some future release gun recoil be implemented in the game (just from graphical perspective).

I am thinking it would be cool when firing broadsides to see guns recoil a little bit into the ships hull, and as reload progresses that guns are ran out again ?

Not sure how taxing that would be to the graphics though

Cannon recoil was implemented in very early builds but it was drawing a ton of FPS. Animations cost processing power and due to more important things they had on their scedule they kept the guns stationary.

Devs said they dont know if this feature will ever come back. That said there is a chance we may get animations on gun recoil. Not anytime soon.

In that case, it is better that it is out. FPS is very impressive for the game this early in alpha.

Yesterday in Trafalgar (roughly 30 ships), my FPS was at around 50-70 FPS @1920x1200 (45-50 while recording in FRAPS on GTX 780) max detail, which was very impressive given the look and detail of the ships, so I fully support their decision :-)

It would be nice if extra things like crew, gun recoil, etc, had the option of being turned off and on instead of all on or off. That could perhaps help fps? Those who have the powerhouses can have them while those of us without can turn them off.

I am having a problem with steering after today new patch, It will not return to center automatically after holding down the port or starboard key and releasing it.  Double tap works ok.  I deleted the game and reinstall it, but it still will not work.  Please help.

uniiy is easier for fast development and honestly at the moment we dont need to ,,never touch a running system,,

You don't like simulators? Or you don't like the yacht watch style of the interface?

Hm.. I am in a situation where I have to say 2 things and one of them will make me look bad but I can't say one without saying the other... quite difficult uh?

Well, I don't like simulators, but not all simulator, only those really complicated with HUD full of stuff and I don't consider them games as they are not funny to play but they are useful to certain purposes. Instead, I consider Naval Action a very good game because it's funny to play, it's multiplayer, it will be open world and will feature a lot of customization (at least from what I've heard) and that interface while driving ( I don't think it's the correct term but I'm sorry it's not my main language as you probably noticed already :P )  looks, at least from some videos, like the interface of a simulator. Probably it's just my taste?

Or maybe it's just those green/red circles in the middle of the screen which I don't like as they are a bit annoying in that position?

Well, this is my opinion so don't take it bad or as a critic, sorry for bothering you. :)

The hud is already changed : just buy the game there is no more red and green circles anymore and nothing in the middle of the screen.

Hello, new sailor here...  S!   A few questions...

1)  It would be really great if 'aim-view' was down a gunsite of a cannon barrel instead of the abstract view with a red bar to indicate elevation and white lines on waves.

Maybe this has been suggested, there are simply too many posts for a newbie to read...

2)  Is there any support planned for TrackIR?  It would make looking around for situational awareness much easier rather than mousing the pan view.

3)  I belong to a gaming group/squad called Syndicate http://www.syndicatesquadron.org/index.php  Some of you may have heard of us or frequented our Rise of Flight or Battle of Stalingrad servers.

Will private servers (open to public or not) be able to run Naval Action?  Or is the developer vision to host only one 'world server'?

If so, I hope there will be no subscription fees to this server.

Thank you, can't wait for the paypal issue to be resolved...

I would also like private servers if only for the option in years to come if the game stops support. I hate it when online games die because they are tied to the master server. Not that this will die. But I like it and want to play it for 10yrs from now no matter what happens.

When aiming down the gun you will see the horizon bouncing up and down. The gunnery system we have is gyrostabilized. The guns always aim at the range you point the red bar. (note thta I say range not elevation)

Its been suggested bevore what u ask.

There is no fee about to come. ever. Thats what the devs clarified.

Microtransactions for lets say cosmetical stuff can happen.

Since a LOT of the calculations on the game are server based I highly doubt there will be private servers while gamelabs is running NavalAction.

When Naval Action advances trough it's stages(alfa, beta, etc) Will it become available/Free for all players?

Naval action is always going to cost you some money to get the game. Once you have it you never have to pay again.

Its not a free to play title.

If you order it within the sea trials you will be garanteed the cheapest price since devs said the cost will not go down but very likely go up with the ammount of added features.
