Special and named mobs

In pretty much every game like this there are different kinds of mobs with different values. Other than ship size and captain rank we have nothing special.

Why dont we have " named mobs" that are famous historical or fictional characters and who fight better or uniquely but offer better or special drops.

They could have drops from gear to paint to government officials who are worth money if delivered etc. What about treasure maps that work like ship wrecks only you go to a land mass.

So much effort is going into micromanaging and changing tiny things in combat but there is nothing that incentivizes us to acually go fight other than port battles after we hit max level.

What if certain special ships had unique paint,names,built in skill etc if you capture it?

There hasn't been much mention of plans of an endgame other than port battles. No land or town ownership no special mobs or missions etc. Since pretty much everone seems to be content with sitting in port ALL day until thier port battles Start making it hard for those of us hunting ships to find anything to do.

We already have pretty much enough PvE content. That said, we are testing an alpha game. The important things to get right now apart from the larger picture conquest mechanics and faction mechanics are the big and tiny alike adjustments to combat. End game content should be added after, and close to release. Probably we will get some surprising new content at release to give veterans as well something new to try out after release. 

 

Also, if you read the development schedule something has been added about trade/transport missions, so we might get some of that new content you ask for next patch already.

The problem isnt having enough pve its about having interesting pve. Me personally hate pve but like i mentioned nothing short of a miracle will get people to leave the damn port so those of us not interested in port battles ( pirates and privateer ) need something to do that is interesting.

I have never done a EPIC event other than accidently being in one back in my basic cutter days as I thought it was my mission, but this is what I thought they would be more like.  Some sprecial fleet you grind once in a while that gives you some great treasure.   

 

TREASURE FLEETS   need to be added but we need to have a trade system in battle screen.  That way you can have some one bring a trader ship in the group and you can defeat the escorts and than take the traders/treasure ships and transfer all the rewards to your own ship.  This would be a good way to give out HE mods again.  Make folks actuall earn them instead of some random drop.  Yes I know PvP guys will complain, but that is why you put the same system into Port Battles or Big PvP fights where you get a better random drop of Mods other than grey/green and the rare blue. I have never gotten a Master Craft drop and all my Gold until the other day was from bottles....oh wait that was in a bottle too....yep I got a gold in a bottle for once that about suprised me. I have never got any from traders, but seems folks do a lot...I think RNG just hates me in that case.

 

EPIC EVENTS FLEETS coupld of been a good way to do those events so even the PvE guys ccould have fun.  Make it where you have to fight the fleets, but for us PvP guys we can join what side we want or even be on two diffrent sides.  Say Brit and Pirates hit a EPIC EVENT FLEET and Brits are going to side with the FLEET cause it's a Brit fleet.  They get a reward at the end of the battle for how many fleet ships they keep alive (maybe go by the treasure ships not the NPC's escorts).  Well the Pirates get a reward for how many they sink.   Both sides get the normal  reward for combat on top of that too.   Though this reward can be in a box like the deadman chest at the end of the battle for the winning team.  

 

Special Named ships.....wish there was a marker to let you know the diffrence from a player ship and an AI other than clan tags.  You don't even want to know how prod I was to sink Blood in small battles thinking I sunk my first PC ever to only be told he was an AI.    Though in some of the open world it would be coold if we had some random named ships out there. Make them Pirates wanted by your natiosn.  Famous Pirate hunters teh Pirates hate.  you take them on and if you beat his fleet you get a special reward (paints would be great here).    They can be scaled for diffrent BR's so you can only go in to them with that BR or lower.

Ok, we have a lot, I agree. And you stated 'we already have pretty much enough PvE content'.

Who is 'we'? Are you included? Are you a PvE player? Your signature somehow leaves the impression to me, that you are a dedicated PvP player. I see why you have enough PvE content since you don't use it. Maybe the offered options are too rich for you?

 

I start the list of the various PvE content:

  • generic AI fleets
  • generic missions with varying mission goals
  • (...)

 

erm, I somehow ran out of points, could you please enlighten me with what I missed?

Named bots in most games are usually made artificially stronger.

Yes exactly. That's why said they would fight better or have special skill. They would be harder but give special loot or mission drops.

They would need to be random in order to get people to acually leave port to look for them and to keep try hards from spawn camping.
