Reduce Tag timer

As the title say

 

i would see a reduce on the tag timer from 20 till 2 seconds

 

the reason for that if you tag a vessel like the lynx

 after the second  5 seconds it has 15 seconds to evade the tag by turning his bow in the wind witch end up in a to far distance in battle (in tag range ,but out of reach from the guns )

 

"but you made a perfect tag!!"

if you made a perfect tag in his own circle, you must end up in a close correct distant in battle

witch in my opinion at the moment does not represent the " the initial tag"

 

so i would suggest a tag timer reduce from 20 till 2 seconds

 

lets see if the distance problems are over now....

I wouldn't change the tag timer. If you want to catch a traders Lynx bring the right ship (Lynx, privateer)

The perfect tag is a tag that will see you end up right where you want to be after 20 seconds and not one where you are in perfect position the second you click.

Cant really support that. A 2 Sec timer is utter nonsense. The countdown is there to give the attackers and defender a chance to position themselves in the best possible way according to wind and such. without it especially bigger fleets would easily be scattered. Also the advantages of sailprofile and rigging arent really that great on OWM just because it would make sailing a pain in the ass.

 

Imo either have a decent countdown and better sailprofiles on OWM as it is or no timer and realistic profiles like in battles.

Looks like most folks don't read my quotation: "I agree that tagging should be changed to a 0 or very low timer with an enemy ship in your gun arcs.". :D

a lot of people don t read and think at the same time

i totally agree with you ....at some point you can shoot a nail in the mast at 200 meters ,and  5 seconds later it is 3 miles away from your 5 seconds ago

I read it a few times. There are valid concerns towards the suggestion, but I am still unsure what you mean with

well the devs will understand it

But,..Now i am beginning to be unsure about the phenomena:   if you are a follower, of the "A lot of people"

 

i have thought about it ,i am getting concerned and beginning to be unsure about it

In my opinion,  tagging system fit very well the current OS mechanic.

The side which won't fight has enough time to do some unpredictable dodges. In the case when both sides want this fight it doesn't apply.

I don't understand why ppl focus so much on ganking, despite there are enough prospects for FAIR fight. When both sides enjoy it.

well bin on the forum a couple of hours this morning

 

but the more i think about the game the more i think it has a wrong name

 

this game is actually more about and should be called : TIMERS

 

Time to sail, time to craft, time to wait ,time to load,time to jump,time to you name it, ....... well its .........time to exit

In MY opinion, that 20 seconds is one of the best parts of the game. Do I run? Do I try and get the wind? Do I try and angle to a friend? Do I try and turn his nose into the wind? What's his sailing profile? What's MY sailing profile?!

And I need to decide and execute in 20 seconds

Oh, and scan the horizon at the same time.

So so so much of this.

 

Half the raids are won in the OW by a fair margin. Especially with in-shore wind traps.

But that cat & mouse game doesn't really change with having a gun arcs tag, or does it?
