  1. Hopefully the developers will chime in on this. I do hope for the ability to choose the color scheme for my ships to make them my own. Using your idea of realistic pigments of the era would be a way to moderate the game and keep it true to it's original vision while allowing for personalization.
  2. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure we will be able to own multiple ships.
  3. Can't wait to see the Caribbean also. I'm really curious to see how much detail is going to be put into the coastline and the ports as well as any variations in the sea and wild islands. I'm all for immersion so the more detail the better for me anyway. If it takes 30 to 60 mins real time to reach La Grenade from Guadeloupe it will be quite a haul to travel the entire Caribbean. Those of you wanting to experience lengthy voyages should be thrilled with that.
  4. Sounds great! Can't wait to see the open world prototype and the mortars sound interesting.
  5. I think the thought with the smoke is that it's essential for everyone to have the same smoke to assure a level playing field. Since the smoke can obscure vision, at least briefly until it dissipates, it could lead to visual and accuracy advantages over other players. That's why a 'on/off' smoke feature would never work. I would like to see the smoke a little closer to what's in the videos, but the smoke we have now is pretty good. I can live with it and let the focus be on other aspects of the game.
  6. All pre-orders will get access to the testing build when the next patch is released. As the admin has said it's 3-4 weeks until that happens. As far as the actual Early Access, they are still stating late 2014.
  7. If someone offered me and my development team 10 million for a console port you are damn sure i'd take it. I couldn't hold that against anyone. Ultimately, I want to see this game release but continue to grow with new content that has been discussed around the forums. The sailing model, combat, and graphics are great now. I simply want the game to expand and live up to it's ultimate potential on the pc. I play console as well, but for me I want the ultimate online sandbox in which I can battle others and sail the seas.
  8. I'd give up my peg leg for some dynamic weather.
  9. Okay, I had some friends that were interested so that's why I was curious. The increased volume of testers would probably be good for the developers as well. Thanks for the answer.
  10. Just to clarify will everyone who pre-orders be given access to the current build that the testers have access to?
  11. This I may be interested in (thought about it myself at one point). Do you have any particular name in mind or is it up for debate?
  12. Nothing wrong with the smell of a pirate. You must not like rum and wenches
  13. Sounds interesting. Any idea how soon we see the next patch?
  14. I think that there should be a variety of NPC ships with strong AI for those that want it. If done properly it could provide some very fun and challenging battles. I enjoy PvP but occasionally I like to just sail around and attack NPC's granted there is a reason to attack them. This would also help expand the player base to those who want a more casual experience on their own time.
  15. The only issue I see with striking colors is if it means an automatic loss of your ship to the enemy. In real life striking colors is useful to spare the life of the crew but who is going to forfeit a hard-earned ship in the game to save the lives of their digital crew? Not I. It may work if it doesn't always result in a loss of ship but maybe cargo or currency to the winner. I would like to see the chance of fire and a rare explosion implemented.

    Musics

Can't go wrong with headbanging skeletons
  17. I would like the ability to choose the looks of my crew from a preset group of options that are perhaps specific to a certain nation or faction. I'd hate to turn pirate but be forced to sail the seas with scallywags dressed in sweater vests and khakis
  18. I can see now that my choice in music appears to be in stark contrast to everyone else here lol Shanties and Dropkick are okay though
  19. I'm still finishing Black Flag. I've had the game since last November but didn't get around to starting it until June lol. Graphically it's very impressive and the ocean and storms are nice. I do wish the sailing model was more realistic however. I rarely play POTBS anymore though I was a late starter to that game to begin with. Usually not much action when I get on so i'll end up sinking a few fleets with the Terror and log off. I've also been beta testing Archeage. Seems like a decent mmo though I need more time with it. I just wish it didn't have so many fantasy elements and cat people but that seems to appeal to the masses. I do like the fact that you can gather a crew of real players and engage in combat together on the same ship. That is always a unique element to me that makes you feel like a live crew. Sometimes when sailing your own ship it's easy to become distant in your own world. Pirates of the Caribbean online, though geared toward a younger crowd and not very realistic, had that element and it really made sailing enjoyable for everyone in the game. I've only seen a few other games in development that have this feature.
  20. The forums link is now active on the website. The new look is great.
  21. I've grown to enjoy the lumbering beast! However, I would like to see what the other ships can do.
  22. I've recently developed some interest in this as well. I would suggest signing up for a site such as modelshipworld.com and ask there. They could give some insight on good kits for new builders or based on your experience level.
