  1. I decided to kill it...I was finding my own sig annoying:
  2. Well....ok. I can do nothing - that is easy. I am confused though. Lynx, Cutter, Yacht: 1 mast (or yard, if that is the apppropriate term). But where the Privateer has 2, I assume there must be a way to manipulate them to my advantage? No? EDIT, INSTEAD OF A 2nd POST: You are right 2 controllable masts on a Lynx.
  3. OK. Question. Yes, I cannot answer this...as I struggle with the Privateer: Is manual turning different with these masts, given that they swing back and forth on the ship, versus pivoting in the middle?I will figure it out eventually, but someone might be able to cut down on the time required in the learning curve. For clarification, I am headed straight down wind, I would normally push "Q" and "C" to turn hard to the left on a ship like the Tricom... same button sequence? I can hear the responses "Just look at how the wind pushes your sails..." (please post it now). But I R E A L L Y suck at things mechanical in nature and anything that requires spatial relations!!! Heeeeeeeeeeelp!
  4. Once again, thank you. This was obviously a labour of love, and a service to the Naval Action Community.
  5. Thank you good sir! Dually noted.
  6. As the title says. Did this work? Semaphor GIF...
  7. Except that my snow can do an ungodly amount of damage by ramming my bow into your broadside... And that is how it should be It is not the ONLY path to victory... But it might be THE path to Victory...
  8. Ramming - the action - is fine. Ramming - the mechanics - can probably be tweaked (some good observations here). I still want my little TORPEDO to be effective when I ram an SOL...
  9. Lol, it is purely for my own enjoyment. I hope none take offense to its use in this application. I'm dangerous enough to know not enough, but still use it! Even the Crest (coat of arms? I may use the term incorrectly) below in my signature is technically not "correct" but serves my purpose. It belonged to Mary (Stuart), Queen of Scots, Queen Consort of France. (ironically, it was with her coronation that the Auld Alliance was essentially rendered null... But I'd need to do a bit more homework tp confirm that...)
  10. You are correct & correct. If you Google "Jacobite Flower" you will see many variations on this. Knowing my limited photoshop skills, the House of York was the best fit. I qoute below from https://jacobite.wordpress.com/2006/11/06/the-white-rose/ "I had always puzzled over the use of this symbol by Jacobites. I made the suggestion at the CRS Conference a couple of years ago that it might have something to do with the fact that many recusant families were those who had Yorkist sympathies at the time of the Wars of the Roses, such as the Pooles – but this was quite rightly rebuffed. So I wondered if it owed something to the fact that many Jacobites came from Yorkshire (although Lancashire is surely more famous), or to the Exclusion Crisis, when supporters of the Duke of York might have identified themselves with a white rose…but according to Shield and Lang, the symbol derives from the date of the birth of James III, on 10th (24th) June 1688, the longest day of the year ‘when the white rose flowers.’"
  11. Whaaaaa! Well, I look forward to working with your representative. Anyone leading the charge over there yet? I'm jealous, such a fine organization. I'd have sailed for you, but alas I've setup my own gig!
  12. A compilation of 750 matches testing. Very nice, you just saved me 400 hours more sailing (assuming I catch on as fast). May I post this on our Auld Alliance forms? All credit to you will be recognized.
  13. This would be like: The ability to link character & Society info to your webpage. Ability to pull leader board stats. Ability to download buy/sell order information. Inventory downloads (personal & society). Ability to create mobile phone apps and/or other 3rd party apps. Ship & weapon stats (though maybe this info is closely guarded / not for release). Possibilities could be endless...
  14. I tried searching the word API, but it is only 3 characters... Sorry in advance of there is a thread out there. . On to the post: IN SHORT: any plans for API that players can make 3rd party tools & apps? THE LONG: I love API based tools associated with games. The more flexibility given to the player base, the better. Don't shoot me for saying so, but I believe Eve Online had been most successful in this endeavor and that functionality had given that game life beyond its years (just my oppinion).
  15. Ah yes, we do need a North American presence for France (irl). This alliances allows for both English & French speaking to play. I have 4 French speaking members, all of whom are bi-lingual and put up with me trying to learn. Eventually, the goal is to have Squadron Vice-Admirals (Vice-Amiral d'Escadre) that can run either full squadrons of a particular language or timezone. We have an internal ranking system in development... We need a bit more game content to finalize...
  16. Looking forward to it! PS - the alliances between kings are always related to regional power stability, and in part religion (depended on the individual king/queen). So that was no surprise
  17. No worries. I'm off Scottish heritage, so it is more an excuse. I can play french, and still be "English". Historically, not the best fit, however the last of the Jacobite Uprisings was put down in 1746 I believe, and France sent ships in support of that. The last of the Stuart line, rightful kings of Scotland, died (don't qoute me) 1809 (it might have been 20 years earlier, I cannot remember). The GRAND truth, my grandmother is an English warbride (came to Canada in 1946). So I've connections to England add well. Frankly, the history in the RN is captivating and I do have a lot of respect for it (and otherwise would have loved to follow the Highlander regiments throughout history.... Except for....)... GAMING-WISE, I just find it hard to play for the most popular nation. So this is my compromise: I am Scottish descent, fighting the largest naval power out there, my group has enough of a historical thread to be plausible, and there is plenty of room for other non-scot players to fight under the banner of an alliance (especially French players). Great question, no offense taken. PS-as noted earlier, the history of our period, had not yet come to pass in Naval Action... Otherwise, why even play France, whom were not a Naval Power in the Western Hemisphere by 1815...
  18. Grim DeGrim

    Ships reset.

Let it happen! I look forward to the day. I only this week recieve the Santi myself, but love the thought of a reset and the tears of the masses that forget this is an alpha (PRE-RELEASE!). All should know and realize this when signing on
  19. Polish WW2 propaganda removed by Grim, for a friendlier picture. Daisy's maybe...
  20. "G-R-I-M" space "D-E-G-R-I-M" (so you can spell my name correctly upon release...) PS - Great idea
