  1. You know what? I am about to receive the special edition Gettysburg Blu-ray set. Going to watch it another ten times
  2. Well that's it for my Major General difficulty Union campaign, made it to Gettysburg. Despite winning the first rounds i came short of units, it was very hard to keep up with the losses on this level. Cannot believe how people played and won Legendary mode... It was crazy to fight against overwhelming enemies with almost 3000 men sized brigades... Glad i came this far, i became a governor so plenty of cash lol any advice on MG difficulty level campaign for Union or CSA?
  3. well that did not work, i waited the first day for them to come. They only attacked me with skirmishers and 2 brigades, now the map is bigger and i am surrounded. Going to see what i can do to bleed them out, need to focus on the woods and draw them in the open.
  4. Damn... i only managed to draw this battle as the union. Went on a offensive day one to secure both objectives, during the retreat my units got pinned down and killed. I had barely and army around 60.000 on Hard mode ( one before legend ) i have lost 25.000 and not enough money nor manpower... only have 200K and 11000 recruits.. i got overwhelmed by massive sized 3 star CSA brigades.
  5. my interest in the Civil War grows and grows will definitely check out this documentary, going to dive into some books also. I could not find anything on Netflix, perhaps the difference in regions is the problem. As for the movies, i haven't watched the Free State of Jones yet. It is on my list, i did watch Glory, and Gettysburg and Gods and Generals. I liked Gettysburg the most though despite the errors. I didn't like Glory and Gods % Generals that much. I am a Gettysburg fan lol and have ordered a special Blu-ray edition along with a Gettysburg map to watch oh i forgot War of Rights, i am thinking on investing in it also. Looks fun, maybe we can meet up with the guys from here and form our own regiment
  6. anyone know the first person Civil War shooter? Its a crowd funding project which uses the Crytek engine. Pretty decent https://warofrights.com/Crowdfunding I have ordered books about the Civil war based on the recommendation here, are there any good visual documentaries about the civil war. The battles, generals and the war in general.?
  7. Hell of a great game, agree! Suddenly after spending that many hours on this wonderful game, having completed both campaigns... i feel i have lost something i dare not to start a new campaign on hard/legendary mode because i feel like i am going to fail big time.
  8. Yeah it is, i enjoyed the CSA campaign more than Union. The Union was easier, both had very nice battles. Washington was one of the best. Thank you sir. Find my casualties a bit too high, saw one guy being appointed the president of the CS. I am a governer of Virginia. Virginians!
  9. I remember charging mass infantry and take over the forts and trenches, its the final battle. All or nothing perhaps i would take a different approach when playing a second campaign. But that is how i did.
  10. OMG!!! What a final battle it was... wave after wave after wave. So many deaths... So now i finished both the Union and CSA campaign on medium difficulty. I have seen enough death, suffering and destruction. I dare not to play on high level I liked the battles of 2nd Bull Run, Antietam and the final battle of Washington the most. See the pictures, before and after the last battle. Enjoy
  11. Maybe old news but i noticed CSA soldiers are more capable in taking on and routing trenches and forts. I really struggled to attack trenches and forts on my Union campaign. With CSA i let a couple of skirmishers charge and followed by infantey in which i easily route thr enemy.
  12. I get a heart attack looking at that last battle numbers Congrats, and this on legend mode!
  13. Oh oke, thats why i had to refight for every inch i took as the Union. Managed to win day one as the CSA and had to fight a minor battle to secure my flank.
  14. I prefer that too, a balanced army that can bring you victory with few losses. And when a chance occurs i go for the wipe out tactic. Does it have a effect on future battles when you wipe out enemies? If yes maybe that would count as an exploit if it is easy to do? On easy mode maybe, but certainly not on Legendary and Brigade mode when watching the videos.
  15. Just started with CSA campaign and i am at the Second Bull Run. Must say i.have a much more stronger army than my first CSA campaign. Lets see how this goes, some tough battles fought for the Union and CSA. Major General and Legendary mode will definitely put my skills and knowledge to the test. First to finish CSA And hope i can get more hours to play the game (steam says i played 100 hours) i found a new Civil War game... first person realistic shooter.
  16. I can vouch for that, just finished Union campaign and was getting sick with all those trenches and forts. Throwing mass amount of men usually routs the enemy where you can flank the other trenches. Often you suffer heavy casualties, but that is the cost of war.
  17. Oh boy, what a massacre the last battle was... It felt like it wont end for years! I have won almost every battle and drew 3/4 battles. At times i found myself overwhelming the CSA forces, rarely they outnumbered my. Still i did enjoy the battles and playing as the Union. Suffered some heavy losses, check my last battle screen and the end game screen as the Union. what a magnificent game this was, thanks to this forum i further developed my skills playing this game. On to a new campaign as the CSA ( which i like more, don't know why). Some other things, AO en politics... I totally skipped that when starting as the CSA, i had like 30.000 men at Antietam as CSA while as Union i had almost double the cash and manpower. Will definitely use the tips here playing as CSA.
  18. i have 2500 men brigades now, have appointed 3 star generals as division commanders and 1/2 stars as corps commanders. Can i use brigade generals for my brigades or would that be too much?
  19. Guess so, learned a lot from you guys. Have been using skirmishers more and more, amazing to see how they can slow down an army. The Union lacks good commanders for brigades, i have tons of high ranking generals but the colonels and below that are very rare. I did not have this issue with the CSA.
  20. Would also love to see a Ultimate General Crimean War game or perhaps an add-on / DLC. Would be great to see battles fought between Russia, France, England and the Ottomans. Would be nice to see tactics and weapons pre Civil War. Really interesting since there i only few years between the wars.
  21. I just destroyed the CSA at Gettysburg every day. I am now at 2500 brigades. I am playing the middle difficulty and find the Union campaign a bit easy. I struggle most battles but i have more troops than the CSA. Is that a Union thing or can the same be achieved for CSA? Perhaps i should play with highes difficulty?
  22. Didnt even had an idea how important Politics and AO was, i spend more on training and economy when starting my new and first CSA campaign. I didnt make the same mistake with my current Union campaign, and i am doing extremely well. Cant wait to finish it and restart CSA thanks guys for all the input, really appreciate it.
  23. I was overwhelmed from all sides. It was a mess really, i have a problem with manpower since the start of my Confederate campaign. I didnt spend much on politics and bigger army. Instead i focussed on AO and weapons despite having few numbers. I gave up. I play Union side now, just won Antietam and i had around 80.000 soldiers while as the Confederates i had about 30.000 at the time of Antietam. I learned my lesson Union campaign feels a lot easier, i dont know if that is normal or becaude of the fact that up to Antietam i have more troops than the enemy.
  24. Well i am relieved of my command and lost after suffering a defeat at Laurell Hill... going to start a campaign with the Union and perhaps after that replay a fresh Confederate campaign with the stuff i learned here.
