  1. What the hell are you talking about ? No one here is a teenager. Do you know what teenagers actually do these days? They're on that latest social media thing with their phones, where you send each other images and they vibrate or something and we just have no idea at all what's going on or why anyone would waste their time on that. Or they're at the mall.
  2. I tried to point that out last page. Apparently Bernadotte has more information and told me to stuff it
  3. no one uses live oak because the little bit of extra armor simply isn't worth having a max speed of 9.5 Fir Fir, the cheapest is the best. And all these additional penalties to turn rate and acceleration aren't helping either.
  4. People didn't find a way when damage farming was possible for a year. You're talking one single fight? Insignificant. If it gets to the point where two players are involved, one player isn't getting much out of it anyways, so it would simply be better for both of them if they teamed up and shot big fleets.
  5. No, it's not. They have automated log monitoring that catches that sort of thing. People have been banned in the past that no one reported for doing just that.
  6. The rest of the playerbase is still avoiding PVP because rewards for damage have been removed, and losing a ship while getting "Battle Report No Rewards" is simply not very enticing. That can be changed. However, admin is completely silent on that subject.
  7. I quit on the spot when crew was hired for 500 gold. How long did it take to fix that mistake? What are the current sources of taxation right now? It is very clearly stated in the first post that anything you do in "Craft" is not being taxed. Where else is money spent? Home - Manage Crew - will hiring crew be subject to tax? I doubt it. Repair ship - taxed? Home - Buildings - only very few buildings actually cost something to build. Equipment - nope, can't spend money here MIssions - nope Fleet - nope Admirality - nope Conquest - nope So yes, only in ships and shop can you spend money in port that is subject to tax. You place a buy contract, you pay 5% of the total volume up front. You place a sell contract, you pay 5% of the total volume up front You put a ship on sale, you pay 10% of the asked price up front The 5% contract fee is already pretty low, leaving little room to go down. The 10% ship fee is a bit higher, but also very little room to lower it. Would you move from a perfectly safe port just to pay 1-2% fewer fees on your contracts when you now run the risk of the port being captured? I don't see the motivation to move out at all. So are the fees for the capital going up? Is that the secret plan to force people out? 30% for ships, 20% for shop contracts? This would completely kill capitals because you pay up front, and no one is gonna pay 60k up front to put a 200k ship in the shop. If this game starts doing heavily with taxation, first it needs to become an actual tax and move away from this up front fee business. This still ignores the following problem: Most ports are not used for shop or ships. You put your resource production in there, you visit once a week with your indiamen fleet and collect. No taxes being paid here at all. That means the entire maintenance needs to be paid with grinded gold. To run from Belize, you need a few more ports, iron ore, hemp, LV and so forth. Those ports will be white. Belize will probably be red. Because there's no point in holding all these ports. Someone might attack them? then you defend against the hostility attack. If they capture it, you just sit it out - they're not gonna pay 500k to hold a port they won't use, so it just reverts back white. Jamaica is dangerous now, but the British capital will move, and that's then moot anyways. I wonder if Belize will be a capital actually holding three valuable resources (fir, oak and coal). What an amazing port. I don't see any reason to ever move from there if it's uncapturable. British might as well be declared "very very very easy". I am also not "Panicking", it would be nice if you were less condescending all the time towards different opinions.
  8. correct me if I'm wrong, but you sell your stuff to capitals when you're trading, so you can't be taxed because capitals are uncapturable and therefore can't be held by clans. And that's different compared to basing your entire economy in some distant port today.... how exactly? If you build a shipyard (which is so frivolously expensive now that new players don't do that anyways) outside your capital, you should by the point you can afford that realize all by yourself what a tremendous risk you're taking. A risk that has absolutely no payoff, because there simply is no point for a new player on his own to build ships in a distant location. What exactly is it you gain from building ships in Belize as opposed to KPR? KPR has Fir and Oak, so two of the heaviest resources you don't even have to carry. Iron Ore, LV and Stone is just around the corner. Hemp is not far either. That covers almost all ship building resources.
  9. You mean when the game was four years old and everyone and their dog had duped billions some port maintenance didn't matter anymore? 500k is a placeholder number, but the way it was worded this was to be the minimum. If your 100 member clan (which is astronomical with todays player numbers) holds ten ports that don't produce taxes, that's 50k per player per day. No way we're paying that. Given production and manufacturing is excluded from taxes, no ports will generate taxes for their owners except for the captail - which is uncapturable and therefore can't be held by a clan All the ship store trading is done in our capital. Very little material store trading happens in other ports, and there it's limited to repairs. Ships are built and cannons are forged in the capital, and that's where it's sold. Untaxed. So yeah, I predict the entire map save a select few ports will be white with this patch. Because having your clan name painted on a port is not worth 500k a day. 500k is an absurd figure, similar to 500 gold per crew member used to be.
  10. Constant shouting at each other and childish insults in nation chat do not constitute for a proper civil war. And yes, The roadmap thread from July only lists UI improvements as significant milestones. This thread is about replacing one conquest system with another, that's not new content, that is altering existing content. I'm not aware of any other content. Ships are not content in itself.
  11. Let's be honest here, the game couldn't even get the pirates to have actual infighting. Odds are pretty low it will happen for nationals.
  12. That's odd, other EA games I've played before had a pretty clear content roadmap ahead. I'm not aware of any content that is scheduled here, I can't even think of anything to add to a PVP game when the game itself is lacking.
  13. What content is this you are talking about that is missing?
  14. I'll have to repeat my question: If you capture a port as a clan, do you have to take that port with all responsibilities and maintenance for your clan or can you set it to your nation, but without your clan owning it? If you have to keep the port and pay for it, do you expect the majority of the map to be white? because at 500k per day, our very active clan is not gonna hold a single port.
  16. I don't know what part you mean. "They can't barely" is simply wrong English. So it has to be can. barely means "à peine"
  17. What is it that distinguishes a fresh captain from a true newbie? Captain rank is what you get after sinking a bunch of Brigs and Snows. They can barely shoot a hull to deal damage. I guess captain rank is the first rank where the ship you need is moderately expensive and all those looted 6pd cannons aren't good enough anymore to outfit it, so you have to buy cannons. I.e. the point where losing a ship starts to really hurt. Also the point where you do missions that gankers can enter with fifth rates? So it's convenient from the gankers point of view to label captains "non-rookies" that are free to kill, because they can't possibly hit them at a lower rank due to mission restricting entry to 6th rates...
  18. What's your definition of rookie? 60 minutes in the game, then free to kill? Most players are rookies in this game and will never become anything else. I've seen players without understanding of the most basic mechanics of the game in Victories.
  19. Feels like 99% of all posts of *that guy* is "go play PVE server".
  21. I like your post, but I hate your habit to constantly reply with links to threads. nevermind that you can still just run out of repairs no matter how effective they are on the OW. Does not solve the issue one bit.
