  1. It seems to me that you're switching one set of ship building variables that we have to micro-manage with another set. Keep in mind that the more complications you throw in front of people who just want to PvP, the more you may lose. This needs a perfect balance to work and all I see is dev's ideas swinging from one end of the spectrum to the other. KISS...keep it simple stupid, it's what most people want.
  2. I think this is a step in the right direction although I really haven't minded the previous ways to craft different types of ships. I think you have to realize two things...1. No matter what you implement, there will be people who don't like it so DO NOT GIVE INTO THEM. 2. No matter what type of personalization choices you make (be it a tier system, or wood quality, or upgrade choices) people will eventually settle for cookie cutter builds. While variety of choices in personalization is appreciated, you can't force people to diversify.
  3. You can find Bermuda Cedar and Fine Bermuda Cedar without sailing all the way to Bermuda...just say'n. It aint no big thiang.
  4. The new crafting system is dependent on cooperation with other players to gather the scarce mats. With a decent group of people, you should have no problem building ships. Honestly, I usually built 2-3 exceptional ships a week before the patch and I'm pretty much on track after the patch.
  5. 1. Grinding hostility is not fun because it is tedious. 2. Sailing long distances for trading missions is not fun when the profits are not high enough. 3. Farming for fine woods is not fun because it is also boring.
  6. No, I think not. As grateful as we are to GB's help, I think it's time for the Dutch nation to put it's big boy pants on. If you want something of our's, we're not about to "let" you have anything....man up and come down and take it, sporty. ...and while you think upon this, perhaps you should stop making shady deals with other GB clans for pieces of South America you don't own (yeah, we know all about you personally cutting a deal with that BOTC clan).
  7. Small pop nations are having a real hard time grinding hostility, especially with the 15% drop every day. If small nations have very little chance to get new regions, then naturally they can't get access to new resources to help them craft things like ships. It's a game killer for some. I suggest you scale the hostility gathering abilities based on population....the lower the pop, the higher the hostility each player can generate in missions etc.
  8. Regrettably, he's right. This mechanic has been in long before the patch. It was terrible then and even more so now because it basically makes the 24 hour window for conquest nullified.
  9. I think it's time to shake things up a bit with some new alliances....don' t want the game to get stale. I am entertaining offers.
  10. I don't know about anyone else but forcing my nation into an unwanted alliance won't stop me from helping my friends in any way I can whether it be giving them critical battle information or economic sabotage.
  11. 1. The Dutch war with the Pirates is totally unrelated to the GB war with the Pirates except in that GB has volunteered come down to help us often. We went to war because you guys couldn't hold the deal over Zutman and attacked our other ports. 2. Secondly, not caring about ports and only using them as an excuse to PvP is a complete lie. If this was really the case, you wouldn't have been observed on enumerable occasions taking empty French and Dutch ports during periods of low server pop, as empty ports no matter when the port timers were set, apparently don't interest you.
  12. While I can't disclose the specific future plans of the Dutch, I can say that we intend to keep friendships with those nations who have helped us. There are other nations with whom we intend to cease hostilities as it serves no purpose to be at war with them although we probably will not be allies (same with old alliances that have not been productive). Any faction that we plan to attack will be for the purposes of growing or in defense of our nation and it wont be personal. Diplomacy will happen with or without an in-game mechanism to make it happen as it always has.
  13. I appreciate all the hard work you dev's are doing but every once in a while you have to feed your lab rats a treat to keep them interested in running the maze...just say'n....
  14. It was great sailing with you in GB. If you ever decide to come back and play Dutch, we'd love to have you.
  15. This is too bad. DREAD was one of the few pirate clans which really played pirates as they were meant to be. You guys could be a pain in the butt sometimes(as you should be) but I admire your play style.
  16. I think that pirates should be excluded from trading and get all their resources from raiding or cap'ing traders. In order to make it a bit fairer, the drop rates for goods on pirate's prizes should go up considerably as should the materials from broken up ships.
  17. We are currently dealing with the racist comments. They are not helpful to our nation. As for the rest, we take ports whether they are contested or not. We often buy multiple flags in the attempt to thin the number of our opponents down as we are often greatly outnumbered. You were often seen asking about PvPing but you never showed up when it was happening...I guess you didn't want to scratch the shiney new ships that you mooched off of us. While Soulpython seems to have demonstrated some skills, the rest of you have not.
  18. Unless you are completely clueless, you might have noticed that the Dutch with our Swedish and French friends are getting more than enough PvP from the Pirates and the rare Dane. We had offered BORK our friendship and resources to join us in our fights but it seems that they would rather spend time in Global chat and in the forums complaining that they don't have anyone to PvP with. I would suggest that there is a little less qq and little more pew pew from you guys. As it is right now, even if you get the national votes you need, you're not really worth the effort. In short, you spend too much time calling attention to yourselves (just like this toothless thread) for the insignificant numbers and the activity you represent.
  19. I don't really care about all the drama and politics. I just think that all the bullying and griefing of GB players needs to stop. I think it's time for the mods/devs to put an end to this behavior.
  20. Lighting a fuse doesn't seem very time consuming to me and it would be unwise to have a ship anywhere around an exploding magazine. That should be left for a small demolition team.
  21. Just wondering how one butthurt person being kicked out of one clan is considered a "civil war"? .........now back to your regularly scheduled, who has the biggest and bestest zerg population.
  22. As the game is now, unless you destroy a tower by ships guns (very hard to do these days) or with a mortar brig, captured towers in PBs are exposed to being recaptured. Historically, fortifications were often destroyed by withdrawing forces (ie. powder magazines blown up and cannons spiked). Could we have an option to destroy a tower after we have captured it as well?
  23. I can't speak for the whole clan but many of us moved to the Dutch because we wanted to help the smaller nations grow. The established Dutch guys were happy to have us. There were people transferring from other nations to help France and Sweden during the period as well. The Danes weren't going to live up to their part of the 5 port minimum deal and at the time, GB had no interest in fighting the Danes and we did...that's all there is to it simple with no drama.
  24. Sometimes short timers work for you and sometimes against you... A short timer means that you're more likely to get ganked by fewer players at one time as they all struggle to pile in and increases your chances of escape while a longer timer may give you time to be rescued by someone....both have merits. Personally, the longer timer appears to favor the attackers rather than the prey IHMO. It's a mmo, make friends.
