  1. I swear to God, if he doesn't start going easier on the peppercorns...
  2. You probably won't want to join France, either. When this all started I pointed to PURGE on PvP2 as inspiration to keep fighting, because it had been proven that a supposedly-beaten group can take a small holding, fight back, and eventually win again. I was roundly declared a pirate, retard, troll etc etc when 'the nation' decided to surrender a day and a half into the war. Why? Well the statements were initially that going all the way up north to fight the Danes felt too much like work and if the game is a job then people won't want to do it, which is fair. The official word though was that we had to surrender because having to fight to defend our ports when we didn't want to was a broken mechanic and we couldn't survive without the SE corner resources, etc etc. Despite adequate proof that this wasn't true. It's been this sort of childish nonsense ever since, and it's only gotten worse as you can see. Everything is now a conspiracy, everybody is cheating, everybody has alts in every other country to spy and rig PBs... it's pitiful.
  3. I remember, years ago, hearing about a group of high school kids in Vancouver, BC that found some trash-talking player from the other faction (I don't remember which bunch were which, Horde/Alliance) in the cafeteria at his school and apparently broke all of his fingers. It would've been hilarious if it wasn't so damned pathetic.
  4. Because when your self-image is only validated by having people in a game about pretend-internet-ships do as you tell them, "rogue" players are a personal affront.
  5. I wouldn't imagine so, no. We've yet to engage any Swedish players that I'm aware of, and focus on fighting the Dane-Norwegian players. I know you've been fighting with the French lately though, and I'm glad to hear that at least one of the fights ended on a mature note for both sides. That's the sort of gameplay we all enjoy, and so far have always seen from the guys we've fought. Good fights all around, win or lose.
  6. Immaterial. If they lose it again then so be it. All they've lost is the cash for a flag, oh well. Why should they "step down under the will of the majority"? The "majority" means absolutely nothing here because all "diplomacy" is clan-to-clan. You can play the meta-game all you like, and more power to you, but they can as well and have the same right to do so as you. Colour it up however you like, with whatever excuses you please, the end of the story is: You have absolutely no right nor authority to dictate to others how they play their own game. Period. It boggles the mind why this simple fact is so hard for some players to grasp. As for your respect, well, I'm sure that's just tearing them up inside, but they seem like troupers so I'm sure they'll carry on somehow. Seriously, the level of animosity directed towards the clans that decided to keep playing has been disgraceful. The only behaviour related to "griefing" I've seen has been on the side of those who constantly flame groups like mine or DRUNK in nation chat, on these "RP/forum-pvp" forums and even in recruitment threads where that trash most certainly does not belong. You don't need to agree with what they do, but the fact that you like to think you speak for the majority doesn't give you the right to flaunt behavioural expectations in a community like this. What blows me away is that in our fights with the Danes both sides have always ended - without fail - with a salute and a "good fight" regardless of the winner, and in my experience running with DRUNK the same has been true. Every single time. They've enjoyed the PvP as much as we have. The only people crying about it is our own pretend-internet-countrymen. You want to know what sort of behaviour damages a player-base? THIS. This pitiful attempt to bully others into falling into line, like children embittered by the fact that others won't do as they're told. Had I seen this before playing I'd have never bought the game and supported an absurdly immature community such as the National News forum showcases. It's an embarrassment.
  7. I responded to this in the Danish thread over the same foolishness, so I won't repeat it here. Morey is entirely correct, though: you don't get to tell other people how to play their game. Edit: just to add link to the other post.
  8. Only response I intend to make, because this is all so embarrassingly stupid. Here ya go, bud: "It's a MMO axed on Global Diplomacy" No, it's a sandbox MMO based on naval combat being played on a pvp server. That is all. Diplomacy is entirely player-driven right now. If your clan wants peace with someone then you're welcome to it, but that's for you and you alone. I realise that some of you people need to find validation by trying to be a big wheel in our little pretend-internet-boat game, but you don't get to tell other people how to play their game. Suck it up. "Those who don't respect it hold no right etc etc etc" Unless you bought their game you don't get to decide that for anyone else, tough luck. Grow up. There you go. Last word is yours, enjoy.
  9. Seriously, two of these? These forums have become an embarrassing collection of "do as we say" nonsense, but actually starting tribunal threads because people want to play their own game is disgraceful. Grow up. Behaviour like this, yet it's the "rogue clans" that are bad for the player base
  10. This seriously started out in Tribunal? You people are absolutely pathetic. Edit: I just noticed there's one for Danes, too. Truly disgraceful. Grow up.
  11. Yes, that's a pretty common attitude 'round these parts, to be sure. You're just not usually so honest about it No, no it probably won't
  12. That's quite the collection of info, well-done sir, and thank you.
  13. It's a nice idea on the face of it, but as Maturin said the reality is that you'd need specific national counterparts for most of these ships which creates a pile of new - and currently unnecessary - work for the developers. Each of the current ships more-or-less fill a particular role (early trainer, trader, ship of the line, interceptor, whatever) and removing a nations ability, even just early on, to fill one of those roles because they can't craft the ship that fills it purely for cosmetic reasons would be a poor choice, I think.
  14. I remember the first time a group of us (4 iirc) decided to take on a 3rd Rate in Cerbs, a good while back. One bad turn and the 3rd Rate boarded one of our guys and took out his entire crew before he could disengage
  15. Nation chat would seem to say otherwise, in my experience. I'm all but literally wiping away tears right now Lighten up, fella.
  16. Oh lord, the only thing that could make these forums worse is adding him to the mix. Can you imagine? "Our port timers all changed, what happened?" "The sea is trying to return balance! Don't defend when the wind is blowing!"
  17. Fantastic. The difference here is that they all stuck around to fight, and it was legitimately entertaining to watch Great post, sir
  18. Edit: Bah, forget it, trying to point out all the hypocrisy just isn't worth the effort. Enjoy your conspiracy-mongering; I'm done.
  19. So much for trying to keep at least the Dutch neutral
  20. Yeah, it's a real pain in the neck when everyone doesn't just do as they're told in the sandbox MMO
  21. This picture keeps popping up. So.. one sided traded a Surprise and an AI Brig and Cutter for 2 Trincos and a Cerb. Good?
  22. No, no, it's only we dirty rogue pirate French that are under the thumb of foreign interests. I read it on the internet, so it must be true!
