  1. People seem to be having fun with the new nations, so seems not to be "stupid" at all. IMO it WOULD be really terrible decision to allow player warehouses and ships to be looted when they're offline like you're proposing. What's the problem with neutral ports? It gives people more places to sail to and dock, which is a good thing.
  2. Small battles, large battles - all good - why should they all be the same? You can do a couple dozen of them in a week if you really wish to.
  3. We've covered the circles in 3 v 4 PBs before. It involves splitting up with some "strategery"
  4. 38ms ping? Damn, I'm glad when mine is below 150. There isn't going to be much PvP until either the population is so high again that people just can't avoid each other, or until there's actually some motivation for people to go out looking to get sunk.
  5. What a load of BS. Ships are usually sold at bargain basement prices, particularly since ship capture was reintroduced. Trader Brigs used to fetch over 100k, and now nobody will bother buying them when you can capture LGVs so easily. LGVs are sitting dead into the wind all over the map. I have LGV permits sitting in my warehouse that I was delighted to buy as soon as I could craft LGV to sell and sail, and right away they put ship capture back in and now they are useless. Crafting ships isn't a money-making activity, especially when many of the best crafted ships are given free to clan members. Half of the reason I craft ships is because it's the only way to get crafting XP so I can someday craft my own ships. I'm losing money on it otherwise. I bought and hauled over 10000 teak logs and thousands of various other logs, thousands of gold for furnishings, and have mined thousands of stone block and crafted thousands of provisions. All of that is expense and hours of game time. Don't bring out this BS idea that people are somehow trying to fleece other players.
  6. "Crafters"? Everyone is a crafter. There's no monopoly on something everyone can easily do.
  7. No, it means those clans will be extending their power through their allies.
  8. Which means if you don't hire $$$ mercenary "pros" or already have some as allies you're just going to get curbstomped all the time by the clans that do. Most clans will not be able to compete in this environment, and those who have the right connections and huge amounts of money will run the map.
  9. I'm pretty sure this would just end up with one superblock of RvR players controlling everything. If you aren't in that group, or don't care to pay that group $$$, you're permanently screwed.
  10. So, in other words, only people in the EU should be allowed to play Naval Action....righto
  11. There have been big changes in those areas, but being in a clan (of any size) is still pretty essential for taking part in anything.
  12. Well, they have already attacked us, so it's not quite a friendly introduction to our potential new Prussian neighbors.
  13. Well, since they cost the clan 100k per day maintenance fee there isn't an obvious "reward" in the port itself. For an hour of your game time and missing out on the combat in the PB I think there should be a bit more of a feel-good result for the successful capping monkey than the bummer "no rewards" message that you currently get. You get more XP from just sailing down the coast to the next port. I want a cookie too.
  14. Rumors suggest that hostile Prussian forces may be infiltrating the ports of Barbados - particularly Bridgetown. Caution is advised.
  15. Unless the Montanes/Wreker result is in doubt I'm voting for Portugal to keep them on the radar. I like smaller ships, too.
  16. They are both bad and the game needs to change to prevent them if there are not enough players to sail for every nation 24 hours a day. It needs to take much longer campaigns to take a port/region. We hoped to have a 24/7 server but there weren't enough people for it.
  17. Asia and Oceania seems to be the big problem ping though
  18. Can the ping be made reasonable globally? That seems to be a potentially big problem.
  19. I heard that long ago there were more players in Spain on one of the servers and they got beaten down and mostly quit? You just need to create a Spain that attracts players, and Havana is already a great place to be based with the new reinforcement zones. Maybe if Montanes is introduced it will also help. I play as France and I have absolutely NO connection to France beyond once living in an old French-Canadian suburb long ago.
  20. The noob in the fast ship (often me) who caps the empty caps in the port battle while the battle is raging elsewhere on the map doesn't get any battle rewards after a successful port battle. It's kind of like watching grass grow to sail around on the edge from cap to cap, but often somebody needs to do it. Might want to consider some meagre rewards for the lowly capping gopher.
  21. It's a game. People like to try all the features. I'm on my 4th nation, though that's through playing on all the servers and using the redeemable XP to change them again after the spring Wipe. Also, some characters may see themselves as more of a privateer/mercenary or other kind of independent faction that changes sides, rather than as a loyal national.
  22. We "dead nations" are not a "dead" as you seem to think we are, and I'm not sure how having lower population nations is a problem anyway.
  23. You have to defect in just your underwear in the middle of the night, with the dogs at your heels. (lesson: always have clean underwear on hand)
  24. If we only had 4 nations there would still be 1 or 2 that are vastly larger than the others, they would still be self-segregated by timezone, and the people who don't ever get along would be even more of a problem because more of them would be in the same nation chat and working against each other.
  25. If nations are currently barren it's because player interest isn't there for them. We have choices. If the new nations are barren then it's no loss because they don't own anything to being with, and if they do well (player interest) then it's a plus. (I'm puzzled why there's no talk of adding Portugal...?)
