    Out of interest, why do you think that you SHOULD be able to escape, as a solo cargo ship player, vs a SQUADRON of specially equipped cargo hunting warships operating in unison?

    My magic moment was being attacked in my trader lynx by two player small ships (also lynxes or privateers?) I outmanoeuvred them, smashed off BOTH their bow sprits and escaped laughing like mad, as I thought i was doomed when they tagged me.... It was a true Houdini moment..... and all planned not just luck!

    My friend and I love it each time it gets more realistic. We both started playing again post patch, and both love the roll, both love the fact that sailing is more important, both love the fact that battle sails are a good move now, and both love the fact that you really have to plan out where you are going to go, and that you now move slower than ever! Keep it up devs and Happy New Year!

    Again thats just like real life.... Merchants had to be dragged kicking and screaming into convoys, from the Age of Sail through to the second world war.... Only when things got really bad did the begrudgingly submit to convoying....

    Where are people getting the "no ports" idea from. If your nation loses totally, then you are auto-allied to the conqueror power. So therefore you can use all their ports too...

    Also u need to earn "PB Commendations" which you can only do by aiding the assault. So that plan isnt as easy as it sounds.... but sabotage is certainly an option....

    Surely currently that's what we have? And the patch means you can have official allies, and official war. So if you arent one of those two states you are basically a neutral. We dont have Swiss style "neutral nations" but I guess you can the Freeports that....

    Think of it this way, as the people above said. Napoleon "conquered" Spain, but they weren't exactly a massive help. Yes he got the ships, but they weren't exactly begging to fight the RN, and Spain itself was full of partisans that tied down large French armies. Thats how i see it going in NA. Yes if you actually conquer a nation , well done.... But dont think anyone is going to be happy about it, least of the all the conquered nation.

    who says they have to fight for them? It just means they can no longer attack them for the time being (plus can use their ports). then wait for your forced alliance to "time out" and seek revenge! (if you want)

    People talking about resets seem to have grasped the wrong end of the stick. A reset wouldn't occur after ONE nation was defeated. It would only occur once their was a single nation victor. Smaller "defeated nations" would still exist but be forced into an alliance (for an unknown time) with the nation that conquered them. So resets would be very rare assuming alliances kept balancing each other out, and no nation would ever "disappear". unless I too have grasped it wrongly?

    Seriously why all the pirate crying??? Pirates players can still form alliances. just not OFFICAL GAME ones. You can fight everyone. And that means you can also agree with nations to NOT fight people. This official alliance mechanic simulates "word from the crown" telling nationals what to do and what not to do. Pirates dont get told what to do by anyone. This is all as it should be.

    Beeps for messages should not be beeps. A ships bell will suffice, or a pipe. Something immersive but that alerts you something is up.

    Thanks Mirones! Looking forward to her. The devs have said there is a July patch slated. Is that still the case? If so, that means I have only a week-ish to wait! 8)
