  1. In addition to what resources are produced and consumed I'd like it to also show the prices of resources when you visited last.
  2. Everyone posts that something or other will make players leave the game.....posted by players that (i presume) stay. I play a game for a challenge not to be heaped with gold and XP. I prefer to work for something, not have it given to me. Every time a game starts "making it easy" that game should die.
  3. It really is a bit of a mix isn't it. We have "3rd rates" named Bellona We have 2 snows, one called "snow" one called "Niagra" we have several kinds of Frigates only one is called Frigate Really need to come up with a standard. I'd suggest that when your in open world looking at a fleet it should say that TYPE of ships "2 third rate, 4 frigate" once your in battle, you find out exactly which frigates and which third rates you face.
  4. Not sure how may time this needs to be repeated. There will be no more XP wipes. Becalm your fearful hearts.
  5. you do understand that his articles are just for fun, right. Nobody should take them as the honest truth. It's just a bit of roleplay newspaper article, written from a biased point of view. It's referred to a yellow journalism and fitting with the timeframe of the game. https://history.state.gov/milestones/1866-1898/yellow-journalism
  6. I don't blame them for being pissed. While green on green shouldn't be allowed, intentionally pissing off people shouldn't be either. You did several things intentionally that would really tick me off. I can understand them being really mad.
  7. when you do a sell contract, you are not selling them at that moment. You are offering them for sale. If nobody buy them they don't get sold. Think of it as Amazon. You use amazon to sell your product at a price you set. Amazon holds your product until it sells then gives you the money. when you have a sell contract, the item is then buyable from the materials list. When you do a buy contract your are not buying them at that moment. You are offering to buy any resources or crafted items players sell to the port at YOUR buy price. your contract is filled by either the port filling the contract from the items the port produces OR by players selling resources they have. Materials are only sellable if a player has listed a Buy Contract. I think the UI needs to be changed to only show materials that have buy contracts. I've sold several crafted items like planking and crafting notes but it's a little difficult to tell what your actually able to sell.
  8. The first ship that moves is usually the one that gets hit first.
  9. sigh................................................................................................ Here we go again and again and again and again. Learn to read a compass. Navigation is a SKILL, like any other skill you need to work at getting better. Shooting your cannons is a SKILL, like any other skill you need to work at getting better. Manual sailing is a SKILL, like any other skill you need to work at getting better. Crafting is a SKILL, like any other skill you need to work at getting better. Sure I had my problems navigating for the first day or two, now I have no fear, because I increased my skills. I also have had problems turning, shooting, and multiple other things that require a few minutes to figure out. The game is fine, increase your skill. Yes captains knew where they (approximately) were, they did it by keeping track of what direction they sailed, time they sailed that direction. and a guess at leeway, currents, ect. They did not know exactly where they were but they had a good idea. In NA someone that is skilled in navigation, knows approximately where they are as well. I know if I leave port and sail NW for a period of time/speed then sail South/speed for a period of time, to return to port I need to head roughly east. Do I know exactly? No. but I am close enough to make corrections once I see land and make out landmarks. now, all your other drivel about teleports, crafting, ect. is all about TIME, and not a factor of skill. Navigation is skill, the others reduce time for playability.
  10. Take command of the Trader ship, load ALL the cargo into the ship. Send your fighting ship to out post sail the trader to the outpost and get back in your fighting ship
  11. would someone list out what beats what during boarding.
  12. I think regional capitals should be attackable only after the ports within its region are turned.
  13. I don't think any navigation aid should be in game. Open world sailing is a acquired skill, like tacking or manual sail turning and experience and skill are part of being "good". I remember getting lost but it is something you learn from. Now I have no fear making long open ocean transits, its just comes from experience. If people are getting "lost" they should stay in areas they know until they build up the skills to navigate over open water, it's not hard..
  14. I am getting the same errors.
  15. Trading prices should be kept as a secret. Picture this, you find a very profitable route and post the prices. Next thing you know, your seeing 10 ships trading the same route you discovered. Suddenly your profits are gone.
  16. well to tell the truth, its not the first time I ended up on the far side of forever. One day I needed to go do some shopping so hit the "teleport to capital" button and left. I was quite surprised when I got home later to realise my ship had been sailing south/west for four hours. After about an hour sailing west I made landfall in about the same area. Being "Alpha" just gota laugh, report it and carry on.
  17. So two bugs/problems occurred this morning. Sailing my Naval Brig, off the coast of Florida near Mosquito I and another payer sailing a Basic Lynx engage a cutter. During the encounter another enemy cutter joins. The lynx attempts to board one of the lynx and ends up loosing the fight with the enemy lynx keeping 12 crew. I close with the newly joined Cutter, board and destroy the crew. Now the bug occurs. after leaving the defeated cutter the crewless cutter starts following me almost like it was under tow or intentionally following me. I close with the cutter that only has 12 crew figuring I would board the undermanned cutter but the crewless cutter ends up crashing into me and pinning me against the cutter with 12 crew. I end up sinking. Problem two. When I respawn, I have been transported a few thousand miles to Terre-de-Bas a island south of Guadalupe. Pretty much the furthest port from where I was. No big deal, it's alpha, I can either Teleport of spend all night working my way back to home waters (U.S.). I did report both bugs. Anyone else see either of these two buggs?
  18. Where are the invites for open world showing up? I've had my Santi for several months and keep checking my email and this forum. Are the invites showing up ingame?
  19. one thing I'm not seeing is what shot is loaded on each deck. Maybe something like 14C, 14B, 14D or 14G to indicate chain, ball, double, or grape.
